Great content. I recently acquired a 1969 electraglide from my father in law. When I press the start button, sometimes the start will click sometimes it wont. If I press starter button in and hold, eventually it will try to turn over. Starter works intermittently while pressing the button. Should I do the solenoid repair as you have done. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
I have a similar problem that I am struggling getting solved. I only get one click and it seem to come from the starter relay. If I tap the relay while pressing the starter button it generally engage. When I replace the relay it works for a couple of weeks/months but then the issue resurfaces. really bugs me and I dont know what/how to resolve this :( ('81 FLHC)
15:17 15:17 check the ground between the battery solenoid and the starter battery is mounted in rubber it will not ground efficiently running ground wire from your battery ground to your starter ground
The terrible chrome cover is not different from any aftermarket supplier, I've been fixing old Harleys for 30+ years, and if anything, it seems like the stuff they sell is getting worse. To be fair though, the 9 year old Chinese kid that built that cover has never been anywhere even remotely close to a real Harley. The people that sell this stuff are not the ones who have to install it, and when you go to send it back, the postage and hassle isn't worth the trouble, so they win. Just about anything I ever get has somehow had to be modified to get it to work, and if not, it becomes part of my expensive shiny stuff in my garbage can.
