Because the people who were making them are all dead. Now, filmmakers copy other films and their special effects! Silly shaky camera effect makes film unwatchable! The film industry is only concerned with making money; a mass production cheap films are very desirable by them. It's such a shame, I agree.

Lee Marvin said of Roger Moore after the fight scene "he's as tough as granite ... no-one will underestimate him ever again." Man, this film was excellent. I wish that Peter Hunt had directed at least one of Roger Moore's Bond films. He brought out the best in Moore. Hunt directed Moore in Gold, which is another high action thriller. Some of Moore's scenes in this are grittier than grittiest Bond films. And Lee Marvin was fantastic. I loved his expressions to Muhammed. Only 3 years Moore's senior!!

This movie is adapted from Wilbur Smith's novel of the same name. I read the novel over 40 years ago, and saw this movie at the theaters in 1979 (?). Loved the novel and the movie. Now I've just finished watching it again. Some wonderful memories attached with the it. Friends, girlfriends, discos, bell bottom jeans....😢

❤😂🎉 I also read the Wilbur Smith book. But could not remember the plot. I am watching the movie for the first time. I think I read most of Wilbur Smith's books. I sm reading King of Kings now and my favourite was : When The Lion Feeds . I don't think Gold Mine was very goid. Another movie based on a Wilbur Smith story.

The director of this movie is Peter Hunt. He is best known as an editor. He edited all the classic Bond moves from Dr No, to Diamonds are forever. His second unit director is Jon Glen. He directed most of the classic Bond movies. Both men new Moore as they had worked with him on the Saint TV series.

I thought I was about to watch a Horror movie, as that was the mood I was in when searching. I almost closed this several times, but kept reading the positive comments, saw who was in it, and decided to give it shot. Man am I glad I did!!! This was a really great movie! It was an emotional roller coaster, and at times a bit over the top (the drinking angle, some goofball moments, and even slapstick here and there) but overall a very entertaining and enjoyable experience. If you’re on the fence...go for it! It’s worth the ride!

Thanks for posting and sharing. this film was a success in the last century but I doubt it would be today because you only see superheroes and CGI unlike this one that favors the scenarios that are magnificent with fantastic landscapes. It gives importance to detail, using magnificent scenery using the colors of the technicolor that makes the color alive and bright. Instead of spending money on computer images, he takes advantage of exotic landscapes and creates artistic scenarios, being a pearl for the lover of the seventh art. the number of secondary characters and extras is impressive and well choreographed. He does not intend to be presumptuous or pedantic, but humbly demonstrates the mastery of directing and doing the work with a demonstration of wisdom, whether in acting in a careful manner and in an extremely well executed cadence, creating in the spectator the feeling of being immersed in the work being committed to making a film and not using and abusing cuts and with wide plans and beautiful depth and scenic setting In short in its genre and type of film it is a classic that becomes a masterpiece! Thanks again! This is the real thing and unfortunately is a dying breed!

Another good film, and as usual, the full film at 1080P, good sound, and I assume it took your some time and effort to make sure the quality and sound was good. and, as usual, no annoying adverts. This must be the best channel for posting films, as many others post bad resolution films even from films from 2000 or so, which can some times be blurry and a bit painful to watch, especially as this film came out in 1976. Roger More and Lee Marvin make a good match, and the film was pretty good too. Yes, I have subscribed.....:)

I was an extra in a TV pilot with Barbara (Law of the Land, with Don Johnson) about the same time this was made. Asked her out for a beer, and she ever so graciously declined. Sure was purty.

@@CaptainNavman That's the one. I'm the guy horseback, blond, in a bowler hat (how I got my screen name, Blond Bowler), and, earlier in the film, getting off the train. Later, in a cavalry uniform in the snow, but you can't tell who's who in that long shot. Sure was fun, $3.50/hr and all you can eat at the commissary. Thanks for posting.
