Qualified road running coach and ex marathon runner (3:15 PB) here. I'll swap you a training plan for you to get under four hours if you can fix my slice. Warning - the training plan requires four runs a week for six months. Warning, six years worth of training wouldn't fix my slice. Let's forget this idea 🤣.

I watched the Masters using the Masters app in its entirety. They had a variety of “channels” you could watch, including the main broadcast (which had commercials), the featured group, and sections of holes (4, 5, & 6, or Amen Corner, etc). This was a much better way to watch compared to the live broadcast which is filled with commercials. Also, it made it easier to see your favorite players.
@Jackielikeskillersmiles
@Jackielikeskillersmiles 14 дней назад
The live broadcast is the same on the app as was CBS. So the same commercials were on. No more no less. The app has been set up that way for a couple years now. Welcome to the future 😂😊

The app sucked. The main broadcast didn't come on until the CBS main broadcast came on. It should've have been on from the first player teeing off on Thursday, to the last player finishing his last put on 18 on Sunday. It was bullshiit. I missed so much of The Masters because of the way they did the maim broadcast.

I found it a breath of fresh air when Rick suggested recently, somewhat cautiously, that The Old Course wouldn't figure as highly in the Top 100 courses, if not for it's history. When I scrolled through the list I couldn't believe the over representation of links style courses. I say this because, for Australian viewers of this channel Cape Wickham has just superseded Royal Melbourne West as the best course in Australia. It's great news for Tasmanian golf tourism, but in reality these courses are too hard for amateurs, unless you're close to a scratch hcp, and no fun at all. Shoot 30 over your hcp, lose 10 balls in a round in 20 to 50 mph winds. No one is game to say it's a scam and call out the pretentiousness of it all, when for most weekend away amateurs the most enjoyable courses are their local resort courses like the Hunter Valley in the Sydney region or the Gold Coast or Melbourne Outer Metro where Royal Melbourne is. In Sydney the best layout is NSW, but it's coastal wind factor even reduces its playability and fun. Any Greg Norman designed course like The Vintage or Stonecutters Ridge provides great enjoyment, because the Shark gets it, designing challenging yet accessible courses for all levels of players. That's my rant. Thanks.

in terms of individual domination of their sport its a very difficult conversation but i dont know if i can put Messi or really any footballer in there. There are too many "really good" footballers to say 1 had absolute control. Mine has to be Tiger, Serina, Gretzky, MJ. The only one in that group that could be taken out imo is possibly MJ because some of his stats have been approached but his influence globally for the game of basketball is unapproachable. the others were just so individually dominant that some of their stats will probably never be beaten.

My best marathon was the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC in 2012. I was a serious runner at the time, but I finished in 3:56. Under 4 hours is tough. It takes grit and mental toughness, what I call sticktoitiveness. I spent hours and hours training and still hundreds of people beat me. But it's not about that. It's about enjoying the experience. Similar to golf, you want to do your best, you want to be as good as the best, but you won't. Just be you and enjoy it!

To your question of is one dominant player better or worse for the sport I would strongly argue that it’s better. Think of Tigers dominance which was around 10 years, now imagine he only won 4 majors and had a similar career to Mcilroy so far and his other 11 majors was shared out between the competition of the time. Would golf as a sport have brought in as many fans as Tiger did in that period… I doubt it

Always great content Guy and Rick!! Pro Challenge idea: Rick uses a ProV1 and the pro uses a old range ball or TopFlite XL2000, saw some in the storage room video.. If the ball is such a difference it will be worth a few shots. I think Scottie needs to use 1 as well to make the PGA tour competitive again.

If you know golf at all, you can't measure a career only off majors -- too many players have fallen into a major win or two and not had much else to show for their careers. Cut numbers, number of wins, scoring average, and the like are the ways to measure a player's overall career. I'm not a TW fan, but I have to take my hat off to his cut streak -- that is truly impressive.

Everyone ignores that the Masters final round last year was on Easter. That HAS to drive up viewership as everyone is gathered together. But, LIV has definitely affected viewership because the average PGA Tour event has fewer big names, so fewer people watch regularly…and then therefore don’t remember to make plans to watch the Masters, etc.

Question to Guy and Rick, my grandson who is 14 years old with a handicap of 14 was allowed to enter a weekend adult men’s board competition which he won with a net 66. Second place was an adult off the same handicap came in with a 67. My grandson was not allowed to claim the win and his name was not put on the board because he was a junior. The second placed player won both the prize and had his name put on the board. As you can imagine my grandson was very disappointed and this has led him to become disillusioned with the game. Love to hear your take on this
@MOE-db8oc
@MOE-db8oc 14 дней назад
If he is that emotional about what happened, you may want to consider you are( or he is ) pushing too hard. Encourage him to enter junior tournaments so that he doesn’t get messed over. Kick the snot out of those in his peer group for competition and get out there with some good adults for practice rounds so they can push him to be better. It’s a fine balance on how hard to push and not get so fed up that they quit. In any sport.

The main thing these guys are omitting is the Ryder Cup. Monty was awesome in the Ryder Cup, and also Monty won the European Order of Merit several times, meaning that he was Europe's best overall player of the 90s. That more than makes up for the fluke major titles by Rich Beem, Y.E. Yang, Shaun Micheel, etc. More interesting comps to Monty are Tom Kite, Tom Weiskopf, and Jim Furyk, each with 1 major and a goodly number of regular Tour wins.

I think Tiger was the better golfer but injury and life choices affected his career. Also, he is Top 3 of the "Most losses" in Ryder Cup history along with Phil and Furyk. Rushmore for me. Woods, mohamed Ali, Phil Taylor, Leo Messi. On to have a legacy, surely a grand slam has to be taken into consideration? Rory still chasing a slam and if he completes it he goes above brooks

Scottie S can elevate golf or bring more to it by being the dominant guy to beat and rooting for the field. This happened often with Tiger. Those that were not Patriots fans tuned in to watch Tom Brady get beat. Didn’t happen very often though.

Mount Rushmore: The fact that there is such a debate over Ronaldo/Messi/Maradona/Pele makes me not want to include any of them as none of them are that dominant as they're all so closely fought. I'd probably have to go Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, Tom Brady, Michael Jordan. Honourable mentions for Wayne Gretzky and Sechan Tendulkar. Only reason I can't include them is because I don't think they're as globally watched sports (Before anyone jumps down my throat about Cricket being the 2nd most popular sport, it's there because of the population of India and isn't as globally watched i.e. in as many countries as the other sports included in my rushmore)

@@andrew_l1900 I don't even know that name. All I know about cricket is the names of some English players from the past 10-20 years and that everyone who I know that watches it, says Tendulkar is the GOAT.

They forgot Wayne Gretzky on Mount Rushmore. I don’t watch hockey at all and he’s still #1. That and Michael Phelps could be an option

Winning regular tour events is very cool. It takes a lot to beat 80-100 top players, regardless if the top 10 are there or not. Don’t discount winning PGA and DP Tour events. Winning LIV events means nothing to me because half those guys couldn’t care less how they perform. It is so obvious that those big names have taken their money and have stopped preparing at the level needed to compete. Maybe a Bryson and Cam and a couple others are still putting in the effort because they just love it, but many of the other guys have gotten “fat” and have no incentive to compete on that “tour.” It’s now just a golf weekend with the buddies. The incremental benefit of winning an event is barely anything to many of those guys. Iron sharpens iron.

Not sure why the context of the field quality that each number 1 has done it in is never mentioned. The standard of player, and depth of each field is ever increasing as the game improves. What Scottie is doing against this seriously strong field, week in week out is insane.

@@Charlie_Nice yeah it is a fair comment when we go through the weaker events. But there has been a string of pretty great fields hasnt there? His results in the marquee events are great. Maybe I am not totally right, I accept that, but he is dominating in strong fields and the context of those fields vs. the past is interesting.

You can only gauge the player on their impact and recognition... Legacy Woods has it beyond his stats alone, like Rory has or Singh and even Ricky Fowler Ricky obviously doesn't have the stats or wins but has a bigger legacy than Brooks

When you're comparing the careers of a Lee Westwood to a Rich Beem, it is fair to question which is more important; majors or overall career success. However, in the Jack vs. Tiger comparison, the success in their careers is so very neck-and-neck, that it has to come down to total majors. The end result: Jack is the best.

I think you certainly have to weigh majors heavily on player greatness, but big event wins and just sheer amount of total wins factor in to.

Wow a guy that has mainly only played RU-vid golf the last 6 months leads 3 rounds of a PGA Tour event and finishes 2nd and that’s not a top 3 weekend moment? Guess you guys missed the fact that American RU-vid golf fans where glued to the Tele watching Wesley Bryan compete his butt off.
