List of things king knight did to provoke the bosses: Insults specter knight Barges into plague knight's lab Destroys a nice underground bathtub Scares away a fish Steals a rose Tinker is just paranoid F L E X on king pridemoor dump some apples into a lake Abandons a planet to their fate
@@thecoolguy4775 I felt the same, like, come on At least even Plague and Spectre had some redeeming qualities and moments in their campaign, King Knight just goes full douchebag.
@@TheJadeFist I mean, only having a bad ending isn't exactly bad, you expected him to be the good guy and save the world and all of that jazz (except for Spectre knight). But watching him being the villain is a pretty good plot twist, and I'm pretty sure this ending is probably better than the good ending (not the "everyone is happy" type of better)
Man the different playthroughs for plague knight, specter knight, and king knight really put it in perspective just how strong shovel knight is lmao. After everything they had been through shovel knight just decimates them all no problem
Even though its her manipulating him for her own ends, Enchantress has a point about the other Kings not acting very king-ly by hiding behind King Knight during the final battle.
not to mention the "yes YOU proved yourself" line, in the end the only ones to "help" him did so by selling him various things or pointing out the next joustus judge, because it was their job. king knight did almost everything, with birdirr being the only one to actually assist with finding the enchantress, funnily enough, birdirr ends up staying in the tower with specter knight as an npc. not to mention he fights an amalgamation of the three royals (or two plus the trouple acolyte) so he was probably not in the most forgiving mood at the end the only one he actually cared about was his mother, he even makes a point to exclude her from the "riff raff" he talks about.
@@masonjones7777 Nah, they really did believe in him despite king Knight being a massive douche the whole way to all of them. Maybe if King Knight Didn't destroy pridemoors mech for instance he could help out. Without the other kings and the Airship crew King Knight would have gotten himself nowhere.
DrMostlySane Well we don’t send our world leaders into battle for obvious reasons, there’s a reason the Presidents of the United States don’t often fight on the frontlines, they’re supposed to lead us to victory, not actually fight.
@@davidspektorov8262 again, it was their JOB. they were required to help him, rather than it being out of the kindness of their heart. Even the bard and the captain only picked him up because their previous champ died so they were out of options. The entire tournament wasn't even a test for him to become a real king (in the Baz fight king knight tries to explain this), it was a challenge rewarding treasure for it's completion. Which means that even if they "helped him" it was to become a great joustus player, a game which he doesn't even like, considering his first decree as a king. I'm not trying to justify his actions, he is still a terrible person, but he is a terrible person for a REASON, everything up till now didn't matter to him (aside from his mother) so why should he care at all? He certainly didn't feel like they were his friends and thru his skewed eyes he probably didn't think they really helped him. and lastly king Pridemoor brought up his mother at the WORST time possible, right after he had to destroy a giant monster in Pridemoor's (and two other's) image.
Something I find interesting about king of cards is that unlike plague of shadows and specter of torment where we learn that there is more to plague knight and specter knight than what we see in shovel of hope, king knight is the exact same person across all campaigns he doesn't have another side to him that makes him sympathetic. He is a selfish person who only cares for himself and he stays that way for the whole game.
Definitely, this campaign in my opinion had my least favorite ending, even though you know how its going to end for him just like in SoT it still sucks to see him do that to everyone that's stuck by him but I guess that's the point of his character.
@@TheWonder_OfU Exactly. Even though I saw that's where it was going, I still ended with a bad taste in my mouth from his betrayal. Which made me play through Shovel of Hope again lol
Naive is not the world I would use. Self absorbed sounds more like it. The guy embodies the saying "pride come before the fall". He got everything only for it to mean nothing. Just as how the justice crown ment nothing.
Man its really sad to see king knight utterly ruin himself at the end, especially after all youve played through. AND KING KNIGHTS MOM DESERVES BETTER, SHE LOVED HER BABY BOY U G H-
@@vectorricktenson216 I think Kings ending was also a bit obvious like Specters because of his before fight dialogue in SoH but I still see what you mean it was definitely my least favorite ending but I think that's what's so cool about this campaign you really get the feel that King Knight is heartless and only thinks of himself which is the point, still my least favorite ending
It's pretty well-established for the most part, namely King of Cards->Specter of Torment (Showdown happens right before the end of Specter)->Shovel of Hope/Plague of Shadows. The only unclear parts would be the bits of Shovel of Hope and Plague of Shadows that contradict each other, like what happened to Armor Outpost or how the battle royale in the Tower of Fate played out
Lyon Cobalt shovel knight was knocked out and dreamed that he defeated the order of no quarter. Plague knight actually defeated them all. The armor outpost is wiped out after shovel knight finished all of his business there. Did that help explain?
@@hughjanus4933 I don't think so, remember that PoS is a story seen by the perspective of Plague Knight, Shovel Knight is the hero and I think that he beat all the order of no quarter and then save them
Specter Knight: The Order of No Quarter will soon be upon us all, and you shall be doomed. King Knight: I’m sorry, is this some sort of peasant joke that I’m too rich to understand?
To be honest, I thought that the Gildewing crew would betray King Knight due to how suspicious they were for me at the beginning of the game and that betrayal would lead King Knight to he is at the shovel of hope.
"Yeah, our last champion died before the first Judge. No biggie, didn't think you'd care" Even King Knight was suspicious of them in his dialogue with the ghost.
@@empoleon7750 ok, but powered up cheated. They didn’t have their own stories, they just let you play the same levels in the same order with different attacks
Well bard is wearing an armor. Nobody in this whole game wears an armor for no reason! Most likely his weapon is his tunes, attacking like the one enemy in kirby
If anyone has trouble fighting the Trouple King, here's a tip: Use the Turncoat when he uses his Trouple wave attack. The max charge absolutely shreds his health bar
chummy uy at least he gets what he deserves later on. Can’t help but imagine what the king and his mother think of him by the time he’s scrubbing floors.
Ok so there's all these people stating how much King Knight sucked as a ruler and how he failed. *But we aren't going to mention how this man only bought FOUR HEIRLOOMS?*
I think that Giga Cardia is a reference to Culex from Super Mario RPG because they are both purple secret bosses who use red, blue, yellow and green crystals. Also, the areas you fight them in both seem to be outer space. Cardia is from another planet and Culex is from another dimension, but I realize that part is more of a stretch.
Other way around, Giga Cardia isn’t derivative of Culex. They’re BOTH referencing the same thing/source. They’re not actually Final Fantasy characters but with their spacey backgrounds, large detailed sprites, elemental crystals flying around them, they’re both supposed to reference the style of classic Final Fantasy bosses
The time line of this is King of cards happens first Spectre of torment happens next The shovel of hope and plague of shadows parallels each other and then splits the time line
I don't think there is a timeline split as the events fall into place rather nicely. The last two just happen at the same time with some embellishment from Plague knight.
@@andresmarrero8666 actually, King of Cards totally contradicts Plague of Torment, since the Troupple King's acolyte turned good after Plague of Torment and King Knight didn't really joined the Enchantress till Plague if Torment.
@@fireman9322 are they? is that explained in any other way? I mean, I know there are those fishes that also act as acolytes, but I didn't knew there were more than one Troupple King Acolyte. Even so, it is still weird that in King of Cards, King Knight decided to go on with the Enchantress himself, but then Specter Knight had to go to him and beat the shit out of him for him to join, even though he already did?
It's an amazing story, that's a fact, the way things fit together and so on, but I missed one thing: Why is he so obsessed with being king? What made him such a sucker?
Well if you look at his house and room it looks like he grew up in a very low level peasent life, also we have to remember king knight is a human and at the end of the game he was probably very freaked out and scared even if he didn't show it and the last thing he needed to hear in that moment in his mother being brought up.
Also in the fairy dream when you pick the king knight fairy and read it's description king knight doesn't see himself in a very good light but See's everyone else very highly even though he doesn't show it.
He has a heart of a kid and a momma's boy but he was given to much power at once and in the final battle of the game he let the enchanter's sliver tounge get to him.
I was honestly kinda hoping for a duel ending where you could choose to betray your friends or not. I think it would still make sense for King Knight to stay loyal to his friends because "it would build a stronger kingdom" and how the kingdom offered to him by the enchantress would be "fake".
Acutally, that would be bad. On paper it sounds good, but when making a prequel, you are not meant to give very much choices. Assassin's Creed is getting hate because of this only. Like why can we choose our gender and team and people and shit. This is way too absurd
The design is definitely very similar, and I wouldn't be surprised if Joustus was inspired by Skystones, but it's actually pretty different gameplay wise. In Skystones, the goal is to have the most cards of your color on the board once all spaces on the board have been occupied, which you do by changing the color of the enemy's cards with the arrows. In Joustus, you can't change the color of the cards unless you use certain cards or the Gem Trick, but you can push them across and out of the board, and the goal is to have more cards of your color on the green gems than the opponent before all spaces are occupied.
Shovel Knight: Hero of the Tale Plague Knight: Anti-Hero Parallel Specter Knight: Tragic Anti-Hero forced down servitude to evil King Knight: The Villainous Jerk who will do whatever he wants to unrighteously take the throne
You need to have more gems claimed then your opponent when the play area is filled or there are no legal moves remaining. You can not place a card directly onto a gem, it must be pushed there.
*So this is how it goes:* *spectre knight's DLC = prequel* *shovel knight/main game: present* *king knight's and plague knight's DLCs: backstories of plague knight and king knight respectively*
Well, Plague Knight's is not so much a prequel as... a parallel or alternative story? It's kinda implied to happen at the same time as Shovel of Hope despite kinda being hard to mash them together. Less of a "backstory" and more just a "story". King Knight's, however kind of is a backstory, but it's also just as much a prequel to the prequel, showing how the Valley became in the state it is in Specter of Torment (for example, the ending shows Mr. Hat setting up shop int he Armor Outpost, the ousting of King Pridemoor, how Baz came to believe that defeating a Knight made you one, why the Troupple King hides beneath the waters of his pond, etc.). If Specter of Torment is the prequel focusing on how the bosses came to serve the Enchantress, then King of Cards is how the Valley came to be devoid of virtually any legitimate authority or large scale opposition to the Enchantress.
@@MrPhantaze Yeah, you're right. I fought King in SoT again, the dialogue is like King is already working for them, Specter went to Pridemoor because he was slacking, not to subjugate him. That's where I was mistaken.
Imagine going on a massive quest, amassing a band of strange, interesting, and supportive allies who all see you as an up and coming savior, and even being offered the chance to become the hero of a world in a different universe. Got that image in your head? Feels nice, right? *Now imagine stealing and destroying everything your allies hold dear and condemning another world to destruction because of your greed and because a funny flying green lady told you she'd let you be a king.* Man... It feels good to know that you can beat the hell out of King Knight the first chance you get in Shovel of Hope.
@Gameboy224 I agree about the play style but King does not have half the health. Everyone is 10 at maximum, though Plague requires 3 health tonic every time he dies.
depends of how you see it i found plague of shadows to be the hardest one in my case because i'm not used to play as a bomber, but if i remember correctly, specter of torment (and probably king of cards) have a higher difficulty
Yes. He's one of the members of the Order of No Quarter, a band of knights under the enchantress that conquered and ruled over the valley for years. Also, he's a terrible person in general.
He lost on the baz fight. You can see the money tight after baz stops talking. When you get in to that kind of fight, if you lose they don't talk again. They just go straight to fighting. SO THAT MEANS HE CHEATED. some how though, I'm not sure how but I'm on to you. 2:37
I loved king of cards but DANG do i hate king knight’s personality, I would’ve been happy if i owned a whole airship with a bunch of friends instead of ditching them.
King Knight got the ending an egotistical jerk like him deserved. Nobody likes him, and what little he did get is about to be stolen from him forever. People like King Knight don't deserve anything at all, save a good thrashing. And he has 3 to look forward to!
I liked his individual quirks but all those quirks together make a bad person he is childish egotistical and selfish which can be a fun character to watch but you cant relate to them.
But seriously how old is king knight he seems to actually have the mind of a 10-12 year old child. But based one how he was able to do what he is doing in the game and how specter knight seems to know him he would have to be atleast 18
Well some people hope that he get all the girls including the enchantress herself in the end. Eventually, it didn't..... but don't give that to 'those guys' idea.
You see. Games like Shovel Knight/Spectre Night/King Knight/Fuckin poison knight I can never for the life of me remember the name of. Are timeless. Unlike complete shit games (fortnite, cod bo4, basically any 3rd to 1st person shooter) these games are always good and won't die
