Really good reasons not to do it, especially when looking at the fees. I feel like all the social media platforms are basically copying each other for things they're offering for users/content creators. (Reels, Tiktoks, Shorts, etc - all similar). YT has a subscription option as well, and it's nice as a different way for users to get engaged beyond other ways like Patreon, Utreon, Etsy, etc. All of them charge a lot of fees, so the user thinks they're giving XYZ, but the content creator is only getting a slice of that pie. It can be better than nothing, if not pursuing other avenues, but I'd much rather create something separate like a sub service off my own website (some creators do this) and keep as much of that pie to myself as well as have more control over it in general.

I think you are wise for having reservations about IG subscription. Meta just lost something like 600 billion dollars. They have a lot of problems to iron out between Facebook and Instagram. TikTok is heavy competition and Meta is not responding well.
