"Pistols and rifles put holes in people. A shotgun, with the proper load, puts meat on the wall" Clint Smith [ Legendary trainer and dispenser of old fashioned wisdom ]
Years ago, a coworker of mine was shot by a friend who carelessly dropped a round into the single-shot and closed it up while fingering the trigger. Distance was about 10 feet and the load hit his right hip from straight ahead. So, a grazing hit with about a 3 inch spread knocked him down. He had to be stitched up with wire (nasty looking wound) but didn't die. Unlucky to get shot but lucky to live. BTW, I've owned pump 12ga shotguns since I was 14. Used for rabbits, squirrels, doves, quail and, pheasants. Once took a deer with 00 buck (just an opportunity). I also don't rely on my shotguns for self-defense. I've got purpose-built tools for that. Great "cool" factor on that .50.
Interesting thoughts sir! I don't have a shotgun either, but wish for one from time to time. I am not as young or in as good of shape as you so I will not be getting a 50 Beowulf. Thanks for the video.
