Genuine critical thinking to snowflakes is like warm sunshine that causes them to melt and they much prefer the more delicate world where flakes are free to be flakes.
@warren lynch not necessarily. He simply disagreed with Shapiro's comments in a respectful way. Shapiro glossed over some of his views. I say this while agreeing with Shapiro for the most part. It's simply healthy disagreement.

@@IsraelCountryCube TBF he never actually called Shapiro a racist. In fact he said he believes he isn't a racist. This was simply Clickbait in the clip title. He simply asked Shapiro to justify his comments about Arabs.
Kudos to the kid for being respectful and reasonable while debating, unlike many other that we usually see. Kudos to Ben for being honest about his mistakes in the past and regretting, something that nobody from left ever does.
Respectful aside from calling someone a racist because he disagrees with his views. That behavior has become so normalized that it's not even considered disrespectful anymore. You are expected to prove that you are not a racist.
This is why there is a divide though . When you make bold claims about the entirety of a whole group, it’s extreme . “Something nobody from the left does”? Not even a leftist but you genuinely believe nobody from the left has regretted their decisions from the past? Come on man , we are better than this
The questioner is to be commended for not attacking Shapiro and breaking down emotionally. Everyone has the right to disagree without being disagreeable.
I agree, even though being called a racist is offensive if you’re not. Not stooping down to the other persons level and actually educating them is a better way to go about this especially if you have the kind of job that Ben does. Only wish there was a little less interruption on bens and the audience part.

Do the same, don't tolerate those who undermine EVERYTHING MLK, jr. taught us and those of us who FOUGHT for REAL civil rights. Modern Democrats are ONCE AGAIN the party of racism.
I LOVE watching people who REALLY think they have something get totally and unabashedly destroyed by logic and facts. They were SURE they had the smoking gun and they get wasted. It happens every time. I will never get bored of seeing it.
I wouldn't call this 'destroying'. Student brought up an article that even ben acknowledged he had revised his views and apologized for(which is very rare for ben). 19 is old enough to be able to kill someone in the military, and is probably close to the age of the questioner. Ben saying he was only 19 is not 100% exculpatory. Im not saying screw ben forever, but the kid successfully knocked him down a peg. At the very least, you can say it a wasn't one sided victory.
Breaking down what ben said: basically, the fact that some poll exists where Palestinians said something, that qualifies them to be genocided; Ben once said something that he now says he didn’t mean, and that therefore makes this kid a dumb ass for bringing it up
The kid is just a fool whose parents are paying thousands of dollars for hateful and liberals profesor to fill his mind with their hatred and ignorance.
Ben wrote a column when he was a teenager and he acknowledged it was wrong. He didn't double down on it, he stood tall and admitted he grew since that time. Way to go Ben!

wel dont know for your country. But over here prettymuch ever $ in education is wasted. I think someone like ben was going to visit a university in my country and have a speech or a debate or whatever. And then last second the university didnt want him anymore and they changed all kind of stuff because the didnt like his opinion and he was a guy that would win prettymuch every debate. And offcourse it was not good if a right wing politician or something would actually manage to convince some of the brainwashed left people there that they where wrong. So what they ended up doing is prettymuch make it so that he couldnt talk much at all and they let their left wing brainwashing people do the talking... I myself got kicked out of school prettymuch because i was kind of like Ben, i would win an argument with every teacher and the teacher would look bad. To the point where 1 of them wanted to hit me because i pissed him off so much as he couldnt win the argument because his arguments where shit. Prettymuch like this kid calling him a racist. I think it started with the clothing brand i had on. According to him the teacher it was a racist brand and because i wore it i was a racist. So i asked him what the history of the brand was. He said I DONT CARE, ITS A RACIST ANTI BLACK PEOPLE BRAND. No, its not, its actually founded by a black guy. And then he went on and on about all things around it. But he didnt have any fact ready, he just had his opinion ready. You dont win a debate with your opinion dumbass, you have to get your facts ready and be able to throw them out there. And then the class started to choose my side. Wel guess what? If you piss off a teacher and manage to get a whole class to agree with you you wil get in trouble....
It's great to hear a majority of students applauding Ben. I cant even begin to imagine the cancer that's crept into universities from extreme left professors.
That reminds me - gotta start talking to my kids about researching the professors of the classes they are slotted for. If the teacher is a left woke, time to go to registrar and scream for a different section.
Wait, socialism is so good that multiple generations of schoolchildren are forcibly brainwashed, from kindergarten to college, and it still doesn't WORK!

Taking on Ben Shapiro in front of hundreds of Shapiro fans is quite brave imo. Of course the crowd is gonna cheer for everything Shapiro says. I don’t think the lad got humiliated at all.
Kid was respectful though. Sure maybe he wasn't correct in what he wanted to say, but he was still well mannered and said what he wanted to say in a good way. Good job kid, keep up the respect, and take in the information you recieve. Edit: I know ultimately what it boils down to is the kid calling Ben a racist. The young man was making a sincere effort to be intellectually honest and have a meaningful and civil exchange. He caught Ben in a past bad take. Ben readily acknowledged it as a bad column he wrote at age 19. It would be interesting to see the whole exchange. So refreshing to see civil dialogue between people with opposing views.
I wouldn’t call cherry picking tweets ‘sincere effort.’ He also read them out of context not including the followups within the very same thread. Also, pulling up a bad take from over a decade ago when Ben himself has openly denounced it is worthless and serves no purpose.
whenever i think of things like people admitting past them was stupid so to speak I can't help but think of this silly red vs blue "should you get a tattoo" debate they did for comedy purposes. specifically a point made for the you should not get a tattoo side because it was funny and true "I can prove to you mathematically you should not get a tattoo. Take your current age. Subtract ten. Were you smart back then? No. You were ^$#^ing stupid. Are you smart now? no. It will just take 10 years for you to realize that and if you had gotten a tattoo ten years ago it's very unlikely you'd be happy with it now." this is especially true when you don have life experience which for most people I think isn't there enough to matter much until maybe early to mid 20s at the soonest. and even that depends on what they do with their life.
@@duydatyds Yeah, things have gotten that bad. I would still call this civil dialogue, as opposed to a typical leftist mob tactic of showing up in numbers and trying to shout down and shut down anyone they disagree with, using mindless slogan chants.

Notice how the folks editing this clip purposefully left in at the very end that Ben Shapiro wrote a column when he was 19 which he regrets, abhors and publicly denounces? That's because YAF is honest, Ben is honest and Ben is also a human being who has made mistakes in the past... But he isn't those mistakes, he's not the same guy who makes those mistakes, he's the guy who has learned from his mistakes. I'm really glad that YAF and Ben Shapiro have no issue whatsoever in addressing this.
Why apologize? They don't apologize for anything they do... and it seems to be working for them a whole lot better than groveling and making constant apologies has worked for the GOP.
I genuinely feel badly for him, as government schools have absolutely failed him. He was never allowed the 'luxury' of an opposing viewpoint all thos years, and just told What to think. Then they sent him out in front of a bulldozer like Shapiro...
When your position is based on theory and expressed as language gymnastics, you don’t have a chance. When your position is based on truth and simple logic, the correct answer is always right at your fingertips and easy to express.
That's true.. But Ben also believes that God stopped the sun in the sky so that Joshua and the Israelites could continue to slay more Caananites so I'm not sure where 'truth and simple logic' ends and make-believe begins. Seems like his view of history is a fantasy novel.
Who started the Israel and Palestine conflict? How does the country Israel suddenly emerge in middle east in 20th century? If you research that you will realise BS is bullshiting. Not openly a racist tho.
The fact that he didn't read follow-up tweets prior to bringing the issue to Ben directly and calling him a racist says a lot more about him than the fact that he didn't have an emotional breakdown. He shouldn't be praised for something as simple as being undeniably proven wrong in an argument.

Ben has every right to defend his reputation, but his audience didn't have to treat a debate like a game of sportsball. @@wanderer1955 only cause of the power dichotomy. He never lets anyone speak a full sentence. Soon as you call him out, like this kid tried to do, he disavows his own statements as though that makes it ok. Which sure, we should all be allowed to grow but if you said it then you said it. And it’s not a debate if you interrupt the other speaker every other syllable. His tactics are to obliterate his opponent’s confidence, not their arguments. That’s ‘definitionally’ a bully.
