@earnieboy54 10 месяцев назад
@@tanner6880 actually it is logical. Better muscle development happens when you a stress or exercise the natural motion of muscles joints. And after watching this video I did some research and one of the first things to come up was why some lifters have weirdly developed or unbalanced looks to certain muscle groups and it’s because of the neglect to train the whole muscle. It might look stupid to you but your agility, stamina, overall look, and joints will thank you later. No need for the sour comment. Then again, it’s YT so.

@@tanner6880 I'm sorry you don't see this for what it is. many guys with monster shoulders can no longer put their arms overhead or behind their back. You are thinking size, but functionality is key. especially over 35, but its a case of use it or lose it at any age. You can have big shoulders and flexible shoulders. or you can be just another lifter with a torn rotator cuff who cant put his arms up anymore.
@tanner6880

so you think that 350lbs pure muscle lineman in football hang from a pullup bar during weightlifting? no... no they dont. This movement is unnecessary and a waste of time and not only that. its also misleading telling people to stay away from shoulder pressing and lateral raises as these things are proven to build muscle in the shoulders? if you want to maintain mobility, you stretch, you drink water, you stretch some more, this is not functional training, its a joke.@@paulcox2447

It depends on your goals. If you train with a lot of weight and you do stuff like this, you increase the risk of hurting yourself. For warm up/mobility or maybe against some sort of shoulder pain this is great, but if you want to build huge shoulders, thats not the right way.
@RainWhenIDieKane

@@RainWhenIDieKane No bro. Its always an easy movement with a lot of weight. Up and down, left & right, back and f... If you do what the guy in the vid does, but with a lot of extra weight hanging on you, you will hurt your shoulder the moment you move it. Thats why we all never saw this Bs in real life in any gym. You think any bogybuilder or prof. Fitness athlete does that bullshit? If you fall today & you start to have shoulder pain, you probably get told to do stuff like this, but not if you want massive shoulders. I saw this vid and tried it in my home gym and I literally felt something weird in my shoulder for a few moments then it stopped. I continued a few times and now the motion up and down with my arms does not cause the binding soreness it use to at that spot in its range of motion. Best way to keep your shoulders strong ... is by having a strong back (scapular stability), having your arms over the head for a long time (overhead press for example) will lead you to a labrum tears, specially pull ups position, much worse if you don't have a strong back. I had a shoulder reconstruction, and the first thing the doctor told me, was that my back was unstable and it happened due to excess on overhead excercises. Focused on training my back after surgery ... and now I can say I have strong and healthy shoulders, NOT BIG but strong and healthy. Also, remember the trade-off of the shoulder. You trade 3 dimensional motion in expense of being a naturally unstable joint. No meaning of being disrespectful.

I don’t think this is necessarily true if you understand how helical angles work which is what muscles are formed from. A lot of our shoulder mobility actually comes from our ribcage’s ability to expand and inversely close the infrasternal angle. The rest of the rotation is superimposed in 4 different ways, eccentric yielding, concentric yielding, eccentric overcoming, and concentric overcoming. By forcing an end range on a hold like this you would potentially just orient with spinal substitution into eccentric overcoming if you don’t have the space necessary at the shoulder. Eccentric overcoming is a late propulsion contraction which biases you towards the end of gait cycle to produce force. Yes you will strengthen *something*, but you will also lose space since the joints have to orient to lock into maximum shoulder internal rotation in this movement.
@agnidas5816
@agnidas5816 10 месяцев назад
Right on! nothing helped my shoulder mobility more than massaging out all around the rib cage - front, back , side In fact I think that is why hanging is so good for shoulder health - it stretches lats out ... I build shoulder strength with movements that use less twisting and still find increased shoulder strength and toughness also carry over to push ups etc
@andrewdowell4562

Dude you might be 100% correct but 99.99 percent of people won’t understand a word you’re saying. Try to rephrase that a little
@TOSUnbound
@TOSUnbound 10 месяцев назад
@@agnidas5816 I recommend pressing unilaterally on an inclined bench with good food contact. Pushups are more likely to ER the humerus and IR the radius creating a twist at the elbow over time. It also places a lot of bilateral top down pressure on the ribcage which impacts mobility poorly over time.
@woahitsmeach9150
@woahitsmeach9150 10 месяцев назад
i’m confused how do you lose space, like your overall range of motion would be lowered, but the supporting tendons and structure would be strong? i’m also wondering how likely injury is in a movement like this, and how does it compare to holding weight and rotating the shoulder the same way, as opposed to hanging
@TOSUnbound
@TOSUnbound 10 месяцев назад
@@woahitsmeach9150 When you build strength you are superimposing the internal rotation from a distal joint onto the external rotation of the proximal joint. This is why you lose space because if the proximal joint cannot internally rotate because you only internally rotated at the distal joint you will end up creating a “disagreement” where say the humerus wants to externally rotate excessively while the radius internally rotates excessively. This is your typical cubital tunnel syndrome or medial knee pain. It applies to everything.

Also your example of "shoulder rotation" was mostly pronation and supination, which is primary bicep/tricep and forearm driven.
