Free camping (where we can) and camping in showgrounds are all we do when travelling. In 3 years, we have never camped at a caravan park. We travel with dogs, and you have so much room in the showgrounds. Some have power and water available. It is the best!
Hi Arty & Alison, thank you for another common sense down to earth episode. We will definitely be seeking out and staying at Showgrounds when we start travelling in a few weeks time for all the reasons you mentioned. We will be very keen to do this in the regional and rural areas especially. As always, safe travels.👍
It's not only showgrounds to look out for, but local rec grounds in little towns, usually around the local oval. Also run by volunteers and also right in the centre of towns and usually a darn sight cheaper than caravan parks, plus the bonus of extra room :)
When in western NSW, near Dubbo, head to Eumungerie where there’s a small village with a great sports field camping ground with basic facilities that is rarely home to more than 3 or 4 vans. Have a look!
Just wanted to ask you a question, not related to this episode. According to the dealer, they said you don't need a dust reduction fan because both exhaust fans turned on, closed hatch is enough to pressurise the cabin. I have a src19. What's your opinion about this? Thanks
I suppose in theory that should work, I have heard the Snowys are pretty well sealed compared to others and we must remember the dust reduction doesn’t really become effective until over 60kph so considering when you hit corrugated roads I’m sure we won’t be doing anything over. Ours has done the job out back of Bourke and broken hill on dirt smooth roads
@@donnakelly6581 I’ve read other comments on Facebook regarding this question and they have said they turn their sirco fans on to assist with pressuring their van
