Should You REALLY Exchange Your BANNED Storm Balls?! 

I bought the altered reality specifically for Nationals but now that I know that I can trade for something else at the storm booth then that’s what I’ll probably do. Even paying for drilling sounds like a better alternative than waiting 3 to 8 weeks and possibly having nothing. Awesome info

Definitely keeping my UFO Alert. That ball is one of my favorites! Kinda bummed though cause that was a ball i had originally planned to bring to the Open Championships. Probably looking at getting a RST-X2 to bring to the Open as it's replacement. Also have a Trend 2 that I'm planning to keep as well.

I plan on keeping my altered regardless because it’s amazing and the state is keeping all those balls. I mainly use it when the transition hits. If I do nationals again or a tournament that doesn’t allow it, I’ll go with the dark code because that was a close second when choosing either one pre ban. And I want to worry a bit because of the alleged saying a Wolverine got through ball check

I love the Zero Gravity. Recently got a Phase 2 for more fresh as my Gravity doesn't move quite like it used to in heavier oil, but still comes out when the lanes open up.

Ever wonder if they’re told to talk up not exchanging banned bowling balls to keep storm from taking a hit and hope the customer is okay with taking a hit.

Storm trying to not have to replace a bunch of balls is what it looks like to me. Although the USBC need to be transparent and release the results of their testing. A ball either meets specs or doesn’t. There shouldn’t be any grey area in the rules.

I would like you to know that I ended up exchanging my Storm Phase 4 for the Electrified Pearl. 13 lbs. I like how Darren talked about the Hyroad i have that ball already along with the Phase 3. all 13 lbs.

Traded my electrify solid In for the Gem. little sad because it’s the first ball I’ve bought with my own money and it fit really well into my arsenal, but I can’t complain Gem caught my eye as well

Honestly i get like I can still keep my altered and trend 2 but if I can’t use it in junior gold then to me there is no point cause I’m trying to keep practicing my swing and some other thing. So I have about 375 revs and I don’t use my thumb but I’m no two handed. I like to play the lane so if anyone has any recommendations on what I should exchange to I’m all ears

Keeping my Trend 2. I also have a Zen, and am considering adding an asym. I am a low-rev bowler. I am considering possibly adding a Gem or a Nova to my bag(s). Curious if either of these would be a nice addition to my current setup? Would they be too strong, even with the lower revs? Is there another ball that would be a better option? Thanks in advance!

Is buying a used ball ever a good idea? I saw someone posting five balls for sale, including a Helios and 2 more that are on the USBC banned list. I'm new to the game and am trying to build an arsenal for league. I have no intention if joining national tournaments. Just wondering if the cost to plug and redrill holes would cost more than buying a brand new ball and if the ball reaction would be affected too much. Thanks.

I had two of these that I used in junior gold, but since it’s a national tournament qualifying league I can’t throw them anymore

Already traded in my Altered Reality for an RST X-2, which sucks because I loved that ball. However, I don't want to risk having the ball be fully banned by next league year, which is a distinct possibility. So I'm paying an extra $75 in shipping and drilling fees ($125 before the $50 voucher) just to downgrade from a ball I love to a ball that almost certainly won't be quite as good for my game. Thanks a lot, Storm. Can't say I'll be buying any more of your stuff until every ball in the lineup (especially the polished ones) has been tested and re-approved. Total transparency from any and all parties about the testing process and results would go a long way to rebuilding trust, though.

Trade them in or get stuck with a only Rec ball come Fall time. Storm doesn’t want to take as big of a hit so these guys are instructed to try to get less people to trade theirs in. Also because of the back up and how far behind they’re going to be exchanging their mess up. Almost as if they made someone in the USBC mad because at first these balls were “approved” and now they’re “banned”… I’m trading my Phaze 4 in for a Gem. It is one of the hardest hooking balls out right now. If you’re stuck between the Nova and Gem like I was for a bit go with the Gem! It follows through and stays down hard. Best of luck to all!

Rule went into effect heading into day 2 at the USBC Open. Reluctantly swapped my Altered since I had planned it specifically for my tournament bag and with intent to throw it day 2. Drilled the Dark Code the same way. Was not at all pleased. Wish I could get my altered back

I'm thinking that USBC will add the other Storm balls and make them illegal just like the Spectre once there are more sold out of stock

The original lock is still the number 1 ball in my bag....have yet to find anything to replace it and I guess I really dont want to.......was disappointed by snap lock until I got an altered reality to replace it....that ball does what snap lock shouldve done.

This is an unfortunate video. Not a fan that Storm is doing this. MANY leagues will ban these balls for fall leagues. Tons of people throwing other brands will try to shit on Storm and get the balls banned in their leagues. This is not some crazy theory, but a likely possibility. Telling people that the balls are just fine to use is inaccurate now, and when the votes come in later this year when fall leagues start up this will be an issue.

Question, you say to keep the balls that are band from National tournaments, but what if that’s one of your balls and your other ball is a old pro motion. Would you still trade it in for a new ball or hold on to it?

I'm glad I did not get the Phaze 4 when I got my second ball. I ended up getting a 12 pounder Ebonite Puma instead.

I sent my wolverine back yesterday. Getting thr Zen like I should have to begin with. Why? Because I wasn't entirely happy with it as it's my only ball that isn't old and a bit beaten. One of my teammates suggested the zen.

Pa State USBC said they are going to allow the balls for now, but are going to reevaluate after the State tournament is finished.

i have 2 alerts and a wolverine... all going back. My .. and i stress My personal opinion is.. if its illegal, its illegal. USBC threw storm a bone keeping it legal for league play. But since storm is offering returns, i have no problem paying the shipping and waiting for a replacement

I got the storm nova coming in the mail since I have sport shot league in a month and the balls I wanted are banned.

The only reason I wanted to trade anything is because I have a 15lb trend 2 and am transitioning to 14. I was going to send mine in to get a dark code at 14 though. I'm keeping tf out of my phaze 4 since it's already 14. If they get discontinued I'll try to pick up a trend 2 discounted in the proper weight too. I don't think you should exchange if you have no ACTUAL reason to trade though. I think it's stupid and going to cause issues if leagues adopt the rules though since they don't have to adhere to usbc rulings. The uncertainty of a soft ban that leagues can determine what to do is just not a good thing.

I would because who knows when the USBC is gonna make them illegal for regular league or your league may ban the ball *( any league or tournament has the right to ban these balls from play it’s there call so be careful and take extra balls )* they have that option, I see them banning more storm balls in the future they seem to be targeting Jason belmonte

USBC knows it was wrong to announce a ban after the tournament started, instead of waiting until the end of the season and releasing its findings in the meantime. Somebody got a piece of the action. What happens when another manufacturer doesn't pay up an extortion attempt?

Honestly, this vid gives "just two weeks to flatten the curve" vibes. Like some points made, many consumers are expecting these balls to get banned following current league and tournament season. Wish we knew the real story of what happened. Until we get that clarity, no one wins in this scenario.

Its a very confusing time because i know there is a lot of legality issues right now between Storm and USBC, but if what Storm is saying is correct, that some of their finishes either fail the test after certification or cause an inaccurate test on USBC behalf, i want to see that data so i can make an informed decision on this dilemma. Absolutely nothing against Storm, its unfortunate USBC found 6 more that failed, but right now all the data is suggesting they are soft. I just want to put whoever is to blame, to blame, and work on making it not happen this way again. 6 balls at once sounds like an issue on both the USBC on Storm in my opinion. Both could have avoided this.

I found it interesting that almost every time you mention these balls are still able to be used you always had to put in something referencing for "this year" almost as if you/Storm know they are going to be banned next year. That concerns me. I want to keep the ball I have but Blair even made a note on the morning show the other day that when the windows closes June 1, if you are not sure talk to your league about next year and decide because if you wait past the deadline you will be SOL if your league bans them. Correct me if I am wrong, if USBC then bans them for good Storm would have to replace? But if your league does, you are just screwed.

When you throw Dv8, brunswick, and hammer you can keep on rolling. Imagine getting 3 balls that get banned then they send you new approved ball, you still going to pay the Proshop about 180 dollars to drill them.
