As someone who has returned to EVE after, um, 10 years or so? I'm having a lot of fun with my new character...and I'm saying this as a dedicated solo, Highsec, PVE guy. I played for about 2 years (2011 to 2013) also strictly solo/PVE and I lost, I think, 3 ships in total and two times it was totally my own fault. Since I returned some 3 months ago, I haven't lost a single ship. Of course, you have to be aware what you are doing, but hey, that's true for _any_ online game, isn't it?
I am returning after 10 years as well! Back when I played befor I was just solo / never been in a corp. Since I've been back I've been loving the changes.
@@pythontest512 Because a lot has changed and I wanted to have a fresh start - of course, I still have my _old_ character and take him out for a spin occasionally, but I'm mainly playing my new one.
Thank you for putting this out. I try to recruit very lightly. I've been playing regularly since 2011 and still havent burnt out because I've always just done something fun. I appreciate folks who come into it saying something other than "join a null block and do the hyper efficient thing."
I'm a returning player, and absolutely loving it! Played back in 2011-12. Now that I've matured, I'm playing eve with a new mindset and it's refreshing :)
I am a 12 year eve veteran, but not bitter, just wanted to hear about the new player experience and was not disappointed \o/. I look back on my mission running days with much fondness. Fly for fun and die trying o7
I used to see this game back in the early days (around 2003-2005) and been wanting to play but was intimidated by the seemingly complex controls and how slow paced the action was. Now Im in my 40's, working completely at home, I stumbled upon this game while browsing the Steam catalog. Now I'll give this a shot.
Yes. I started 2003 fell out of love in 2018 and returned November 2024 ... and I am LOVING IT !!!!! It was a combo of the 2024 AT, fanfest, and the Twitch community that hooked me back in. I would say to those thinking of returning pole through the twitch streamers, expecially those running NPSI fleets and get stuck in. There is a fleet for everyone out there, and even if you are solo, there are channels showcasing current meta, features and guides. DO IT !!!!
Great video! I just started a new character in EVE after 2 years in Echos, im nearly T10 in that game and mainly solo industry and exploration, never done pvp aside when someone decided they wanted to pod me at a gate lol. I have found my 3.5 hours on eve so far so much more deep and rich in immersion, The AIR system has blown my mind.
I have been playing EVE for a year, the first year was pretty much discovering and putting the game aside due my kid that got born and picked the game back up two months ago with a new character. I'm now in a High Sec corp where they don't ask you to come and do stuffs every day or week. Playing at your own pace, having a friendly community to chat etc. I have been doing a full epic arc, doing pve missions and I also did basic manufacturing and mining in high sec but also low sec, I even went into null sec and never got ganked. You just need to understand how the local chat works, and what to look out for, if a criminal player is jumping into your system and is using a combat scanner he probably is looking for a player and you just pick up everything and jump straight out of the system. It's a great MMO game. The game is a sandbox PVE & PVP game and the great thing about this game is that you can just play how you want. I am not playing a lot of EVE this week because need to grind some stuffs in World of Warcraft too and what I love about EVE is that even when you aren't online, you are always progressing your character because of the skills that are training :)
@@thebeanymac tbh I'm trying to play EVE But rhe tutorial is fuckin infinite... And tbh so ungodly boring idk if I will continue. I'm all for complicated and multi dimensional systems and min maxing but... Not when it's so tedious and slow Like, I'd imagine since we had space ships that stuff would be fast. But being realistic only means it takes 20 seconds just to edge closer to a meteor to then spend 2 minutes shooting at it to mine it In wow, you kill shit and loot it in seconds
@@ballsofsalsa01 Eve in infamous for being slow, but bro, to spice things up quick-like, head to low sec, pick a fight. Just be gutsy, and you'll probably be recruited lol (it will involve your death lol), I no lie. You'll have a tonne of fun with a pack of bother boys out for a laugh, and good small gang pvp. Getting a kill in Eve can be a challenge, but growing knowledge of what kills what, is a bit like rock|paper|scissors, and looting is quick. Learn to kite and brawl, two different ways of fighting in frigs and dessies. To learn to fight, try duels at a trade hub, Dodixie is quieter than Jita, and I think it was Rens, ya get some real killers there. Make a friend, learn to fight in a duel with that player, and don't worry about losing cheap ships. Use tools like zKillboard to suss out a player you think might be a well-matched duel, and check their age, too. AND GO FOR IT! if it looks like you've got a chance to win. I heard APIs were changed a bit, so that might've made zKill not as useful as it used to be. EVEWho was another tool we used for intel. Some fights in Eve, yeah? ya just learn _not_ to take. List well-known alliances that gank as RED so that they stand out in local. You might know this already. CODE are probably still being a pain in the neck lol, so set em red. Furthermore, inform all the noobs you meet that shooting a billboard is an _essential_ right of passage in New Eden lol
As an Eve vet and in love with the game, I can tell you once thing. You play it the way you want to. That's the best way to do it. Have fun and fly safe. o7
@@Renfailis it true now you have to pay 20€ monthly to stay? I'm a wow player so I'm not new about playing for sub but there I can use gold sometimes after money paid months so the off time doesn't feel like much. Plus, I heard it's very feast or famine , you gain a lot and if u lose, bam, good-bye, you get nothing, good day sir ..
I returned late last 2023 playing my old heavily trained character and paid up for omega. Funny thing was a guy who was ALWAYS trying to bank in high sec before… is still in my system trying to tank miners. Saying that, I agree with all you said. PVE is better today than 8 years ago and tools for finding missions is great. The game feels more quiet today. I think it’s so much more available content, generally, or less players or both?
It's probably a combination of many things given the fact the game is 20 years old, many of the old gankers have moved on, the game is more geared towards casual play these days, and etc.
I have been playing since 2006 and I still enjoy it. I have played it solo almost all of that time. I am a low sec and WH roamer, one man operation mining gas in low sec or rare ores in 0.5 system surrounded by low sec space. I evade pvp with covert ops cloaks. They are very OP in low sec.
Eve Online is one of the few big name MMO's that I haven't tried over the last 20+ years. PVP simply doesn't float my boat and so, like many others and despite the fact that the space exploration environment appeals to me, I have steered clear because I believed all the stereotypical negative stuff that you allude to in your video. The scales have now been lifted from my eyes and I will almost certainly give it a shot in 2024. Thanks 😀
@@Thriftyyyyyy I did play No Man's Sky and enjoyed it greatly but I find that, with even the very best games, there comes a time when I want to see & experience something new. I had visited endless planets, maxxed out my 'gold' (I can't remember what the actual currency is) and had loads of spaceships - so the time for a new challenge arrived. I squeezed out hundreds of hours enjoyment from the game and can recommend the it to others (especially if it's on sale cheap).
@@johnroberts9212I’m playing no man’s sky but I feel a lack of multiplayer interaction in that. It’s not that there isn’t any players, but it doesn’t really encourage multiplayer.
I like how CCP did this. I was thinking about his earlier roaming around the shop because of Equinox coming across Omega promos... and hearing it in this video. 2x Omega training speed I was super-stoked about when I first learned about it. They changed their frame of reference. Alpha is half speed of the original training speed. I've been playing for about 3 years with a 6-ish year break in the middle. I like the game and hope the new pilots do too.
Thanks for the video. I haven't played since 2011, and its changed so much. So I am happy to start again and I am basically a new player. So thank you.
Great video thank you. I would add that as a tip. Don't fly what you are not willing to lose and you can actually buy the store currency (plex) with the ingame currency (isk). So technically a free to play player can go Omega without having to pay. This would cost alot of isk for a new player but it is possible.
I’m a returning pilot, been away maybe 7 years or so. I’m loving my time in New Eden again. I love how quickly I got back into a Cormorant and all the new ways of exploring content that has been added. I also just started exploring as a career and now I’m addicted to looting Wormholes. I understand this game can be wildly complex for new players to try and digest, but I’ve never felt rushed to get up to speed. Best of luck to everyone who decides to jump in first time, and to all those returning home. o7
Thank you for this. I agree 100% what you said at the end. I’m for co-op working towards 1 goal not PvP. Have been interested recently and just wanted to work on the solo stuff.
Thank you for this! I started playing in 2009 and was on and off for a few years before finally quitting omega a few years ago and havent played since as i find my highly skilled pilots and their modded ships too restricted as an alpha. I think going from an alpha to omega is great but the other way just hurts me too much. You have convinced this long time pve/hisec carebear to jump back in as it seems there are a few new things to learn! I dont care for pvp either and in all my time in game, was only killed once when i wasnt paying attention while mining so my fault anyway!
As a new player I played EVE Online for about a year. I stopped because it became more as work than a game. All production and trade. It's more fun and profitabe to start and run a business in real life. Let your family and friends join you! Have fun!
we have x4 7.0 in 2024, you can mining, crafting, building, fighting without campers and awoxers, abundant resource and free land without corps nerds, solo fight or fleet fight without years training.
This is the exact video I have been looking for. Eve Echoes veteran, but got drove away around a year ago when the devs started ruining the game. Have been debating trying online but have been hesitant. Now thinking I’m gonna give it a shot. o7
I've checked out the game over the years. I'm a bit lost on what to do. I feel like all I do is buy ships/items and travel to stations.. once I get my ship, I get into pvp and redo this -_-
Im returning after about 5 to 10 years i lost my Original toon which I had from day one on actual game release. I really do wish I could get her back but hey. So I created a new toon 6 days ago and im realy enjoying playing it as a Trader Miner Industralist and haulier and im playing when I wanna play not like a job. I lost my first ship which was a Mack miner with a cargo full of ore in 0.5 about four days into it. and I just said to myself hey its only a game.
If you know how to play you can make a billion per day even as a free to play character… witch in turn pays for your omega… I farm 1 week in Eve and that pays for my omega… everything is about knowledge
i started playing eve in 2005, and stopped around 2009ish? anyway decided to start a new char today.. as server shutdown happened i figured id check out the steam forum, and was very very quickly reminded why ileft last time.. damn its so full of toxic, sweaty aresholes, i very nearly uninstalled before the server went back up. your vid persuaded me to jump back in and enjoy some space based pve carebear chill sessions.. thanks man. forgot how chill this game can be.
yeah just ignore the trolls and you'll be fine. I haven't ever even looked at their forums. Why would I? I can log in, play the game, have the fun I want, all without ever dealing with a single toxic asshole.
Hello and thanks for you videos. I just wanna give it a try. But why did you dont post an invitation-link? It will give new players 1 Mio Skillpoints and you will get some boni to. 🤗
Ive been playing on and off since 2011. I only get ganked when i put myself in a position to be ganked. Dont get me wrong, i go into gankable areas for more valuable rewards, and if you get caught by the wrong folk, you go boom. But on a few hours of "wander ratting" through losec, you can aquire 200m isk. As long as you can get home alive lol. But i spend 85% of my time doing missions in hisec. And Dont get ganked lol. After some time, you end up with a bunch of cheap blowupable ships and maybe two or three super blingy waaay too expensive ships for missions. Lol have fun, lose ships.
Honestly, dude, you're missing out on deep exploration. Nothing matches the thrill of being in a ship with cat-like reflexes, a paper thin hull, and no guns, but you're the mouse, and you have to avoid the cats. Its butt clenchingly fun, I recommend getting your probe scan skills up and give a nullsec a whirl, go scan down a wormhole and follow it deep into J-space or better yet finding another wormhole within that series of wormholes that leads to a completely different area of the galaxy. You can be anti pvp and make your own story. It will make you feel like you are in wonderland and everything could be a threat...maybe.. they could be super friendly and give you ISK and help teach you things, maybe you jump through a gate and a bunch of guys are cloaked and you have zero idea they are there and its the most intense 30 seconds of omg warpwarpwarp!!!!! You just never know, but you meet people from all over the world, and it's great.
I’m not into pvp so really eve isn’t for me. I’m still hauling in game but the gankers ruin that. Mining gets boring so is planetary interaction. I have never found my niche. I do like the fact that everything is built by players and it’s very player driven. I like delivering other people stuff but that’s as far as it goes
I got ganked in the first 2 hours i played. Never went back. I also had millions of isk put against me as wanted?? annoyed me i just wanted to be a peaceful merchant without a bounty on my head.
Yes i did. Although i have heard that they removed the bounty system? So that seems good imo. I am giving eve another shot anyway, my post wasnt to discourage anyone. I was just sharing my experiance. If you think i am a lier because it differes from yours, then that is between you and God.@@Renfail
@@Stsebastian8900did you go into low security space? Because thats why you died. Everything in eve can be explained if you are willing to learn and find out what happened and how to avoid dying that way in the future.
I just tried the game for the first time. I had no idea it was a menu simulator and not a flight simulator. How do people enjoy this game? I don't get the appeal at all. I'm legit shocked that this game is somehow as popular as it is.
If they would remove the pay to use. I would come back. But I'm not coming back when they charge you to train something up to L5.. Only to be forced to pay again to use them..I paid to train the skills. i should be able to use them once I put in all that time and money to train them..

EVE was going to have graphival in statio. P.ay. they released the aptains Cabin one for each faction. They have a farewell vidieo showing one foeach faction. No one used it though. So it left. Has a mirror bed desk to replace game panels bed and couch.
@Renfail Sorry. EVE had In Station graphical play. 2011-2016. No one used it as well. Thought when Captains Quarters was not used it was abandoned. Cannot find any recorded streams. Maybe just on the beta server.
Oddly EVE Chronicles ended in 2018. Or rather new EVE Chronicles creation ended in 2018 when Pearl Abyss purchased CCP. Why did CCP sell. Supposedly to get enough money to create a new adventure or expansion module.
@@Renfail when it comes to mmo the market average is 15 bucks FF14 top of the market 12 dollar sub wow 15 dollar sub a OLD spread sheet game thats died and bounced back a little and expanded the requirement to sub raised it to 19 a month ya not cheap bud logical.. just resubbed FF14 for the 12 but paying 15 for extra retainer..
That's getting into semantics friendo. You can play indefinitely but your character will be limited (access to skills/Tech level etc). It's a more similar model to the shareware versions of old (Avernum, anyone?😂)
@@Renfail Being at the beginning you can position yourself well and grow, without fighting with people who are now unreachable. It has a better game economy. If you want to progress, reinvest everything, otherwise it's very easy to sell resources. I started a year ago, I generate $200 a month.
i played in 2009-2012..... i left genuinely jaded, and now it is even worse pay to win than ever..... so yeah free to try, nothing else..... the community was already toxic back then , with all the free players i cant imagine.... the game is a huge cash shop now.....
@@cyllananassan9159you could always do that through the character bazaar since 2005. Nothing changed, eve was the first to add game time tokens payed for ingame currency too, you could always insta buy a titan with enough real money, but good luck using it.
You have not really played the game yet, I get jaded with so many extolling the game, in many cases they are pretending to be new, when you have better ships and or run higher level missions, then you need to up your game, then you start to collect interest from others, not many will bother to gank you for a frigate or destroyer, fly an Orca, Industrial, mining barge, freighter, well fitted Battleship, then it's worth killing for the possibility of a good drop, deadspace hardeners or boosters will run close to a billion, a Marauder might be 3 - 4 billion fit. Pointing out the obvious, not one will attack you for a destroyer, unless you stole from them or 1 v 1
@@Renfail I just looked through your channel I see none of the ships I mentioned, as I said no one will gank you for a destroyer, try running missions in a Marauder properly fitted, you will have company in no time, I stand by what I said, you have not really played the game, it takes months to properly fly even a destroyer, yes you can fly it, but without all the supporting skills you do not get the full potential. Its a good game but very hard to master.
Nice for Pearl Abyss. A downgrade of EVE as an asset for a tax write off. Including future expectations of revenue. I think they paid 7 million. That has to becwrong.
I was a pve player, 262 hours, got ganked 3 times, and lost 10 ships. I've gone into low sec, because its the only way to make any kind of ISK. Was hunted, and destroyed. Stay in High Sec, unless you have 4-5 friends. You will never go beyond starter systems in PVE. So be bored, or be destroyed.
kinda pointless review pal. the way you play is not eve online its the new player experience. its meant to be friendly and nice. which isnt the true eve game play. i woudl advise you play for a few more years and then do a review.
No it isn't. You pay per month and get killed in highsec by suicide players all the time. The game is beautiful, but the other players make it intolerable.
You definitely don't get killed in hisec "all the time". That's not a thing and never has been. If you surround yourself with bad people, get rid of them and surround yourself with better people.
That's just untrue and straight up a lie, that's what I hate the most about people, when they dislike something they just tell you straight up lies. It's like "I hate World of Warcraft" because you keep grinding" while there is soo much more to that game.
