Trying out a new game called Railgrade! It's a train based puzzle game where you have to setup and engineer a train system to be as efficient as possible! Today we continue a let's play going through some more of the campaign missions and doing a little review of the game.

The idea with Stretched Thin is that you need to use your new oil power generation to get the city population up, I think, since the second tier of growth takes energy. Then I think Goods are the third tier's, too, so that's possible. Where it gets interesting is that the tier above the current growth for a city is a catalyst for the next tier, so delivering it early is very, very viable - provided you can keep up with demand of the actual required items.

I really like trains and to see a game with them is really fun. You should also play The Wandering Village. The RCE plays it but he doesn' t know what perfection is.

Since you enjoy logistics in Satisfactory you should try transport fever 2

I played the first mission 6 times before I got everything right. I played and beat mission 4 before I quit the game entirely once I realized how little the train mechanics add to the game. The optimal way to play is to have trains on their own separate tracks; any attempt to organize them on the same tracks doesn't work as well.

I also first thought only one train per track was viable but a couple missions beyond where you stopped, you’re given Alternating Switches that’s basically like a chain signal. The tutorial level that follows demonstrates massive throughput increase with many trains on one looping track and each industry having 3+ parallel stations.

@@Liwet. Totally fair. I gave up on getting "S" rating. After C, the time limit is basically unlimited. Check out Sweet Transit and Rail Route as stronger train logistic alternatives. Railgrade has its place, but yeah, I don't think I enjoy it as much as those other similar games.

Could you mix train engines to get better overall output? Like one Workhorse for mountain climbing and on Boiler for speed.

@@denbaker7358 Well, that answers the first half of the question. I knew you can mix them. But do you get a performance benefit by having both types on the train?

@@korishan yes you can get the benefits of both locomotives but if you put a boiler loco on a train with the spark engine you can actually make the train slower but you do get a hill climb benefit out of it its all trial and error but that's part of the fun for me

Couldn't you put multiple resources on 1 single train? Wouldn't that save on costs?

It would save on costs, yes. That's why we do it in the real world. The reason it wouldn't be very viable in the game is because the game is based on a time limit. And having 1 train stop at 4 stations is much slower than 2 trains stopping at 2 stations each.

I really like the aesthetic of the game. The slightly futuristic industrial style In general I really like futuristic games that aren't directly about battles and wars and such. It lets you see more about the everyday life rather than just spaceships and battle robots and whatnot Though sadly I'm not much into puzzle games like that
