Should You Remove Wisdom Teeth?

Wisdom-teeth, also known as third molars, are the final set of molars that typically emerge in the back of the mouth. These teeth usually make their appearance during the late teenage years or early twenties, although they may not always cause problems. However, there are potential issues and complications to be aware of. Overcrowding, impaction, infection, or damage to adjacent teeth are common concerns that are associated. That's why many people undergo wisdom teeth extraction. Pain, infection, decay, or preventive measures are often the reasons behind this procedure. During the extraction, anesthesia is administered, an incision is made, and the tooth is carefully removed. #shorts #3d #animation #dental #teeth #wisdomteeth

Just got my wisdom teeth removed yesterday. I'm 21 years old, and they gave me general anesthesia VIA an IV. I fell asleep within 30 seconds to a minute, and when I woke up, there was gauze in my mouth. Now that the surgery is done, I have those "Chipmunk cheeks" and I am sore. It hurts, but it's not agonizing. I have to eat soft foods like mashed potatoes, Jell-O, and pudding. Wish me luck, because this will be my life for 1 or 2 weeks. Edit: The surgery was covered by my insurance, but for context I had all 4 removed. Without insurance, it would have been $3,500 out of pocket.

Lucky to be put to sleep for it. I was talking to my parents about my wisdom teeth and my mom decided to call ahead to the clinic without telling me and instead of having a normal cleaning I'm suddenly having my tooth drilled and cut out of my mouth and I can say that experience was probably the worst thing I've experienced in my life with me feeling them having the scalpel like tool or that metal rod piece as they loosen the flesh around the tooth. To top it off fate decided to kick me in the balls again as I got sick the next few days. Not sure how much of that was me going through light shock or extreme stress from not being mentally prepared at all for that operation.

I was just chilling, talking to my dentist and she just asked me "does it hurt" and while I was answering she ripped it out. Took around 6 seconds for her to get it out. Actually had a very nice time there. The other time took the dentist around a minute to take out and I was able to feel the tools deep in my jaw. Pretty fun as well but not as fun as the other time.

Wisdom teeth may be kept ONLY, if it’s enough space in the mouth for those to grow straight, not making other teeth crowded and if those are functional, meaning #16 touch #17 and # 1 touch #32, and all those work correctly when person chewing on the food. To remove not useful wisdom teeth, better when you about 16- 18 years old, surgery is going to be easier and healing time will be shorter.

@watsonwrote
@watsonwrote 7 месяцев назад
As long as you see a dentist for cleanings a couple times a year, this is the right call. They'll tell you if/when it's time. The riskiest part of most surgeries is anesthesia, and if you're not nervous with the dentist you don't need general anesthesia for this. I just had local anesthesia for mine and it was a really easy procedure -- but of course that was my situation and others might need more extensive work to get theirs extracted. But if you end up with a procedure like me, it was just getting my jaw/gums numbed up, holding my jaw gently-but-firmly by an assistant (I have TMJ issues and requested extra support,) and then after a couple minutes the tooth was out and they gave me some cotton pads to bite down on. There weren't any stitches, and this didn't even cause any TMJ or jaw pain afterwards (not even the following days.) Then I walked to the recovery room, got instructions for care and follow up, and walked out. Honestly the worst part was dealing with food getting in the hole for a few weeks, but it healed without any infection nor other complications so I have no complaints. I also got to keep the tooth which came out in one piece and looks kind of cool lol

@@watsonwroteLucky. I only had local anesthesia for mine too, but both my upper teeth took like 40minutes -1 hour to remove. I had to go take every 4 of them individually, I had the worst dry socket after removing both of the lower two, and they didn't even heal properly so I still have a bit of a hole in my gum. Worst part is that although they were "impacted" I never felt any pain whatsoever, the recovery for the surgery sure sucked though. Fucking dentists man.
@NeonHi09
@NeonHi09 6 месяцев назад
DO NOT DO THAT. That will only make it worse. I was told by my dentist to get them out now then later because if you do what you are thinking of doing, it will only cause more infections more pain, and a higher chance of getting dry sockets. I got mine removed when I was not feeling any pain once so ever. I asked them why get them removed now and they told me the same reason I told you.

Just keep in mind that your wisdom teeth can cause problems literally at any point. They can be safely ignored until they actually start causing a problem, but once they do, it is recommended to get them removed as soon as possible. I did not have any problems with my wisdom teeth until i was 28. Then they started pushing their way out of my gums. Just felt slight pressure for a couple of weeks which i ignored. Then the molar in front of my bottom left wisdom tooth shattered while i was eating one day. Had to get that broken tooth pulled. the other three weren't pushing through yet, so it was recommended to ignored them for the time being. so i did. 6 months later, all three impacted and caused extreme pain out of nowhere one day. Had to deal with it for almost a week before i could get them pulled because they were infected. tooth pain is the worst pain i have ever had in my entire life. nothing else i've been through even compares. So if you have any issues with your wisdom teeth, please do yourself a favor a setup an appointment with a dentist to get them pulled as soon as possible, before they become a real problem.

I had an odd developing pain in the back of my left lower jaw. I thought it was a piece of food stuck in the gum like a chip or something. Over time, it got worse, and I was at a point where i said, "Enough is enough." This pesky chip or whatever food that's stuck in there is coming out! So after a while, I managed to pull out what appeared to be a round black stone with a sandpaper like texture. It was about the size and shape of an apple seed. But like I said, it was hard as a stone. The gum eventually healed, and my dentist asked me if I had a wisdom tooth removed. I said no, and he said, "Well, you seem to be missing one." I told him about the odd stone I pulled out, and he came to the conclusion (that I also suspected was the case) that my mouth must have rejected an undeveloped tooth that was causing an infection. It's insane how our bodys can identify issues and eliminate them.

If you’re watching this because you have a procedure coming up and maybe it’s your first surgery: I was also in the same boat. I was 20 and needed them removed since on the xray the bottom set were about to impact my molars (not good). I went into surgery nervous as hell, they sedated me and I fell asleep and what felt like mere seconds later I was awake again and the whole extraction was over. You’ll probably get some nice pills to compliment the pain, it’ll be annoying for the first couple days when it comes to dealing with the gauze and changing your eating patterns for just a temporary bit, but after then you’ll be just fine. You can do it I know you can! Listen to your dentist/wisdom tooth professional and you’ll get through it so fast

I got mine removed when I was about 23. My mom had great insurance from her job and I was on her dental and health plan till I turned 26. I never had problems but had the opportunity to have them removed at a relatively low cost. Because of this, I don’t agree with your comment at all. If you have the opportunity to remove them at minimal financial burden then maybe that’s the best thing to do. I could have turned 26 or older and started to have problems which would have cost me thousands of dollars to have removed Wisdom teeth can cause problems at any time. Also, if you do not get the removed when you are young the risk of complications and recovery are increased. For instance my father’s wisdom teeth were fine until he turned 60 then they got infected and started moving into his other molars, which is apparently not uncommon as you get older, he had to get them out and couldn’t eat for a month. You can wait, however it will most likely come back, last february I needed to have one of my wisdom teeth extracted, I could feel the pain in both upper and lower part of my jaw so I was unsure which tooth it was. It was the lower left wisdom tooth, and yes, I had a couple days of slight toothache a couple of times before it randomly started hurting 3-5x more and wouldn't stop. I am currently re-experiencing it just on my right side now and will most likely need to extract another one on Monday when the dentist opens, I'm just hoping I won't overdose on Ibuprofen until then.

Did it hurt only during eruption or after? Because if it hurt after, the tissue inside, including the nerve, was dying. Now with the nerve dead it doesn't hurt anymore. But it is still decaying and the decay can spread to your jawbone. Get it removed.

You were possibly teething, they don’t push through the gums immediately it takes a bit of time like your baby teeth did, so that aching might have been you slowly wearing away the gums above the tooth until it had the room to push out

They don't also need to be removed. But sometimes they require removal even after you're told they're fine. Mine were fine until I was 24 when they moved very suddenly and ruined all the hard work I'd done through braces and retainers. The dentist also suspected they were worsening my tmj disorder. The recovery was long and painful but it was worth being pain free in the long run.
