Thanks for the update! Always wanted to play it at some point just for the story, and seems like I can do that without crazy restrictions

After giving this game a real chance, recently, I dare say it is a blast. F2P has been good enough to begin with. The experience is similar to playing ESO first time, for me. It is set apart in some key areas though: lots of story (actually even more fun and engaging than eso) and not too hard to get used with different styles of combat (have tried 3 classes), or for that matter; I really like the combat animations and diversity of combat style so far. All this fun without paying. All while I am not a huge SW fan, and frankly an inexperienced mmmorpg player, but just wanted to try something different. You make great videos on this game, so thanks for the knowledge and input you share.

You used to get a massive XP boost as a subscriber. You could level 3-4 levels per mission early on. Seems they took that away. That used to be the main reason to subscribe over playing F2P. I played at launch and then again when it became f2P. I haven’t played in at least 5 years now but I’m thinking of trying it again. I’ve played through about half the class stories I think.

The game has a few restrictions while F2P, but what you get for free is pretty amazing compared to some games. I have played the game for aprox 72hrs & I have already subbed because I thought it was worth it..

What i did, was buy the three month sub card on amazon, unlocked all the expansions then bought the 99 dollars cartel coin pack also on amazon. Bought authorization a few armors, for the different roles, then for something to sell on the gtn. Between that and a few hours of credit farming, made about 2.5 billion credits. Then bought what ever unlocks i still needed, like the different races. Then bought armors and crystals augments etc on the gtn. An then paid a small amount of credits to unlock them account wide. Now I’m set up to have pretty much 12 characters, and the free level 70 coin you get from subbing. All sorts of crystals and armors to use across characters. The expansions and still have plenty of coins and credits to do whatever when ever. It’s like a 150 buck investment, but i get effectively all the freedom of hundreds of hours of content, without restrictions or hassle of subbing constantly. An thanks to the changes the only content i cant do is operations which I didn’t wanna do anyways

I remember trying this game in free to play not too long after it first came out and if I recall correctly there was a low level cap back then along with some other severe restrictions, so I just dropped it without really giving it a chance. Appreciate your video, as I can see that's not really the case any longer, so I might give it another shot.

I only sub when a new expansion comes out. I dont see much of a difference being subbed or not subbed. I'm just playing class stories for the solo experience right now. Whenever I manage to finish all of them I'll tackle all the expansions and interesting side quests. SWTOR is perfect for the casual player who maybe does not wanna play everyday. Everyone should at least sub once to get all the expansions released at that point and to become a preferred player.

just started playing ty for the video ^^ is there a way to hide the map on my screen as i move around? seems pretty massive on my screen just blocks a lot of the view when i can just hit M for the map

I just had another shot on this game last night and was having a pretty good time. Just didn't like it that mostly cosmetic items were hidden behind money buys. Do you know if you can get cool looking gear from the game without paying for it? I really want to look like a sith lorde. Nice video pal

Because you have spent at least $5 on the game before, you have preferred status. Because you have preferred status, you don't have much of any restrictions. As somebody who, so far, has spent $0 on the game, I've noticed some really annoying restrictions. Most notably being that I can only talk in general chat once every minute or so. It's really annoying to try and have a conversation with that. Also it seems like I don't have access to a player storage? It says I have to buy it, unless I misunderstood something.

I still have over 30,000 cartel points because I was subscribed when game launched and never played... No idea what to get with the points. I bought the unlocks that I needed now that I am "play for free" player but I still have a shit ton of points left.

For me the best way to tell if you want to subscribe to the game is to play for about 2 weeks. If you feel like you're invested and want to spend more time playing and could see SWTOR becoming your main game for a bit, it's worth the sub. Mostly because it unlocks all the content in the game to your account forever (aka all expansions). Plus with the added Cartel Coins you get each month, while not a huge amount, it can add up quick over the course of a few months. If you want to stay F2P, the only main hang ups are you only get General Chat, No Guilds, and I believe you're limited on playing Flashpoints in groups. Personally, I have been only playing for the past few weeks and I subbed on day 3 of playing because I knew this was going to be a game I wanted to invest some time into!

is the gear authorization a one time purchase and i can equip all gear i pick up on that free to play character for the rest of that characters life span? or is it like d2 with item identifying where i can I.D. an item per scroll i have?

So I just got this game today, never played it before. Is it worth playing the free version until I get VIP? Or should I just wait until I have the VIP to play it? And is the game still enjoyable to play without VIP? In another video a person said without the VIP, you can’t access 90% of your money because it’s locked? Don’t care much about that. But is any of the storyline locked?

while i am glad the world content has gotten easier it brings in more ppl however i feel its gotten a bit too easy which makes me sad i know its unlikely but i hope they would make it at least 10% at most 15% harder to do world content

I have a question… if I decided to pay for a month and then cancel the subscription I will have the preferred status. With that being said I will not loose access to all the expansions available for the game or I will need to pay again the subscription to be able to play them ??

gonna start playing f2p. not a huge sw fan but been getting more into sw stuff since mandalorian. mainly play WoW or other sub games or buy to play mmo's so it's not new to me. will i sub? idk if i enjoy it after a while yea otherwise probably will end up quitting

Subs help support the creation of future of all games. They don't create all these games for free just so we can play. To many people want every thing for free than complain when games fail.

I read that You can only level to 30 if You do freeplay. Wouldnt that make You underleveled later on and prevent You from finishing The Game?

My account is from 2011 and ive just started a storyline, my highest level when i finally managed to activate my account was lvl 33, there is some kind of restriction that is blocking me spending money so ftp itis haha

The reason why I stopped playing was for a couple of reasons. I didn't like that if you were not subscribed, your credits were locked in an escrow. Essentially, if you have 500 million credits and can only carry 1 million, they wanted you to either resubscribe or pay with cartel coins to get access to your credits. That's trash and anti-consumer asf. Having only 1 million credits sucks because you can't buy anything on the market that is over 1 million credits. Even if you have millions or billions of credits, if it is locked behind escrow or not on your player then you can not buy anything over 1 million credits. Also, the inflation in-game is broken. It wouldn't take much effort to fix, but they just don't want to bother because I guess people would mald, idk. Content is also lacking. Once you've played through the stories and expansions, there isn't much to do. For $15 a month, you aren't getting anything. Game needs to be shut down, and EA or whoever needs to start financing a new MMO that is up to modern standards. Game is almost 13 years now, and they keep trying to modify the game to make it an entire new game then what it was at launch. It's just not fun anymore. It's on its last leg. If you can spare the cash and sub then it is enjoyable as there aren't any restrictions. You can buy cartel items and sell them to other players and enjoy end-game stuff and whatever subs do now adays.

tldr, not worth unless you do end game pve/pvp
