gotta say, there's something weird and awesome about seeing one of my favorite modern 8bit music composers comment on a *brand new piece* by one of the OG 8bit music composers, a lady that surely inspired us both over 25 years ago and yeah, this is easily one of my fave tracks in the game, even if she only did a couple they're incredible

Manami Matsumae is a freelance composer, who composed the original Megaman, and contributed to 10's OST. While she didn't work very much in the field compared to other video game composers, she certainly started a -fantastic- legacy. I'm sure she sparks a love for music in more than a few young children.

Jjjj The basslines in this game are INCREDIBLY reminiscent of MM10's. Except Kaufman made them dance in a way I've never heard before. What a soundtrack...my God...

What would that song be without this part? Nothing. It would be nothing. This is the most important part of the composition. Removing it would spell doomsday for the human populous and plunge the world into dire catastrophe while the technologically advanced societies rain flechettes on the world from their large aircrafts and battle to the death with rams like the ancient greeks, except it's in the sky, and the rammed aircrafts spiral down onto the surface and cause a brilliant explosion.

He had a wavy speed pattern. He was fast when he was moving but he stops for moments too. and you can get nice openings for an attack by avoiding the anchor. Mole Knight started me a bit on the wrong side because I had to get used to how hectic he was.

Easiest boss in the game, imo. Can be beaten in ~10-15 seconds, without using any items. Shovel jumps ftw!

NIKENITIUS Stay bouncing on his head for TOO long, however, and he'll shoot his anchor straight up. Still easy to avoid though :3

It's funny, I just ended this stage in New game+ moments ago, I died twice, both near the checkpoints But still, in New Game+ this stage gets ANNOYING! >:(

It wasn't to big of a problem for me on normal, other than the final torpedo segment before you get to Treasure Knight.

So goddamn incredibly well suited to make you feel like you're in a rusty old ship under the sea It is my favourite song from the soundtrack for that very reason almost though, because it combined with the feel of the place from the graphics and everything just resonated with me for some weird reason... I broke up with my long standing girlfriend at the start of this summer, and finding this game recently and playing that level, with its atmosphere of isolation, felt both sad and still oddly comforting somehow. Like as if down there in that ship, I was completely free of what anyone else, free to just be alone with myself for a while. I was mostly together with her because I had felt like being in a relationship is something you're "supposed" to be, and since I she was interested in me, I figured I might as well be with her. Which is a damn stupid way of thinking. Gradually she wanted to change me, because it was clear that I wasn't what she wanted. But I eventually realized that changing for her at all was changing too much, since it would never be enough, because I could never change into a different person. What she really needed was clearly someone else, and what I really needed was to just get to decide everything by myself. After the breakup I was pretty much at a loss to what to do after being so used to planning around her, and ended up just sitting in front of my computer. But I am so much happier now after all of it, studying maths and indulging in all of my hobbies. Just being free to do what I want and not have to deal with people when I don't want to, like the introverted nerd that I am. And Treasure Knight definitely played a part in getting me motivated to start knowing what I wanted again. A thousand leagues below there are no ex girlfriends or obligations. Only you, and the damp and the dark, but plenty of room for your thoughts. And as it turns out, that's a mental place that I needed. Never would have thought that a retro platformer would make me reflect on important life lessions! ;)
