QUESTION… Please someone help me with this term (Shekinah) I’m hearing this being used in sermon while visiting a Grace church. The pastors is a graduate from Masters. The pastor has said more than a few times while we have been visiting. The shekinah glory . It’s not in the Bible and what is this meaning and should it be used? I read … The word shekinah is a Hebrew name meaning “dwelling” or “one who dwells.” Shekinah Glory means “He caused to dwell,” referring to the divine presence of God. Thank you Sincerely, Kathleen

"Shekinah" is an extra-biblical term just as "Trinity" is an extra-biblical term. It is a word used to describe something that is not explicitly named but is clearly present in the Bible. It refers to the unveiled presence of God that causes ordinary humans to fall to their faces in fear and awe. It is shown in Exodus in the passage Steve Lawson described, as well as Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, the Gospels at the Transfiguration, Acts with Paul on the Damascus Road, John in Revelation, and many others. Should we use the term "Shekinah"? I don't see why not. I think the reason it is used is because "glory" is too general a term. Jesus described Solomon as having glory, but he clearly didn't have the same glory that God demonstrates throughout the Bible. It is a very specific kind of glory that only God has, therefore a unique word (Shekinah) is used to describe it.

He teaches that the free gift of eternal life in Christ must be earned by our obedience. This runs counter to God's word that we can't earn salvation, and that is why God gives is justification freely through Christ's blood atonement.

Who are you implying teaches salvation is granted by works?

I was not thru When we are saved you can tell by the fruits we bear With salvation we will. Be obident to god You are right we cannot earn it by works But a saved the very second we accept Jesus Christ as lord and savior Our obedience to god shows our acceptance of Jesus as lord and savior Once saved always saved As Paul said confess Jesus with you mouth And believe in heart that Jesus is lord and savior you will be saved The works thru our obidence to god for him are the treasures we store in heaven God bless yo brother

Excessively repetitive and incorrect about where we get our glorified body. The final destination of the elect is not heaven, but earth. This is no new doctrine, but one neglected. However, a better sermon than average.

Isaiah 65:17-25 states that "...I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be remembered or come to mind." Indeed the believer will forever be with the Lord, not on a cloud plucking a harp as is some people's imagination of "heaven," but it is rather a real place - a remade earth without the taint of sin. So when we talk about heaven as the destination of a believer, the word "heaven" is used as an adjective, as a general description of that which is to come.
@JRRodriguez-nu7po
@JRRodriguez-nu7po 6 лет назад
Then it is a confusing semantic. There will be a new heaven, but also a new Earth. While heaven is a pleasant place to visit, it is not our permanent home. The dirt calls for us to rule it, to walk on it and to feel it beneath our feet.
@lawrencestanley8989
@lawrencestanley8989 6 лет назад
I don't know if I would call it confusing, but just like anything else, context is key to understanding how a particular word is being used.
