In this video, I meet up with @CJWELLSMORE who happened to be in town and we explore some skate spots on the Upper West Side and then check out the skatepark before cruising the streets of New York City.
CJ is one of the greatest skaters of all time and is still skating and competing at the highest of levels. He's a 3 X world champion and sponsored skater for @sebaskates. The frames that CJ and I were wearing in the bigger wheel portion are both Endless frames.

CJ’s relaxed footwork is something else, he makes it look like he’s ice skating. I never was able to feel as comfortable on concrete as I was on ice so I eventually quit skating.

Being a cyclist who enjoys just cruising around, trying roller blades seems like a great idea to switch things up. I just hope it's as easy as you make it look.

It isn't too hard to get decently skilled, but, like in Breaking Bad, going from 97% to 99% is a gap to rival the Grand Canyon. This guy is the Walter White of inline skating. I used to take jumps as a teen because I also jumped when skiing, so it came naturally. But this guy is light years beyond anything I could do. This was 500 years ago in the 1990s.

It's scary to get into when you first start because you feel like you'll fall at any moment (and you will - wear all the gear and it won't hurt) but once you get used to it it's the easiest thing in the world. But like someone else said, the kind of park skating these guys are doing (and especially CJ) is extremely advanced and takes years of practice.

I'm 50 and just starting out again after being a hard core roller skater in the 80s. Yes Mr Stutter, it's all your fault, making this look so damn fun and cool. the helmet and backpack are key to the fall risk reduction. He must know those streets and static obstacles very well but you’re right all it takes is a pebble or broken glass etc. Wet surfaces are different story.

Wow Ari! This is your best video by far and had a nice mix of skate disciplines. You & CJ bridging hemispheres is the best spirit of blading. Just add slalom and/or mushroom blading next time for the trifecta of styles. Keep it up! 🤟

Liked, loved, shared. Can’t get enough of this content. It needs to go out on merch. Time to blow skating up. The sponsorships from the companies themselves aren’t enough because they can’t market the way the merch community can. That’s why boarding is big. The clothing companies. Look at Harley-Davidson. They sell more money worth of tshirts, coffee cups, trash cans, key chains, jackets, boots etc. than they do in bikes. Pick statements you guys made in this video and print em. Set up more of your friends at the park. You did AMAZING for not doing that all the time and I know you had fun. Share it with more people. People need to go to the skate park more regularly. I need to get some aggressive skates in a few months but just keep progressing my skills rn.

That elevator may be nostalgic to everyone but for me those types of elevators are the stuff of nightmares. When I was a kid visiting my brother in the hospital, the way they signal an elevator is not working is they pin this crumpled tissues in between the doors; the more the merrier. In my mind as a kid, a person is trapped in there and horribly crushed by the doors somehow.

Mad skills. As a skater, biker, and car driver, I would really like to see youtubers with a strong following lead by example and wear lights at night, and a helmet. Cars don't want to hit you, but they don't see you as well as you see them from behind their windshields. I have seen a cyclist get killed due to bad lighting. Stay safe.
