Code: SPN for 10% off Blacksmith Tactical Holsters. My go to is the v2 holster with double discrete carry clips and a wedge. And if you have under a 3.7” barrel, get a wedge!! Respect
gotta tell you son. i am retired LEO after 34 years carrying on and off duty. you make more sense than 99% of the so called experts on this platform. thanks for the no nonsense, straight to the point content.
I originally bought a Gen 1 Shield. Good gun. When the Shield plus PC came out, I upgraded. Its like the difference between a base model camaro and a Callaway corvette.
Have a Shield Plus Performance Center...Ported...slightly better trigger...with the 15 round magazines. Love that gun. Shoots fantastic. Highly recommend!
I have the shield plus in 9mm with a safety and a crimson trace. Also have a Glock 26 gen5 both purchased because of your reviews. Love them both. Alternate regularly for edc. Thanks SPN👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Had one explode in my hands. Sent it back to Smith. Got it back two months later with a new frame. “ new 4473 and fee” same dirty barrel and residue from the explosion all over the slide. No notes in the box as to what work was done or what caused the malfunction. Nothing. The ammunition was Winchester white box. I was huge fan of Smith but after you have a gun self destruct in your hands I think we would all agree you’re owed an explanation. Highly disappointed.
Great video. Well thought out and articulated points. I actually picked up a Shield Plus frame and threw my 1.0 slide on it. I wanted to keep my original slide and barrel since I had it milled for a red dot. That said, having my old 1.0 frame lying around without a slide bothered me so I ended up picking up a cheap used slide/barrel for it so now I have two Shields. All that said, now I carry my LCP Max 99% of the time because of my daily life and needs.
Have performance center gen2 in 9mm for awhile and it’s a nice shooter. Replaced the sights with some night sights. They are very comfortable in the hand.
I did. Upgraded from the 1.0 9mm. Picked up the Shield Plus (9mm) performance center version.Better trigger. Better capacity. Easier to shoot. It is my primary carry gun. Haven’t regretted the upgrade a bit.
Have the shield Plus Shield 2.0 and the original Shield all in 9 mm zero malfunctions out of all of them also use the maguts 10 round and the 15 round equalizer mag for my Plus pocket carry the original Shield and inside the waistband for the plus with the 15 round magazines I've trusting my life with the m&p shields for 10 years
My main carry is a Shield Plus with holosun 407k. I love everything about it. My bag gun is a gen 1 .40. Its a bitch to shoot bullseye with, but it does the job for sure. Id thought about selling my .40 to get a glock 27 or 26. I dont have a Glock platform pistol and debate on if its necessary to have.
Great video I’ve had the shield since 2010 and I have tried many other guns like you I own for Scheels and I would have to say every time I try another gun I have to go back to carry the shield. It is reliable easy to shoot easy to conceal And I do what do I put the grips on and I can’t be happier but I always remind myself of is I carry a gun with shelf defense not for combat so 7to 8 rds is not a problem I have both the 3.1 and the 4 inch shield plus with optics I have three of friends that have been carrying the shield since 2010 and we all agree if something works why change it
Great carry gun, I’d highly recommend picking one up. They have a great trigger and are super accurate, shoot like a bigger gun. Not to mention the price is one of the best bangs for your buck in the ccw world along with cz p10c.
My answer is no I've had my gen 1 shield for over 7yrs, it took the place of a glock 26 that I edced for over 13yrs . My shield holds 9rds w/2 back up mags,I also have a s/w m/p 9c that holds 13rds. Both function flawlessly why should I spend another $450 to get what I already have.
I am going with the Shield Plus 9mm I got the 15,13 round magazines and night sight came with it and it’s in my carry rotation it feels good in the hands and the trigger is the best part of the gun I wish my Glocks had the same trigger.
I'm glad to have found someone who sold the Shield Plus frame (stripped) for only $70. I was able to convert my loyal regular Shield 2.0 into a regular Shield Plus. For me, it wasn't so much a capacity issue, but my big hands and long fingers prefer the extra thickness on the Shield Plus grip. If I ever feel like returning to the original Shield, I can do so.
I made my Shields into Subcompacts. I Bought used a 9mm Shield. Changed out the trigger. Installed a 3 5/8 inch Threaded Barrel from Faxon, New Sites, and a Hogue Grip.. Also have a 9mm Shield Plus and installed a 3 5/8 inch True Precision Threaded Barrel. Also a Hogue Grip. Great Stability and Accuracy. Shooting 12 ounces hanging Beer cans 20 yards easy and 40 yards Body size Targets. Reliability 100 present. Even with no Optic Cuts nor light rail, I am Very Vary happy with both.
GREAT Vid *Major fan of S&W M&P* imo capacity & triggers dont really matter and *7 rounds* is enough in 9mm or .380 for other Handguns. *Accuracy and Proficiency is the goal* . Also, you can *carry extra mags* (3 or 4) atleast and conserve your ammo as needed. My Philosophy with Firearms: Point, Pull and Shoot! - something is better than nothing at all. Thanks for the comparison!
Capacity means more these days because instead of one or two bad guys there's three or four or five of them these days at least where I live so the extra rounds are important
I bought a shield plus and personally couldn’t shoot it as good as my G43X and sold it to my son in law. The grip ergonomics doesn’t work in my XXL size hands. I consistently shot the shield low and left. I loved the grip texture and all it brings to the table except the skinny grip size. After saying all that, now the M&P 2.0 compact is a different ball game for big guys. I now carry it over my 43X if I’m not in the mood to carry my XR920P. I do still wish and do still shoot his shield plus from time to time when I feel like missing lol
as a retired LEO i carried a .40 for years and liked and still like the .40 and got the gun i carried when i retired. however now i have branched out with different calibers and a number of sub (micro) compacts. i have a shield plus in 30SC and like it, along with other 9mm and .380's. but for now my main concealed carry is the hellcat 11+1 with a 15 rd backup mag. carrying the 15rd mag in the gun all the time makes the gun a little bulky. what ever i carry always is loaded with the federal premium defensive ammo in hydra shock or HST. ammo makes the difference no matter what the "gun of the day" may be
The obsession with 9 mm is the movies and people think it is the best,, back in the 40s thru the early 70s, it was the 38 special , nothing wrong with either one, and are still excellent,i still carried them when I was in law enforcement and military and still do today, and for some people they are enough, but I prefer larger caliber pistols and revolver's but still like 9mm and 38 special and lower for back up, and some of the 9 mm and 38 special are excellent for CQB and pocket carry, like the 740 and 709 slim and charter arms 38 special undercover , and some people like only one caliber or one gun ,i like all caliber options and pistols 🤔 been looking at a 30 super carry plus Like the 16 +1 and 13 +1 options for this one
Here in CA, we’re limited to the Shield 1.0 so I got the Apex trigger kit to resolve the main issue with the pistol. The only downside is the trigger reset is really short so the follow up shot comes faster than you expect but something you overcome with practice. I just ordered the Hogue grip sleeve after watching your video, reasonable at $15. Thanks for your video, insightful perspective.
As a fellow Cali resident, the Shield Plus was added to the roster in 9mm, that being said, the Sig P365 has 2 models on the roster as well. I personally love S&W and the gen1 Shield 9mm was my first firearm purchase and I still love it, however, the Sig cannot be underestimated for it being thinner for carry and more customizable.
I'd really like to have the TN tristar edition, but i can't bring myself to spend the money. I'd never carry the thing due to fear of losing it if i had to use it
Shield plus 30 super carry is 249 at grab a gun. Use the magguts with the 13rd magazine and it gives you 17rds. That’s what I use and I have both pluses in 9mm and 30sc. 30sc HST does exactly what 9mm HST does. You lose nothing in ballistics.
They work, but only for the 7 round mags. It also is the same length as the 8 round mags. Go with the magguts +2 kits. Those work for both 7 and 8 round mags without added length and either 9+1 or 10+1 capacity
@@roadwarriormp88 But 7 rounds plus 2 = 9 is still 1 round better than a stock 8 rounder, right? I've thought about Magguts but worry about reliability on new tech.
@@mdubb4855 10+1 is even better. I have both the pearce grip and magguts set ups. Both of them work with some range time to ensure they cycle correctly. It's ultimately personal choice but I prefer magguts since the lengths are still the same as OEM length is just a spring change out
Knew tha deck was stacked agin me, but I tried Strike +1, + Magguts +1, in my Shield .40. No go! Lotsa failures to go into battery, n other weirdness. 😕 Magguts is same spring for 9/40, n I thinkit really don't have the "oomph" for .40. If they did offer'a beefier spring for .40, wouldit affect capacity?
The shield plus is not the thinnest micro 9 that's a stack and a half... the p365 is thinner, in fact I think the shield plus is the thickest by a slight margin
I shoot my shield 40 M 2.0 performance center better than my Shield. Plus. I shoot my shield plus better than any Of the other micro 9mm. The Shield lineup is awesome
I carry the shild plus. With the safety. But mine is a metal Gray color. Different. I haven't seen another one like it so far. All the ones I have seen. Are black. I also ordered me a equalizer magazine. Fitts the shield. 15. +1. Awesome weapon. Love mine.
@@user-ov6yd9mz8e I haven't had a problem, but one vlogger had a problem with a Glock they Cerakoted, it developed FTF problems it did't have before, they though maybe increased drag. However who knows if Cerakote comes in differenct thicknesses, and if S&W compensated the fit. I am thinking about getting a simple Armornite finish on my next one though, even though those Cerakote color combos are wild.
I'm gonna stop the video five seconds in. Yes, yes you should get a Shield Plus. Awesome trigger, super aggressive grip texture, optic ready with night sights out of the box, and 15 rounds with a factory magazine. Still the best micro 9mm on the market for the money.
+1 on the 30SC. Seems it was marketed more to 9mm diehards who weren't going to spring for more expensive ammo than to the 380 fence sitters who would be more likely to try a comparably priced but better performing round. Oh well.
Good video, right? Right. Thanks for the video, right? Right. I've personally had 2 gen 1 Shield's, right? And then 2 gen 2.0's, right? The Shield Plus is great, right? However for now the original versions are fine, right? Right.
People will hate on anything now a days. Hickok45 just spoke on the internet being full of unhappy idiots. Do your thing man, it only helps my channel, right?
“Throw on a Hogue grip”? It’s hard to do. I gave up. The folks at Sportsman later spent half an hour wrestling it on for me. Congrats if it was easier for you.
@@spnfirearms No it isn't , i had accidental discharge because safety failed !!! I like the shield and want to get a PLUS version without a safety !!! And your a dumb , good way to talk to subscribers!!!
In an interview federal actually said that 30 super carry is becoming more popular and they will be coming out with a new line of hollow point super carry round.
30 super carry, ppppllllllllllllllltttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. Less power than 9mm. Commiechusetts can only have 10 rounds so capacity means nothing to a lot of us.
It's a very appealing idea. It's what I'd like for the house. Right now, though, got a .40 Shield 1.0 ... which is definitely better than a 5 shot 38 special revolver. A lot better, but someday a G27, G23.
Very happy with the Shield Plus chambered in 30 Super Carry. Give it time. The market will come around to the 30 SC just like it did for the 5.7*28 mm.
