first the engagement picture from last year, then the sheer number of internet ppl commenting congratulating them, then them doubling down the next day, then damien confirming it, then the people magazine article like i have to believe it. but STILL i’ve seen them for years as JUST FRIENDS so it’s still so shocking. i have trouble believing it even thought i know it’s probably real but my mind is literally blown. i’m so excited for them but my body is still lagging like i seriously can’t believe it.

UPDATE: People Magazine just put out an interview with Courtney after the announcement. (Amanda’s worlds are colliding and that’s so fucking funny) In it she describes how happy she is to be marrying her best friend, and that the response is both hilarious and heartwarming!

Yeah I couldn't agree more. I honestly still find the Shourtney fan pages I've skimmed through a little uncomfortable. Even if they turned out to be based in reality, it just doesn't seem very healthy to spend so much time on someone else's relationship like that. That said, it is a double-edged sword because Shayne and Courtney have chosen to share so much of themselves as public figures, not just as actors but as people, so it's more complicated than ever to draw lines because we glimpse their real-life dynamic for entertainment. It's the whole parasocial problem, impossible not to develop genuine fondness for these complete strangers. I admit I am pretty curious now to know when their relationship began and how they dealt with it through Smosh, I hope they will feel okay sharing the timeline.

my understanding of the whole thing is that Shayne and Courtney did get married this past week and announced it to fans on April Fools for funzies. (This has been confirmed by them, their friends, and their coworkers beyond April 1st). These clips however have been sourced from videos from before the announcement just because I really like their dynamic beyond their romantic relationship and I wanted to celebrate their announcement in the way I know!
