I once said a clients site "didn't get me wet" after a one hour, great meeting. Didn't make the sale, learned a lot about retardation that day.

Love the car analogy! Solid answer to that question!

Great advice, thank you so much. I have a potential local client in mind with a very outdated site. I'll be keeping this video in mind when pitching them 🙏🏽🔥💪🏽

Was on the fence as to what I thought was the right answer. Your analogy with the old car convinced me that it’s not in your advantage to get them on the defense. Solid advice!

What if they asked for your opinion about what they could have done better?
@marcos-rodriguez

If they ask, then tell them. If you found the client then you need to focus on what they should do next rather than what they did wrong. If they looked for you then they already don't like their website and are looking to improve it. If they ask you that question then answer honestly. I once got a 18k job from a client that interviewed web developers and they asked them what they could do better for their site. Nobody would go into detail and the client felt that they were not experienced enough. I was the only one that told them the truth. I got the job same day. In the end it all depends on the rapport you have with the client. Some like being told what's wrong and some get defensive. You need to be able to mirror how the client is acting.

Thanks Rob, but what do you think about "Payton Clark Smith's" approach? He thinks the best way to make a great first impression is by offering value upfront by reviewing prospect sites on how they can best optimize their website to get more leads. Please, what's your take?

Im a big fan of Paytons content. And ya, I think our advice is both on the same page. You can still let someone know how to get better results without highlighting their past/current situation in a bad light. Sometimes you do need to mention an issue to then talk about a solution - but you should never make someone feel bad about what they have done in the past.
