Hey I'm reading the books for the first time at the moment and I noticed something you might like. Regarding your theory on the watcher coming from the abyss beneath the lake, I belive it was gandalf when they where in moria that said something along the lines of, "it seems the lower levels/bottom is now flooded with water. Giving further credence to the lake weight making tunnels theory.

FFXIV is a fucking masterpiece, I've been playing it like crazy on my steam deck. It's has such a breathtaking story and amazing gameplay

How is the population on the game? I used to play it way back in the day but just curious if I would be stuck looking for parties for dungeons and stuff like that! Thank you :)

@@IsohFM full of new and old players, I played first on Vilya then Brandywine and now Arkenstone, it is a nice server with a lot of players, pve full , pvp full. You cannot get bored.

I suppose overall I felt it was somewhat lacklustre. I'll probably discuss it in future livestreams :)

Gandalf even says it in the movies ''it will take 4 days to reach the other side'' so the devs tried to make it 4 days but of course not everyone plays for the same amount of time or the same way

sure theres plans but as you know its apparently easier said than done....server lags still happen where you and the mobs are frozen for 4-5 sec yes....in their defence the game gets more players every month and it might play a role on the lag i mean maybe its really getting better but since population is growing it brings as much lag as they can get rid of leaving us witha feeling that its the same

Laggy, choppy, unoptimized, still no physical EU servers still, but SSG is working on it (since 2007) but there is no alternative to this epic gem so who cares

dpends what youre trying to do. the whole leveling process is easily soloable then if you wanna run dungeons as you level its obviously gonna be tough since youd need 5 other players that are online at that moment, same level as you, that are ready to run it now, that also want to run it, etc etc....but thats if you wanna run the dungeon on level with a normal group . now if having a higher level guy with you doesnt bother you then its way easier to find

No, that was never the goal. Enad Global 7 aka EG7 is the overall group investing into the Lord of the Rings Online through owning Daybreak Game Company who own Standing Stone Games, the Developers for LOTRO. We've barely heard any information since the Dec 2020 EG7 Investor Report about work being done for "LOTRO to Consoles" for the brand new Console Generation which had only come out the month before. We've had no ETA or Details beyond some Investor Reports stating this was still "happening" but we've never had the SSG LOTRO Team state anything on their end beyond until they have anything to say, they have nothing to say. So while there is no evidence For or Against " LOTRO to Consoles", I would say if anyone is "waiting" to play LOTRO through their Playstation 5 and/or Xbox Series X/S, they should really reconsider this as it's far more likely it will either not happen or take a good while.

@Useful Information no just a steam deck, it's a handheld gaming PC

Something a lot of people fail to understand about that is the overall situation: They are working on it, always have been but the best way to explain LOTRO is that it's akin to a Ship that can never stay in port too long. Port in this example being when the Game is Offline for either Maintenance or Updates that either repair or add onto the Ship. These must happen in a Quick & Timely manner and get the Service/Ship back up and out to sea. Now this Ship when it's left Port and has folk aboard is always taking on water, they are fixing the holes but there is always water coming in, new holes appearing and new holes being fixed. There has been a lot more vocal comments in recent years about "Stop adding New Content! Fix what we have!" but people fail to realize that it wouldn't be possible to do this while keeping the Service going and keep Paying + Expanding the SSG LOTRO Team. While LOTRO still has MANY issues, if folks look at the whole picture and examine how things are going, 2020 to October 2022 has been VERY good for LOTRO getting worked on, Quality of Life Improvements and in general a larger focus on Optimization to make LOTRO run better. LOTRO needs Money to make Money, to Expand the SSG LOTRO Team which by doing that means the scope of what they can do increases, which in turn allows for more Projects to be done which fall under things normally that were either ignored due to Lack of Manpower + Money + Time or just general ignoring Issues to push forward with whatever that Year's Goals were. It's a very slow process and seems like they aren't getting anywhere especially to those who play on a Daily or very frequent basis but we are on paper better nowadays for what they are doing to get LOTRO doing better than we ever were before 2020. There are still many Issues both within LOTRO and for the SSG LOTRO Team but there is still more hope things will keep improving compared to a downward spiral that has often come up every years since before LOTRO launched. But there is still a long way to go for both LOTRO & the SSG LOTRO Team and only time will tell how things will go.

@@zeroinfinitify That depends on the Player. This is NOT stating that Lag doesn't exist & affects everyone as the SSG LOTRO Team has confirmed LOTRO has Game Performance Issues. Said Issues do affect folks differently as even with how bad the Game has run at times since 2020, there have been not a small amount of people both in & outside LOTRO stating that they have "Little to no Lag". Game Performance Issues or Lag as it's most commonly called is still a big factor for LOTRO's Experience & being able to play but it's not universal in how everyone is feeling it. A "long way to go" is not how long LOTRO has nor how long things will take to get LOTRO in a far more playable state but that there are so many things to do that even with all the work they've done since 2020 and ahead of Update 34 will still require far more in the coming Year and Years to be done.

@@zeroinfinitify you guys make this look way worse than it actually is unless youre i europe (i heard there are days where they cant kill a single mob even) but me in canada i can play entire sessions without having a single lag and my sessions are 8-10 hours long and when i get a lag usually its the whole server that lagged so i dont get killed by it or anything so why should i care really? all in all just waiting for the quest text to pop isnt THAT terrible

its closed to one region only and you retake camps by killing the npc boss and turning the flag or capture artifacts to bring them home for server wide tiny buffs

I've got a really easy answer for that - because LotRO lets you take part in many of those moments you know and love from the books. Sure, WoW might be more fun as a game, but LotRO let me ride with the Rohirrim outside the walls of Minis Tirith. That's part of why I keep playing.

I think part of it was itemisation. Constantly working for gear but not really seeing much change wasnt very satisfying to me. I also never managed to find communities to play with back then which is a deal breaker (remembering this was all pre-discord era)

The only thing is that LOTRO isn't built for VR, in all honesty you can zoom into a First Person Perspective and get that kind of experience without needing the VR Headset.

It's definitely better to play it with friends. What do you typically look for in an mmo?

@@GeekZoneMT Hey Carl. Well, to be honest, LOTRO is the only one I've ever played, and that because of love of the lore. So I have no real expectations except that it remains friendly to those unable to pay to play, though I'm a premium player. They've made strides there that's for sure. But update after update I keep leaving more and more content unfinished. That's the only troubling part - solo playability.

Its so hard to catch up in LOTRO and tedius I play for a day or two, look at all tge grind I have to do, get the shits and just quit.

no clue what yyour take comes from because lotro is the most solo friendly mmo out there you can literally reach endgame without speaking to a single soul...of course that if you actually like questing and following the story but if your goal is mostly to run dungeons after dungeons all the way to endgame well then yeah its kinda hard to do solo

No, anyone who had certain things such as Classes, Quest Packs, Expansions and so on will not receive anything meaningful since such things have been given to All Accounts. This is the per usual that happens for any Game that has been around a while which has what is commonly referred to as "DLC Content". Folks who either don't Play, rarely Play or don't Pay for Content will likely one day, years off from when said Content was originally relevant get said Content for Free either through it being given as part of the Base Game, Installing during a Period of Time or through a Special Code. The best way to look at it is for anyone who encounters this for LOTRO: The individual has done their part, they helped fund things, they "hopefully" enjoyed what they had gotten and hopefully by said Content becoming Free or given to everyone during a Limited Time Offer, we'll have more Players in LOTRO. More Players means a higher chance of folks who will give Money, meaning the SSG LOTRO Team can grow and do more for LOTRO every Minor & Major Update.

That "is" something they are doing but they never do sweeping changes to everything with a single update such as "all" the Maps being the same style. They've been updating for years now more Maps and all Newer Content Maps use what I refer to use as the "Satellite Style".

Yeah MMOs take a while to get used to, it's probably best to play then with an experienced friend

@@kokocaptainqc Templar got butchered and the entire game feels slow and clunky now with combat changes. Tons of skilled veterans have left and if you queue for a random dungeon now, absolute trash players are running them now with 0 dps and auto attacking builds. I will not be returning to ESO anytime soon, LOTRO is way better

hum why? the game as absolutely nothing to do with that dumpster fire...the game is the BOOKS exactly as its supposed to be word for word with stuff ADDED and nothing replaced. if the book says FRodo di this or that in THIS place at THAT precise moment you can be sure it happens just the same in the game

Some people have been stating that more in recent years but there is no plan for any form of reboot for LOTRO. It's one reason they are pushing forward, more focus on improving LOTRO, cleaning up old issues, etc compared to how much either Turbine or SSG cared about it in the past. This is THE LOTR MMORPG and there might never be another, so enjoy it while it's here or don't. Others have and will continue to enjoy LOTRO for years to come. Graphics will always be divisive when it comes to the Lord of the Rings Online, it's how it's been for a good while. Same as how there has always been a lot of pushback over the lack of Tolkien-like Maps and the SSG LOTRO Team slowly but surely phasing out Older Maps but not providing nor keeping said Older Maps. LOTRO will never be able to compete for Modern Graphics nor should it. They are using a more Modern Style for Visuals with LOTRO that is better but they will never be able to appeal to everyone. Gameplay in terms of how Characters fight and how they use their Skills will also always be divisive because LOTRO was built using the style more common to World of Warcraft. It's the style they chose to go forward with in 2004 to Pre-Launch 2007. Different Era and Style that has survived into the 2020s. This is unlikely to ever change fully beyond potential work to clean up all Classes for the amount of Skills and try to improve things but this isn't set in stone to be happening either. And why should anyone play LOTRO when "they have better mods of this universe in better games"? That is because those games don't have the full experience of being in Middle-earth like the Lord of the Rings Online provides. No games with said Mods have the same value for Lore, Story Telling and World Building that LOTRO brings and those are the things that have kept LOTRO going even when it's suffered in a variety of ways in it's over 15+ Years since Launch.
