@@princessloraine252 competent man, great father, no 16 million concubines, genuinely loves the emperess and his chosen wife. Wants the best for his kids. Enforces real discipline. Fantastic man all around, this is the best emperor I've ever seen in a drama.
After all the eunuch told her about the General punishing those who messed with her, her concern is that the door isn't soundproof? Insulting or criticizing the Emperor is punishable by death and she just rolls with it. I love it when she chooses to have no filter and her brain is like a trap. Even though she's not highly educated, her arguments for right and justice, mercy and fairness are sound. That she instantaneously becomes the General's *defense attorney* is so comical: when trying to convince the Emperor it is her fault for fighting with her fiancé doesn't have the desired effect, she's all too eager to be exiled with him to the countryside where she's happiest anyway. She makes it sound like it is a worthy punishment but her face can't hide the fact that that would be heaven for her. Then she tells the prince he confused not knowing right from wrong and she's now not arguing with the general or the Emperor, she's got the prince are twisted up in knots where he's not shutting her down, he's correctly her grammar and in so doing he calls himself an imbecile. I laughed so hard at this beginning scene. She is such a trip!
Even if it is indirectly suggested that the beatings are bearable, the Male Lead's expression makes it difficult to believe he feels no pain. Feel like screaming the way female lead does. Zhao Lusi gives her to this role.
Every time I watch the show I forget myself and start passing comments. Sooner or later I fear I would be commenting excitedly on every scene repeatedly.😢
