I've got a 1.8 EX with the factory sat nav screen which sits in the perfect position to glance at while driving so I don't need this but for those civics without the inbuilt sat nav. I would highly recommend this type of setup
I did try to look for one with the sat nav screen but couldn't find any in decent condition. If I got one with sat nav then it wouldn't have been possible to do this conversion I was told so, in a sense, it was a blessing in disguise haha
Helpful video man. Can't wait to finally get this done on my type s. Glad to hear the speakers are decent after introducing a din/pre-amp, as they sound pretty bad with the stock stereo! Peace x
Glad it's helped you - it's definitely the best daily mod I've done to the car and the speakers are great - no need to upgrade them at all even after the bass-abuse they get haha
Nice detailed video bro, only I feel the company you used have let you down a bit. To install the stereo, you have to remove the centre console, so they could have routed the phone cable internally to the storage box under the arm rest. Cheers for the video
I appreciate the heads up - I didn't realise you could do that at all as I haven't attempted it haha. It may end up being one of those projects that ends up being done once I've completed absolutely everything on the car 😂
Appreciate this man! Not a Honda owner but looking to do something similar in my KIA and was just browsing Dynamic Sounds and their kits before I found this
One thing I will say is I've done the single din conversion which is not as readily available to get the aftermarket dash piece. There are plenty of double din units, also you will needs connects2 otherwise you lose the clock/temp screen
Put this JVC unit in my civic 2.2 CDTI Transforms the car. Asking myself why I didn't do it earlier. Had to 3d print my own custom facia to fit the civics double din cutout. Fave it that flush look
@@jcscarculture5267 bro just got mine installed, makes a big difference like you said. If you have Snapchat, drop me it. I will snap my unit and my car
Bro if you change all 4 speakers and tweeters get mini amplifier and an understead subwoofer you can fit it in the middle at the back sound will be amazing
Thanks for the video! It's going to take much more effort than the EP1 I had, but I'm going to have this done to my MK8 Civic. I am also installing speakers and a subwoofer. A good soundsystem, satnav, and phone integration is unmissable in a car for me. I'm likely going with an Alpine radio unit.
@@jcscarculture5267 Thankfully it is possible to keep the display for time and climatecontrol working. I've had a call with my local Hifi shop, and they said they can put in an adapter that allows the display to work with steeringwheel commands.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost the login password. I love any tricks you can give me!
@Odin Franklin thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Nice vid. Quick question, does installing affect any other electronics ie steering controls? Seen someone on a forum saying they lost theirs so just wanted to check as I’ve got cruise control etc which I wanna keep. Thanks
Thanks for the compliment man! Mine works with the cable but you can get a Bluetooth adaptor for it to work wirelessly. Personally I haven't done this as I like the fact that using the cable charges my phone at the same time, otherwise I'd be wireless all the way haha
Nice useful video. Can you tell me if Dynamic Sounds have also set up the audio high pass/low pass/crossover frequencies? Or did they just install the head unit without actually setting it up to the car's speaker configuration?
Thanks for the comment - it's fully appreciated! And no they didn't but that was for two reasons - No.1 - Calum is very good with sound adjustments and equaliser settings so that wasn't a problem and No.2 - I didn't ask lool. But I'm sure they may offer a service like that if you ask them. They're very good and worth the money for sure!!
Yes, the volume is now shown on the double din screen instead of the top screen now. It also means you can't change the time and date the way you normally would with the standard radio - but apparently there is another way of changing the time and date anyway lol. I haven't tried this yet but I'm sure if you look on forums and FN2 groups you may find what you're looking for 👍🏾
Hi, I didn't carry out the installation, the only thing I bought myself was the radio itself, sorry. I would look on car forums and social media groups for advice if I were you 👍
I actually paid a company called Dynamic Sounds in London to do the install for me. They supplied the fascia so it might be worth speaking to them? There's a link to them in the description 👍🏾
This was installed by the company linked in the description, so unfortunately I don't actually know which kit is best as it was supplied and fitted for me. Check their website out, they're great!
Haha, it is firm for sure but it isn't too bumpy for me at all. Just make sure that the coilovers are in good condition (no leaks, there is compressions and no squeaks) and you'll be fine man 😎👍🏾
Good question - I honestly am not sure about that. I've read places you can and can't have a double installed if you have a sat-nav model. My advice to you would be to ask fellow sat bav owners on a Facebook owners page if it's possible and how they went about doing it 👍🏾
It's car calogne (Creed aftershave in a little bottle). I stuck it on there with little command strips - as when I hung it from the rear view mirror, it used to bounce off the windscreen lol. I've taken it off now as it ran out but it never once moved or spilt over... In case you were wondering 😂
Hi mate I’ve got a fk8, 9th gen civic se I want a screen but I’m confused on how you would use the imid screen that shows mpg n shit with the screen on?
Hey, I'm not sure how the workings of the screens in the FK8 work but with the FN2, I can still see my MPG perfectly fine with the double din in. I got mine installed by a company called dynamic sounds - contact them and they should be able to assist you further. Links in the description 👍
Ummm, I cannot remember the exact price of the radio but the installation which came with the facia was about £200. Speak to Dynamic sounds, they can quote you for everything including the Radio 👍
just a question. can you use the navigation function of the stereo? isn't the sitting too low and takes away your attention off the road when you looking at it?
Do you mean if you have the satnav version of the civic?? And no, I genuinely don't find it takes my attention from the road any more than any other functions you'd find in any car, if that makes sense? Android Auto also doesn't allow you do a load of functions at one time. It forces you to have a break between selecting certain menus which is annoying at times, but it definitely works lol.
Ahhhh I got you, sorry!! I personally don't notice the difference. The size of the screen on the double din (7inches) compensates for how high you can mount your phone on the windscreen. I've never had an issue with looking at the satnav on the dash since having the double din installed or missed looking at a phone at a higher view. I definitely recommend it if you are In two minds about it!!
Nice bro I need your help After installing the android system in my FN2 the top screen display which shows the A/C and the watch isn't working I can see yours is working how did you do that 😅
Truth be told, I didn't install it myself, I got a company in London called dynamic sounds Ltd to install it for me - sorry! Try and have a look on Facebook forums, you might find a fix on there
Hey mate! You need an aftermarket wiring harness. The Civics aircon/clock cluster is powered through the head unit. I'm in Australia so this is where I purchased from: frankiesautoelectrics.com.au/aerpro-chho3c-steering-wheel-control-harness-suit-honda-civic-type-r-gen-8/?gclid=CjwKCAjwoNuGBhA8EiwAFxomAz8y4oa8z3bNnXuNqoAkEc3BMR3A-7qSLQcsMqEnNhTCeKh7olbk8RoCb5IQAvD_BwE Good luck!
The screen above becomes obselete. It doesn't bother me as you get the correct date and time on the double din screen so it hasn't bothered me at all really...
It doesn't become obsolete, it will display time and climate control information. When they fit the steering wheel controls, you can change time with the mode and the other buttons.
From what I was told at the time, you couldn't, but I've also read somewhere that you can change the time through using the steering wheel which I am yet to try!
@@jcscarculture5267 Cool, I've found also. Long press MODE--> Clock CH --> to set time VOL --> to switch between positions I will try next time in garage. But I have steel my original radio. Any more it was also one of the reasons, why i didn't change it till yet!
@@WH250398I have original radio and it does not work. But I habe read already 4-5 times that it works. Maybe it shold be no conected original radio for this feature.
I believe you can but I haven't actually done this yet as I usually forget and end up checking the time on the double din itself lol Check on Facebook groups to see if you can for certain 👍🏽
@@jcscarculture5267 ah mate cheers for the reply, I’ve watched a couple of your Civic videos and I’ve been really interested, thanks for your help man! If I have some other questions and you have the time is it okay if I ask you?
Looks and sounds great. Heard a lot of people say it brings a whole new lease of life to the speakers in the FN2. r u happy with the dashboard panel change? Cus I've seen some really bad after market ones that don't come close to matching the colour and texture of the rest of the dash.
Yes it really does bring the great speakers that the FN2 has to life, they are bang on the money with that statement! And to answer your question, yes I am really happy with the dashboard trim that was supplied with the fitting. You can't actually tell that it's an after market trim really, it's that good!! People may say that £200 is a lot to pay for fitting, even with the panel but you get what you pay for with this. If I bought another FN2 tomorrow, I'd do exactly the same thing again. Look up dynamic sounds in the description box, they were the guys that fitted the sound system. They supply double dins too if you don't have one already :)
Cheers for the reply, this is definitely something I'm looking at getting for my FN2 and I'll check out the guys at dynamic sounds as u sound well chuffed with the results. I know it ain't cheap but as I'm not looking to change my car anytime soon this is a must of a upgrade for the car.
Yeah you don't have to splurge on the double din - you can get some android ones that are half the cost and work well. Plus if you have the patience and skill, you. Could install it yourself man 😎
Too much hassle, and i totally prefere my dash the way it is... i just have put a bluetooth usb dongle inside the armrest jack(and usb) port and i use AUX with my phone. Perfect.
@@jcscarculture5267 never mind I looked in the description and I looked into the car and I thought they were maybe only three renditions of the type-R! But there are more!
