being in Disney World I've realized most people there don't seem to realize the Marvel connection. maybe it's due to them being west of the Mississippi river as Marvel characters are only in universal and the California park etc but I've spoken to people who liked my Loki shirt and had 0 clue Marvel was under Disney. I think that is a lot more subtle than we think. To me it was obvious, based on the Disney shirts and ears everyone wears it's clear most don't seem to know.
@@avrabelie9505 that’s not how that works. Universal Studios has some marvel although it is owned by all Disney. The contract states that Disney can have it west of the Mississippi and that universal can keep what they have east of it. So, if universal studios Florida doesn’t use Wanda and Vision, they still cannot be at Hollywood Studios.
this is my all time favorite when it comes to cast members!!! after we were hit in our rental car and late for the reservation at 50's our cousin played the part so GREAT of "who wants to hear your winning" and came out with a whipped cream pie and smashed it in my face!!! I know sounds bad, BUT it was so unexpected that we laughed all night and were in tears from having so much fun... totally forgot the whole car wreck thing. just the best ever, maybe not for everyone but the cast member read me perfectly!! We go back every trip!
My husband and I went on our anniversary trip and loved it! While our server was full of antics and fun, when I started telling her about my dietary needs at the time, she kneeled down and spoke with me in a soft voice giving me a bit of needed privacy before being right back at it yelling at my husband for his "bored face". Truly magical.
Both of us being "of a certain age," my wife & I immediately identified with the Prime Time cafe. Imagineering nailed the atmosphere of the restaurant! So much of the look of the cafe we remember from our youth or we actually owned after we became young adults. Food was excellent for the amazing quantity that continuously paraded out of mom's kitchen. Our server was fun and entertaining. We would go back and recommend it to others.
My favorite Prime Time experience was the time when the Streetmosphere hard-hat guys wandered in. They hung out in the bar for awhile complaining about the weak drinks and "testing" their plungers on the ceiling. Then later we spotted them wandering the restaurant itself "fixing" TVs that were clearly working. Also (since ya mentioned the Brown Derby) we were once blessed with a visit from Humphrey Bogart who sat at our table and ate all our complementary bread rolls one quiet afternoon. Fun times!
My family loved the 50’s Primetime Cafe! We’re very unfussy, comfort food type of people, so we were fine with the menu. Never having dined there before, we weren’t familiar with the table options, and so without even requesting it, we were so lucky to get a tv table. Absolutely loved all of the decor, and definitely recognized many pieces from our grandparents’ homes. 😊
I ate there back in 2008 and I didn’t eat my whole meal before ordering dessert. The waitress brought out dessert and placed a giant heap of whipped cream in front of me. I started to eat the whipped cream until I noticed a weird taste. Looked down-it was my main meal. The waitress said “if you’re not going to eat it for dinner, you’ll eat it for desert!”
I would not put up with that at all as it is your money; and your decision to save room for desert. Also, I have always had a problem with portions; when I went I knew I had to leave room to sample a delicious desert, and made that very clear to my server. What happened h to you was very clear this was unacceptable. Ask for a manager or person in charge and make your feelings known.
@@esciteach7997 I think it all depends on if you know what to expect going into it. That is part of the theming part of the show but if you didn't know about that going in I guess it could upsetting. Hopefully their staff are well trained, and able to read social clues well so that they pick up easily on if guests are not feeling the nostalgic vibes.
@@kariscreativequest1711 Thank you ! Absolutely. 90% of all visitors never read vlogs. They come in winter without sweaters; in summer without hot/wet weather gear; walking around for 10 hours in 99 cent flip flops, . . . . . . .
I went to Disneyworld for the first time when I was 7 years old. 22 years later I remember exactly 3 things from that trip. 1) Losing my first tooth in the hotel pool, 2) the hotel staff setting up mine and my sister's teddy bears into cute scenes in the room while we were at the parks and 3) the server at Prime Time cafe telling my dad to get his elbows off the table! That's literally it, but I think that speaks to how memorable a kid would find seeing their parent treated like a kid! Definitely worth it if you've got little ones with you.
@@UmmYeahOk Actually, in the 50s folks were making bomb shelters in case the "BOMB" was dropped, so maybe Apple Forever is just realizing a catchy word a few decades in advance! :-)
@@margaretd3710 except people back then feared “the bomb.” They hated “the bomb.” Children of the 50s grew up to protest “the bomb” in the 60s and 70s. I don’t think Apple would have done any such thing to a dessert.
AJ - "So if you're introverted and anxious like me?" Wow! With a voice like yours and the continued quality of your content coupled with Disney passion, this would have NEVER been obvious to me. Thank you for ALL you do AJ!
We all got yelled at for not setting the table. My dad got yelled at for blaming something he did on me And I got yelled at for laughing at him. But all in fun. If you don't wanna participate in that you can always just enjoy your meal and the servers have no problem excluding you from that kind of comedy.
yup; just say something CLEARLY TO YOUR SERVER LIKE WE DID, making it known you are there for a nice simple meal in this special restaurant, and you won't be able to finish the large portions of the main course and will be leaving room for desert. Worked 100% for us and left our server a big tip for "respecting our wishes"
As a person who looks 10 years younger than I am, along with being a picky eater, I’m constantly treated like a child. This restaurant sounds like a nightmare for me 😅 But I Love Lucy is one of my favorite shows of all time, it would be cool to immerse myself in the 50’s!
it can be. unless you make it clear (like we did) you were there just to enjoy a nice meal and desert and knew what might happen but did not want that. we hardly saw our server and left a nice large tip for her " respecting our wishes"
we go every time we're in the studios! My boyfriend likes to test the servers, and last time we were there the elbows on the table got ketchup spread all over his place at the table, and the mass amount of drinks consumed got him a whole pitcher of iced tea! our "cousin" was amazing and brought the experience throughout the whole dinner. '50s will always be a must-do for my family!!
I can never snag a res here or Sci fi theater. Though when I go in September, I got ogas cantina. Go figure I get the hardest reservation to get in Hollywood but I can't get one for the table service. No biggie. I'm glad people are getting to enjoy these places.
I took the family to this place during our trip. The family had no clue and were a little anxious. They LOVED it and the kids still say no elbows on the table. My son doesn't do cake or ice cream, but he will eat sugar cookies. The waitress went out of her way to get him one (considering it's not an item on the menu). Highly recomended.
My favorite Disney Park restaurant since first dining there, many years ago. Hilarious when kids react to seeing their parents "disciplined" for elbows on the table or not eating all their veggies.
We have been there many times, for us it's a must do. The first time our server was Aunt Ellen and she "hit" me in the back of my head because I forgot to take my hat off, my wife laughed so hard she cried. The last time we went my granddaughter had to sweep the floor around our table because she because she looked bored waiting for her food. Don't come here if you're easily offended or on a diet.
I’d say that if you are someone who takes regular trips to Disney and love all things Disney, its worth doing at least once. I enjoyed it, but feel no desire to do it again. Fun for the stories you can tell!
Yeah, did it at least once. It was 7pm, and everything counter service I was interested in was closed (because who eats dinner at Disney?). Had already eaten lunch at Sci Fi, and Mama’s Melrose had a lengthy wait. (This was before ADRs) We tried the Prime Time not knowing what it was because I had done a few character meet and greet breakfasts next door. I think the wait was about 30 minutes (different world we lived in back then). Once we were seated I realized that this was something else and warned my husband of the antics, so he wouldn’t get mad, assuming they were being rude or something on purpose.
@@UmmYeahOk yup; but you can "opt out" of the nonsense as we did; made it VERY clear to our server as we sat down, and was very happy to not see her for most of the meal and watch her scold other guests. Left her a large tip for respecting our wishes.
Yes yes yes! Oh my gosh my children fall over laughing seeing me and my husband get in "trouble" it is always their favorite! This is our children's favorite hands down! Also, the bar here makes a solid drink!
It’s okay if you’re with family, but as a single traveller no. Plus I literally experienced all of these things as a kid from my strict mum and, later, boarding school so I have no desire to go through it again ‘for fun’.
Agreed. I had never gone there before so I went for the first time in 2019. By myself there wasn't much of an experience and even for WDW the food was overpriced for what you get.
I was there in October, and it became the one restaurant I wanted to go back to for my upcoming trip. I couldn't get it when the window opened, but kept checking back and now have it.
Ate there and loved the theming, the meatloaf (which I had) and the shake. Yes, I did got told to get my elbows off the table which I didn't realize but it was fun!
We have only eaten there once and it was back in 1999. Our waiter kept calling us "kiddoes". Funny. We've never eaten there again on our many trips due to the wait times and having to make reservations sometimes months in advance. I live in South Carolina where there is a mom and pop home cooking restaurant on every corner practically.
Our server once poured water into my dad's glass with the napkin and silverware still in it because he didn't set the table like she asked him to. 😂 On another trip the entire room held out their arms and made airplane noises for the server when she fed me a fork of green beans because I didn't finish them. The food is a'ight but the memories are _chef's kiss._ 👌🏻
We ate there in April. The atmosphere was on point. The food and service however were the worst of our last 4 trips put together. I was surprised it ended up so poorly.
We've eaten there several times - always when we've been on the dining plan. Two bad experiences were turned round for us - my now 27-year-old daughter is autistic and if you're in the wrong room the noise can be deafening. We had an extremely loud waiter on the table behind us who just shouted the entire time. My daughter couldn't take it any longer and just burst into tears. Not only did they apologise but gave us a whole new portion of her fried chicken to take away 'so you can enjoy the food as it's meant to be'. Another time hubby and I went there for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had the worst waiter ever - he practically threw our silverware and serviettes at us and practically ignored us the whole time we were there - even though I was wearing a large an ornate anniversary badge that I made myself. Every other waitress who came through admired it hugely and congratulated us on our anniversary. This was the first time I'd ever had recourse to ask for the manager after our meal to complain about this guy's whole attitude: he actually upset me with his callous behaviour - even sitting at the spare chair on the adjoining table's party to chat to them while they ordered! The manageress had greeted us on our way in, and was surprised to see I had a complaint - and actually wrote us out a $50 gift voucher 'an anniversary from myself' she said!!! We were totally gobsmacked - not what I expected or thought would happen.
I went last year and I will NEVER forget aunt Whitney my server, we had to ask to use the bathroom and my brother didn’t to he had to stand in a corner and sing. It was so funny, then she had everyone shame him
Once took our grandparents without briefing them about the antics. Pappaw started becoming more and more frustrated about the casual interactions and being told to move his elbows off the table. We finally let him in on the joke and he thought it was hilarious.
The food and service is great there. I love the 50’s style atmosphere, but you really have to have a sense of humor to enjoy it. The waiters and waitresses are basically actor and treat you like you’re in their home and they’re the parents.
My favorite restaurant in all of the Disney Parks! The Fried Chicken tastes just like my mom used to make. Great southern comfort food selections & we really enjoyed the way the cast members interact with the guests. Brought back memories from my childhood. Great food & great atmosphere, hope this restaurant never changes or goes away.
when my family went I asked the server for another coke and he gave me a whole pitcher with a straw, I could not keep it together for the rest of dinner
My cousin didn’t finish his vegetables so the hid it under whipped cream and sprinkles and a cherry he was to smart for that trick so the sever got so mad at him. She literally, held his nose and made him open his mouth and eat the vegetables.
My husband and father-in-law vowed that they'll never go back to 50's Prime Time because of the shenanigans. They went in 2013 for FIL's 50th birthday, but his dry English humor just clashed so badly with the antics and he almost walked out of the restaurant mid-meal. MIL and SIL were laughing at him about it though.
My husband eats it up, but he’s that type. He seems to be the one that always gets “picked on” and in shows like Bug’s Life, he’ll be the one they zoom in on the big screen. He loves it. I’m more of an introvert and I don’t even like to be in pictures lol.
Thank you for not choosing 50’s, opens a reservation for those of us who LOVE the shenanigans. (They always get my wife and I, we’re easy targets). Have a great day at Disney.
50s Prime Time has always been one of my favorites- so many memories! I haven't had the chance to eat there in years though. I am hoping we can take our girls there when we go to WDW next summer- I think they'll get a huge kick out of it!
I've been to both 50's PT and Brown Derby in the last few years. Both are great, but I think I preferred 50's for the theming and the comfort food, as well as the much lower cost.
I absolutely LOVE Prime Time Cafe but reservations are IMPOSSIBLE to get! I hope to snag a reservation on a cancellation basis the week before or something. The meatloaf is delicious btw
Last time I was at this restaurant was 1993 and I'll be taking my family to this restaurant when we go this October. My wife, 7 year old son and 9 year old daughter have never eaten at it. We are also taking our kids godfather who hasn't visited the parks since 1993.
The decor is amazing. It makes me long for my grandma’s house but other than that it’s a no. I can get delicious chicken and roast beef at liberty tree in magic kingdom. I prefer Sci-Fi
50s Prime Time ties with Brown Derby as our favorites in the entire Disney World (along with Skipper's Canteen) and we visit many times in a year. We always share the sampler entree and can literally eat for $30 for two before tip. Brown Derby's pretty cheap too as I have only ever had the Cobb Salad at that place; no way anything else could compare.
Ate at 50's Prime Time a few days ago, 7/23/21. Hostess was into the game, but our server really wasn't 😥. Onion ring appy was great!!! Meatloaf was delish!! Had the Brownie Sundae for dessert, server said he could make it with Hot Fudge. Sauce was thick, but really tasted like chocolate syrup. It's funny that there are TV's at the tables - growing up in the 50's and 60's, the Kitchen/Dining room was the last place a TV would ever be!!! If you had more than 1 TV set, one was usually in the Living room/Den, the other in Mom & Dad's bedroom. Just a note - Tune In Lounge was not open for business.
This restaurant is really good! The food is your typical comfort food done right! The drinks were great! The atmosphere was great! The only restaurant I liked more on my trip was Ohana at the Polynesian resort, but that’s only because I’m partial to breakfast food. Compared to the other restaurants I went to on my trip, this one was my favorite! We had to tone down on the acting from our waiter because my niece and nephew were in a real sour mood, but they did scold my brother-in-law for elbows on the table a couple times.
