Why can't they film this live with the original cast?! Like they did with Rent, Phantom (though that wasn't original, but hell I still loved it), Oklahoma, etc. I would totally buy it. I saw this musical and this thing was kick ass, I loved every minute of it.
Went today to the German one in Munich. I’m super sceptival when musicals start in other countries than the broadway ones. The cast was amazing. All singers amazing. Amazing show. Fully packed the theater and standing ovantions aftee for ages!
Same here. His singing voice is even very similar to Jack's. I would be in NYC in a second if Jack ever played the role and I'm sure he would be hilarious. I was lucky enough to see it when Dee Snyder played the other guy though, for a limited time, so that was great.
I adore Russell and his accent too. I wasn't thrilled with a few of the changes the movie made -- for one thing, they left out what a womanizer Russell's character was supposed to be (hence the camel toe shirt he wore in the show) which made this scene even more unexpected and funny. But there are things you can do with a movie that you can't do on stage so I really did like the movie. Tom Cruise was surprisingly brilliant in it!
@julianlane7368 This is me, the original commenter, on a different account. Fair enough! I've matured in the ten years since I wrote the comment and I do now feel Tom Cruise ruined the movie. Movie musicals never do come close to the Broadway version.
Cassandra Emagena They are performing in a giant theatre with a lot of people a long way from the stage. You don't over embellish your movements, you don't get seen by most of the audience. Unless they brought binoculars.
This was one of the three broadway shows I saw last August, and though not the best (Nice Work If You Can Get It wins that award), this was the most fun. Sing alongs and people running down the aisles can do that ;D Loved it :D
I saw Nice Work if You Can Get It in January and loved it. (Now I'm curious, what was the third show you saw last year?) I'm a Broadway addict and inquiring minds want to know! I saw Rock of Ages a few years ago with friends and had a terrible seat in a box with an obstructed view of the stage. I loved it but that put a big damper on it. It was when Dee Snyder was in it for a limited time, though, which was pretty cool.
I'm the understudy for the understudy for Lonny and bOTH OF THEM WERE FIRED AND WE ARE TWO WEEKS FROM THE SHOW AND I GOTTA LEARN EVERYTHING so im here to learn from the OG cast
@djpaddleman There are a lot of Broadway shows I wish they would film and release on DVD, but they seem really reluctant to ever do that. Too bad, because although you can do things with movies that you can't do on stage, you can't replicate the wonderful stage atmosphere at all. Still, I'll plan to see the movie because I loved this show.
This is really good and funny but personally prefer the film for the only reason of Russell Brand's English accent I find it makes it's more hilarious!!
