Well, two months ago my helix piercing starting to from bump and had puss coming out and was very sore. Despite my best effort of cleaning it thrice a day with saline solution it was still infected. And that was a piercing did in a very professional piercing shop with needle, not guns. So I started making this very concentrated salt “paste” basically just sea salt with a tiny bit of hot distilled water enough to make it to become liquid-ish, but not too much that it dissolves the salt. Along with that I add a drip of tea tree oil to help with the redness. Then I put that thing around the bump and my piercing, front and back. Left it on the whole day and immediately the night before I went to bed the soreness went away, did that 3 days in a row twice a day the bump disappeared. Now I just clean my newly done piercing with saline solution and top it off with one drip of tea tree oil. Been doing it since then every day and my piercing not only is perfectly fine, but it’s healing faster. Of course that’s just my case. I’m not sure if it will work for everyone. But tea tree oil definitely is helping my helix piercing healing process a lot.
Wow you’re a mind reader. I have an irritation bump on my piercing that developed this past weekend. I almost purchased one of those oils aimed for piercing bumps. Something told me not to and then you post this. Thank youuuuu!!!
There’s at least one piercing studio that has frequently recommended tea tree oil on their channel. They’ve said to dilute it, but not how. Oil and water don’t mix on their own, so diluting with water won’t really work and you can still end up with basically full strength tea tree oil on your piercing. IF you were going to dilute tea tree oil to use on a piercing you would need to use an oil like emu oil, but like you said would have to be a tiny amount because it is so potent and drying. But odds are people would us too much tea tree oil and do more harm than good, so it’s better to avoid entirely. Your emu oil suggest as worked great when my (not new) piercing is feeling dry and thus getting itchy and irritated.
hey Scott, you mentioned Emu oil - can you do a video why you recommend Emu oil specifically? a second video idea would be great seeing the dif between an irritation bump, a keloid and any other bumps you tend to see around piercings! thanks!
Saline solution. anything else beyond that thats felt to be necessary is only going to lead to either rejection, infection or was a botch job from the piercer.
For those who just recently switched their piercing to a hoop after having a stud and developed a bump, I suggest just going back to a stud and it should go away! I used Teatree oil as well and it did nothing and my only option was to move back to a stud, even though I really really didn’t want to but it ended up going away and I changed it back to hoop a few months later and it was good
i used tea tree oil on my nose piercing bumps from yearsss ago and regretted it. it felt like all it did was make them dry but still irritated. salt water soaks were the only thing that finally made them go away. love your informative videos !
Thank you so much man. Watching your videos has helped me update my education on irritation bumps the actual causes of them. Thank you for introducing me to emu oil. I'm now looking into Desert palms emu ranch and trying to get a wholesale order worked out. Stay awesome homie.
Scott as i said in your live a few days ago.. Btw it wasn t my piercer who said tea tree oil and an aspirin it was the shop manager.. I never use tea tree oil.. I only rinse them with luke warm water and use my saline spray..
I used it on my nostril piercing bump and it completely destroyed the healthy skin all around my piercing. Looked and felt like a chemical burn. Has taken 6 months to finally get my skin to look and feel normal again. Very much regret it.
when I got my left nostril pierced recently i got a bad bump on the inside of my nose and it was heaps painful. I tried to wait for it to go away and kept doing salt water soaks, but it was there for at least three weeks before I went to the internet and someone (maybe on Reddit I think?) said that chamomile presses helped theirs. so, naturally, I stuck a teabag up my nose and to my surprise it actually made the swelling go down by a lot ! after the chamomile I usually cleaned it again with saltwater just to be safe. I don't know if a professional would recommend this though or if it is actually safe but it worked heaps for me :)
I have used it for all my piercings, BUT, diluted with an moisturising skin and wound friendly oil. It worked wonders for me. And I will never stop using it for any skin irritation/infection I might get. Its natural directly from mother earth her self. The disinfectant I got from the piercing shop only did half as good.
I've tried Tea Tree for bumps (nostril), it only kinda helped, but didn't make them worse. I've also asked a piercer about using Emu Oil, and they said to never put any type of oil on a piercing :/ but really the only thing that got rid of the bumps was switching from L studs to horseshoes for me, I think they were a better, more snug, fit and thats why
My industrial was a bit of a rough heal and had irritation bumps. It seemed like it would never go away but just like you said I made sure it was clean, didn’t sleep on it or bump it and used a heat compress and it went away after a week
Tried it on a piercing bump and it burned and turned into a tiny red bubble lol I kept coming and going turns out all I needed to was to keep a stud in longer before wearing a hoop , when the shops closed down due to COVID I had a titanium push fit stud in for 8 months straight 😂 hadn’t had a piercing bump since apparently I needed more time for mine to heal and wearing a stud on and off for 2-3 months then switching to a hoop wasn’t enough for me
I got my first industrial piercing back in March of this year. I got a bump on the top of my piercing, it goes away and within weeks comes back. I know that I irritate it while sleeping, how do I prevent from irritating it? I just want it to heal and not have that bump any longer. Thank you so very much for your advice! God Bless!
My girlfriend uses manuka honey (Very rarely now, but she used to use it more often in the past) which I imagine wouldn't dry out the piercing, but I've always been kind of iffy when she tells me she put some on a piercing. I know that manuka honey is very beneficial in a lot of cases, but what do you think? She only has ear piercings and has only put the manuka honey on cartilage, but again, she doesn't use it often, and she makes sure to eliminate any other sources of bumps before putting it on there. (Edit: when I said " in a lot of cases." I meant outside of piercings, I've heard nothing about the benefits of putting this honey on a piercing) I personally havent seen a big difference from after its washed off but she seems to be satisfied with the aftermath.
I used honey and chamomile tea (weak) on a piercing that I thought may have been infected before I could see a doctor… it could have been chance, but it drastically reduced swelling and my body healed it up before I could get a dr appointment (it wasn’t yet emergency care level). HOWEVER, most piercers say use a wound wash only, because that’s all you should need!
I've had a piercer tell me to use tea tree oil. He also told me it doesn't matter whether the titanium in the jewelry is implant grade or not. Two huge red flags. That's how I knew he sucked lol, never went there again.
While my septum was healing. My dog was still a puppy and she hit me so hard that it started to bleed. It healed up fine but with a big sore bump. I put tea tree oil on it for three days and it went away. I swear by it now
I got small bumps at the front and the back of my forward helix because I hit it really hard, it's been a month and the bumps don't get smaller, so the irritation is gone but the bumps aren't:(
my piercings are irritated because i used tea tre oil after i put hydrogen peroxide i know thats the worst but i dont know what else to clean it with please help
Everybody says to clean wood and bone with Jajoba oil... Oil does not clean anything, cleaning means basically wiping gunk off so not the same as disinfecting. My advice use wood wipes. I've been cleaning my bone jewelry with wood wipes for about three years now and nothing's happened to them. I use Jajoba oil to keep them preserved which is different from cleaning. This is just me, whoever takes this advice I hope it helps.
