Hi James, I went to Cassaroro Falls back in 2004 by myself. I went to an adventure travel agency and they provided a local guide to escort me there. His name was JoJo. He picked me up at my Hotel in Dumagete and we drove on his small motorbike to Valencia to where the pave road ended at the dirt road going up to the falls began. His Bike was too small for us to go up the mountain, so we had to walk up to where the steps down into the canyon began. On the way up the road, we were greeted by all the children who lived along the road who ran out to see the crazy American as we went by. There were no buildings above the Falls, just a long, steep metal steps anchored to the rock walls of the canyon. I don't remember any bridges across the stream, we just had to use rocks in the stream to step across it. The Falls were beautiful and I sat in a small pool of water as we ate the ham sandwiches his wife had fixed for us. Then it was time for us to go. I thought I was still in pretty good shape, but the walk back was a killer. When we started walking back down the mountan road, it started to rain....very hard. We got soaked. It was just another adventure in my life, but I don't think I will ever go back there. Thanks for reminding me.

This is definitely a nice property there with all the vegetations, trees and fruit trees. Dumaguete is one of the places I need to visit in the Philippines, my husband is really keen on retiring there one day. Hiking, walking and outdoors is what we enjoy the most, so Dauin area is probably a place we must look at. Thanks for sharing. Aloha from Hawaii

Beautiful waterfall, although the hike back up would probably kill me. Living in the desert here in Las Vegas, I miss all the incredible greenery. My husband and I will be visiting the Philippines for a month next year so I can meet more of his relatives and get a good look at the property he has bought for our house to be built.

I visited Dumaguete almost every year for 20 years as I was waiting to retire love it there. but my partner lived in southern Leyte so I am in Maasin City now. But I always say I want to find a nice property in Dumaguete aria or Dauwin or maybe Valencia because it is nice and cool up there. maybe I still will come back one day. I miss the beautiful boulevard as well as the open-air bands where I could sit in and play whenever I wanted. very nice place. I bet you missed the every night James down on the boulevard bro you and Ness would have been a big hit there. always great bands and anyone can sit in. if you are still there check it out :-).

James, you are the only westerner I know who pronounced “Dumaguete” correctly and properly the way locals do. Kudos to you and I’m sure locals do appreciate it. The problem the spouses and gfs of these foreigners try to pronounce and imitate the way their partners do which makes it so unpleasant to hear and it has lost its value of the culture.

That was a wonderful trip you presented. Did you get a discount from the tour sponsor for the advertisement? If not did your brother in law shared with the expenses since this must of cost a fortune for 4 people.
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Год назад
No, there were not incentives as this was a personal vacation and we did not go through any tour agent but rather booked all accommodations ourselves via Booking.com and AirAsia. It really wasn't that expensive since airfare from Manila to Dumaguete is very affordable and dining there as well.

As a wealthy expat in El Nido. Avoid dramagetty. I’ve visited every city and province. It doesn’t make my top 30. Colored the real Philippines

That was the sentiment of many other locals and expats I had the opportunity to speak to on my visit. Hopefully it does not spread to other places in this beautiful country.

Casaroro Falls has a very steep road leading to it. I was on my motorcycle with my wife so we didn't have to walk. The bridges were not there though. We had to walk through the water to get there. It looks like they have been able to rebuild the area a little more since we were there. The bamboo down there was very nice. Take care. Take care
@aforeignertellingtruthinph2023
So right as you opened with --so many expats call it home. Trouble is it is no longer Filipino town it is more western now .Biggest problem is all the vloggers there promoting it and the two week millionaires who arrive splashing tips left right and center, paying double and triple have given the locals that untrue idea ALL westerners are rich. Prices have gone mental because of it. I am sure Ness will see it, probably you too. .Short stay tourists just forking out any kind of payment thinking they are so cool when in fact, they are just wrecking the economy for the rest of us.

I saw a lot videos about Duma. Everyone must find what fits for them. I don’t want to be around to many foreigners. Have done that before. I hear it’s lots problem when you guys have a real bad typhoon. Being that you so far away. I live in Bicol. Is that true?
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Год назад
Don't mind being around foreigners as long as they are nice foreigners 😊. I think in typhoons, when directional towards Dumaguete, do a lot more damage than here in Lipa City where we live. Being on the west side of Luzon and in between 2 mountains that always seem to protect us. 😇
@LynAnthonylifeinthePhilippines
Hi James I’m wondering if you still have the same original generator , I have the same generator and need a starter but Wilcon is saying they don’t make the starter anymore ? Do you know anything about parts for this generator ? Thanks Anthony
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Год назад
Our generator failed several years back. It was our fault as we overloaded the genset by accident. I was hoping to replace the engine but I couldn't find anyone who did repair or remove/replace parts. We moved on to the another backup option but this time batteries (ECOFLOW DELTA PRO). We later upgraded to solar and solar backup batteries with the ECOFLOW now acting as emergency back up of our solar and grid.
@LynAnthonylifeinthePhilippines
@@MyPIDream do you still have the generator on the property ? Do you want sell the starter ? Lol

I am married to a Filipina for 29 years and considering a SRRV visa when we go to retire there. I would like to know the cheapest route ( SRRV Type) to get. I thought it will const me a minimal amount and I need to renew yearly. We have no kids just my Filipina wife and .
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Год назад
The cost is dependent upon which type of SRRV you are qualified for. If your wife is Balikbayan (former Filipino) with a citizenship from another country then you qualify for a very inexpensive SRRV (SRRV Courtesy). This is what we have. You can check out my video series on the SRRV program from the PRA: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uNR0v3AMA4E.html & ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cJb-2ALz9wI.html
