I'm going through a lot of your videos because we are getting ready to buy a hot springs (most likely the Limelight "Flash" 220v) bc we want the freshwater salt system, however they do offer the Beam in 110v also with freshwater salt system so this is very helpful. It's a significant investment and I'm trying to do my research. I wanted to just thank you for being a tremendous resource of experience based information! Thank you again.

When I bought my hot tub the sales man didn’t tell me the heat rate difference and my 110 hot tub loses heat rather quickly. In a hour you can lose 5 degrees and there’s a major difference from 97 to 92 on a 20 degree night.

I bought a 110v hot tub after much research. I decided to change it over to 220v for heating purposes. Its 20 degrees here currently and i use the tub daily. Here was my issue. Yes it will convert to 220v but ONLY the heater, not the pump. No place does any documentation, or even your video say the pump is NOT convertible to 220v. You can only do this by replacing the pump and impeller. So thats what i did. If i had known this little tid bit before buying a 110v tub i would have bought a 220v tub to begin with. I wish the dealer, manufacturer would make this more clear. Its really deceptive to simply say the tub can be converted when thats only partially true. The jets on a 110v plug and play tub are nearly useless. Thats another reason i decided to go to 220v.
@TheHotTubLady
@TheHotTubLady 2 года назад
I do state that you do not have more power in the jets and you are increasing your heat. More jet power would require bigger pumps yes. There is a difference between 110 and 220 hot tubs for sure and the biggst differnc is in the heat. But with more power, you do get stronger jets and more of them. Thanks so much for watching I do appreciate your support.

A master electrician here in Texas came out and said you definitely need a dedicated circuit installed... owners manual says the same for our lifesmart Bahama 110v? Even though it is a advertised as plug and play. A 1400$ install :-(
@TheHotTubLady
@TheHotTubLady 5 месяцев назад
Yes all plug plays should have a dedicated circuit.
@jjv5344
@jjv5344 5 месяцев назад
@TheHotTubLady Yea but a dedicated circuit means that the entire circuit and breaker is dedicated to one single outlet with no other ceiling fans, ceiling lights, outlets, or appliances on them. No houses come setup this way, as multiple outlets, recessed lighs, fans etc are on each breaker's circuit. Which means the tubs are not actually "Plug and Play" luke advertised since you have to have a dedicated circuit with a single outlet and breaker installed.

@TheHotTubLady
@TheHotTubLady Год назад
@@susiechapin4995 yes they are plug and play. Inflatables are good. However they are disposable most inflatables only last 1-2 years. I live in South Dakota and it gets very cold here. You would not be able to use an inflatable for 5-8 months of the year if you lived someplace warmer you may get a few more months out of it. If you do buy an inflatable make sure you get enough filters to last a life of the tub as past performance. Has the filters go obsolete very quixkly

So converting from 110 to 220 on a plug an Play Hot tub. Does the 4° an hour versus 1° an hour at 110v applied to these type of tubs or is that only standard 220v tub already not rewired as it will probably have a bigger heater than the 110 converted right of the bat or are the one kilowatt heaters capable of doing the four degrees an hour at 220v Thanks

No many 110 are convertible from 110 to 220. However if you would like heat when your Jets are on high you would need a 24 hour circulation pump. If that is the case HotSpring spas has a few models that can do that

So are you saying 110 vs 220 should not change the power bill that much? I bought the low end Azure from free flow but considering moving up to a salt water system after seeing your reviews. The size of the Azure is perfect just hate dealing with those chemicals as often and the surface is a little rough compared to the acrylic.
@TheHotTubLady
@TheHotTubLady Год назад
The actual energy bill will be minima yes. You will have the cost of getting the 220 wired. Here in South Dakota average cost is around $1200 but every home is different. But monthly bil will be about the same. Salt water is great. I would look at the JetsetterLX if you like the size of the Azure
@KBradAdams
@KBradAdams Год назад
@@TheHotTubLady Yeah I was quoted around 2K to 2,500 for the 220 because I had no spare or open slots in my fuse box. So that was pushing the other hot tub up and I just found out that one does not convert to salt so sort of glad I didn't spend the extra money.

What are your thoughts on the Softub brand? They swear their plug n play is less expensive on your electric bill than a 220 V.
@TheHotTubLady
@TheHotTubLady 2 года назад
So yes 110 will cost a few pennies less per month on your electric bill. But you will only heat about 1 degree an hour vs 4. So there is that. Soft Tub has been around a long time and has a good quality tub. Things to consider are eventually the liner on the inside will have to be changed and it has been years since I had to do that but if I remember correctly it is like $800 to do so. Also, check on serviceability. They have elimaited their dealer base and they require you to send the "PAC" in for service and that can add up quickly. Other than those two items Soft Tub is a good tub. I would maybe look at a Fantasy, Freeflow or possibly a Dreammaker Spa in that same price range, for comparison purposes.

It says in the manual that its wired 110, but can be converted to 220. Its summer time and so we don't really need the heater, so can we hook it up to 110 for now? Will it hurt the tub?
