Congratulations to Peter Frampton for finally being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He sounded the same live as he did recorded. That is talent. ❤❤❤
@@Solemnbarrymanilow if you are the "realpeterkennethframpton" I'm delighted to meet you! You are one of a kind. In my book, you are the best guitarist ever! A sexy and professional singer. A classy guy! I've met famous musicians before. I have a music heritage. So I don't get star struck but in your case I cannot say because I've had a crush on you since I was 16. If you are not the "realpeterkennethframpton" get a life you sicko!
I never understand why people say that musicians that are loved around the world 🌎 are - "Underrated"? You do know "Frampton Comes Alive" has sold millions of records, right? Peter's guitar 🎸 work has been loved since Humble Pie. What does a guy have to do to be rated?!
The reason the 70's were so perfect is the sheer talent these folks had playing live, and Peter was at the front of the line here, simply amazing live!
I never met your dad, but I feel I do know him. Every time I put a disc on or crank up the song on the radio, we are high-fiving, hugging, rockin' out... and we look in each other eyes to know the truth, something we can take with us when we must go. Classic Rock and Roll, sixties and seventies, mostly. Not much else.
I want to thank God and my parents for giving me a life that included the great music of the 70's...I feel truly blessed to have lived during this time.
Love Peter Frampton! My friend had Frampton Comes Alive and we always listened to it! I remember how everbody was enamored with that sound he made using the talk box! What a great performance here! Thanks so much!
By the time this clip hit Peter was a decade veteran of rock and roll. He was in his first band, The Herd, at 16 (you can search for clips of him on youtube), and he joined Humble Pie with Steve Marriot when he was 18 (you can find clips of him playing in Humble Pie on youtube also).
From what I recall his solo records after leaving Humble Pie didn't sell too well (even the one with the studio version of this song), but this live album put him over the top into R&R guru status. IIRC "Frampton Comes Alive" and Cheap Tricks "Live at Budakon" were the largest selling albums until Michael Jackson's "Thriller" came out. Great times, great music back then.
WHEN I WAS A TEEN, I HAD A HUGE CRUSH ON THIS BEAUTIFUL MAN. HAD HIM ON MY WALL WITH CHARLIES ANGELS. THE 70-80S WERE BEAUTIFUL TIME TO GROW UP. GREAT MUSIC. GREAT MOVIES. GREAT DISCO. GREAT PEOPLE.
Ashley it was a different exiting world when butterflies in the belly was normal and every one was happy hard to explain really but now this world is like the bowels of hell sorry to say 👍😢
@@bugsy7539 Hi Bugsy yeah I missed out too bad for me I'm sure at LOT of people my age think similar to me about the 70's. I'm happy for you that you got to live it and sad at the same time I didn't however I can watch these video's whenever I like which is daily. Regards.
I was a teenager in the eighties, and this music was not my thing,it was 'old', the cool thing was techno, new age, easy pop songs. Now in my fifties I strongly believe the seventies were the best, I am discovering all the great songs and artists I dismissed in my youth, and I'm so happy with that! Peter Frampton, America, Murray Head ,Starbucks,Guess Who, Neil Young,so many great artists!!!
Same here! I was just putting a bunch of my favorite "roller rink songs" on a playlist, and started watching some of the videos - I always liked the Steve Miller Band, but now wonder why I never watched Peter Frampton - he's great! Always loved that mouth thing in an early Foo Fighters song, and I knew he got the idea from someone... :)
If I recall correctly, this episode was recorded just a couple of weeks after the gigs at Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco, that make up about half of the tracks on "Frampton Comes Alive". Which means these songs were unknown to most of the audience, since the album wasn't released until a couple of months after this show was taped. Imagine being in that audience, on that day, hearing all these amazing songs for the very first time!
His life would change dramatically a few short months after this. Definitely. I remember late in 1977, there was an ABC special (or some network) on Peter Frampton and Kiss. The two biggest acts at that time. Crazy.
@@TheSteveSteeleYou’re right! Frampton had been pre-booked as the opener / support act at the upcoming summer’s big stadium music festivals. In the interim, he exploded! Festival headliner bands (such as Yes) played to half-empty arenas after the new Frampton fans took off.
Every single human being alive in the mid-seventies owned the "Frampton Comes Alive" album. And every one of those records, I distinctly recall, was out near the turntable, never put away with the other LPs. Every copy I saw had a disc-shaped bit of wear and tear on the cover (and, of course, a few stems and seeds stuck inside). I'm so impressed that Mr. Frampton not only survived his mega-fame , but somehow emerged from it all with grace, humility, and an intact work ethic. And he's still with us, and still kills it live! (And not in a sad, golden oldies, "Beach Boys-featuring-one-member-of-the-original-lineup", "PBS fundraiser" kinda way LOL)
I couldn't wait to watch the Midnight Special. It is a awesome show. I was so happy to see Peter Frampton on there. My night was filled with amazing music 🎶 🎵 and a timeless classic artist. They will never have amazing shows like this ever again.
My personal experience with Frampton. I was a teenager when Frampton Comes Alive came out. Later in life, when my son became a teenager he purchased tickets for the both of us to see Peter Frampton live in concert. It was an amazing experience for me enjoying the same performer with my son.
Great to meet you Peter Frampton! Happy Memorial Day! I love your song Show Me The Way; the verse has a spiritual meaning to me. Your song will always be a masterpiece! Thank you for all your beautiful music! I look forward to more songs! God's blessed you with a great gift! God bless you Mr. Peter Frampton! Love, happiness, health, Denise, your devoted fan!!
This is when the Talk box became very ubiquitous in rock music. It was used on albums by many artists/bands at the time including Pink Floyd and Steely Dan. Peter Frampton certainly raised the profile of its use with this classic.
@kthor LOL, love Joe Walsh. I've always thought of his music sounds like it was run through a cocainr filter. 😂 His music would probably suck without all the chemical help.
I watched Peter perform this in the 70’s at Newcastle City Hall. The band was named Frampton’s Camel. They were supporting Uriah Heep who were a band I loved then. I was 15 years old then and I thought Peter Frampton blew them away.
Peter Frampton seemed so big to me back then! Probably because of the perspective of the photo cover on Frampton Comes Alive. It's so funny to see how he was just a small dude with a big sound...I loved that album! Thanks for posting this performance 😁
Wow! Frampton had it all. Great song writing, fantastic guitar chops, stellar band, and he’s a good looking dude. No wonder his career took off the way it did. Thanks for posting this clip.
Peter Frampton lives in Nashville. My brother has met him a couple of times. He's a nice guy. He's yet another rocker who isn't in the Hall of Fame and needs to be.
Can't agree more the 70's was the era for clean and raw beautiful music made by people who loved what they did live. You know it was the best era because of all the new music that features the beat, riffs and sometimes full remakes of classics
The "Midnight Special" videos give me close-up, personal, and front row tickets to my favorite rock star bands, that I long for in my teen years. But sadly, my parents were so abusive, going to a concert was impossible. So here I am.
I was 15 and waited excitedly to see who would be the guest stars, they didn't have a lot of big name rock guys, but this was a treat in 75, Frampton comes alive absolutely blew up for Frampton, I bought that record, "do you feel like we do". Thank you for ride back in time.
Still in the Navy at the time....71'-75'. Had been away at sea for nearly two years on a destroyer. First heard this song in San Diego, Ca.....Loved it! Great song for a young sailor back in the states. Rock on ! :)
Bob Heil Kustom Electronics was the first company to successfully market a talk box but Bob Heil was the guy who built one you could easily play on stage. Heil got the idea for his talk box from Joe Walsh, who was using the box Bill West made with Pete Drake. Still being used to this day.. Yet Frampton made it famous....
He came from from the uk with Steve Marriott‘s Humble Pie and made his way in the us with his guitar and the talkbox - what a wonderful success story -Frampton comes alive 🎸
The first thing I do every morning is watch the latest greatest midnight special video. The only thing that could beat it is watching 2 new videos every day. Thank You midnight special.
I was 10 when the album Frampton Comes Alive! Was released. My godfather bought the album came to my home and played all of it. He really got to enjoy the seventies since he was in his twenties.
Real talent no computers. I miss the music about love. We need more of that for our children instead of the snake music of this fallen world with no morals left.
Framptom Comes Alive was such a monster album. Everybody seemed to have it. "Somebody put on an album" called across the room. Safe choice. The party moves on.
I love his music since 1977; I was living in the country side, in Guatemala , Central América and when I was 14 years old I made I promise to myself and to a friend that one day I would attend one of his concerts "No matter what" and, when I was almost 40 years old, I flew to New York ( around 2004!) went to Westburry: one of the best memories of a dream coming true: "Simply seeing him playing his guitar _in front of me_: Now in 2024 my children love his music as well!
From relative obscurity to classic rock guitar god to top forty teeny bopper to Sargent Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band with the BeeGees to relative obscurity. All in five years. That’s an accomplishment. Pete, you rock.
