Divvy bikes are everywhere in Chicago, but given the price and the pain of using them, I couldn't figure out why anyone would bother. I did some math, and found out why people do.

I think a comparison to a commuter with a CTA monthly pass is warranted here. even at 3 days / week.

Citibike (NYC), BlueBikes (Boston, MA), Bay Wheels (Bay Area, CA), CoGo (Columbus, OH), Denver bikes (Denver, CO), Biketown (Portland, OR), Capital Bikeshare (DC) and Divvy (Chicago, IL) are all run by Lyft now.
