I agree with the frustrations of the Shipping DAMAGE reimbursement to the customer concerns, as that would bother any seller, for sure, but I will admit that I think Reverb handles it the way you would if you were a retailer: meaning, you make the customer, who's fault it surely is NOT, whole, immediately, since they have no culpability in the situation. You then file a claim with the shipper to receive due compensation for damages, just like you do with insurance on your car. You are out a ride while it is being repaired, and that is aggravating, but unless you also purchased 'rental car' coverage, that was your decision. You will NEVER be totally satisfied in these situations, because someone, somewhere, will be 'out', financially, until the shipper comes to terms and pays for the damages, repairs, or replacement. In Reverb's case, it was not their fault, either, as they did not touch the product, so it stands to reason that they also should not be 'holding the bag'. Reverb, as you can see, is the BUYER's friend, not the sellers, at least not so much. I get the aggravation, though. Many of these BUSINESS decisions will impact someone, somewhere, we just NEVER like it when it's US!

Thanks for putting this video out! I used to shop on ebay all the time for everything but as of these last few years, it just feels like everything is overpriced or bid up far past its actual value whereas I can find it on other sites much cheaper. Good to see what the sellers are thinking and I'm sorry to hear about the damaged guitar :(

Prior to selling on eBay, over the years I would just purchase musician friends cases during Christmas time $40 primarily for my guitars. Now, years later that $40 case comes in handy. Plus, included with a sale, buyers love to see a case included, that $40 case may bringing in an extra $100 or more. Plus, if the carrier damages the guitar itself, no doubt, it would benefit a claim. Maybe I'll start taking photos at the shippers counter while handing off. Have them sign a disclaimer. Bet that will be fun.

I’ve been selling, buying and trading on Craigslist for years and have had a lot of success. I do live in a large metropolitan area, 7.5 million so I’m sure that makes it easier than if l lived in a rural area.

I'd love to hear an update on how this insurance claim goes for you. Anytime I sell there I always debate on including their insurance. I like the idea, but considering you're not even dealing with the carrier yourself I always wonder if having them do it is even helpful. Then I wonder what if I don't agree with their assessment of the damage, would I attempt to sue reverb or the carrier? It seems like such a headache. Best of luck!

some of your last comments are right on: selling on Reverb is good, selling is smooth WHEN it works, and just BEWARE that at some point SOMETHING is not going to go as great, and be prepared. Right on. Reverb has built a reputation, they are GOING to defend that. Their defense rest on the backs of sellers, but otherwise is actually a GREAT tool for sellers. If you sell, you are entering a BUSINESS transaction. Business can be complicated, at times. Be prepared. Most of us are not used to being in business, that is one of the misunderstandings of using these types of online selling websites... otherwise, just list it on Facebook marketplace, or in your local newspaper...

I was going to sell a Rickenbacker 330 on Reverb for $2200. Reverb was going to pull $200 in fees and etc PLUS make me give them information for a 1099K tax form so I can potentially be taxed on it as well. Fuck that, I'll just keep my Rick.

7.43% is the 'commissions' that Reverb made on your example ... not really bad if you say it that way. I look at every item I sell and say ' if a customer came to me and wanted me to lower the price by 7.43%, would I be willing to sell it to them right then? ' ... yes, most likely I would. The shipping cost is the same regardless, so Reverb is not compensated for that. The Taxes are a requirement, and not paid by the seller, so no foul there... that's on the buyer only.

Bought a guitar that broke in the post off reverb, seller blanked me and Reverb support wouldn't do a damn thing. Really put me off using them ever since

Yeah, I hate the waiting. I get paid from Reverb to my Paypal, but half the time Pay Pal puts my money on hold for three weeks for instances they consider "highly unusual transaction".

it happened to me i shipped a les paul guitar with ups ,well packaged it must have been thrown around ,it arived with a cracked neck ,obviously i refunded the buyer ,i ended up with a guitar with a cracked neck and no compensation from ups or reverb,i forgot to take pictures of the packaging ,ive sold many guitars and they are always well packed if theres not a hardcase i make a wooden type crate ,anyway i fixed the guitar and sold it for half the original price ,very annoying
@rosewoodsteel6656
So, what happened? How much did they end up giving you for the damage?

Feedback is a joke when both the buyer and seller give feedback. Its a game of chicken.
