That rack of same-weight metals that they were fondling and talking about their oxidation petina's ... probably the reason the bottoms (inside the block) are more oxidized than the tops is because people actually touch/ grab the tops of the rods more often (wearing off the oxidations with the friction from their grasp) but the bottoms are rarely touched / rubbed / weathered so they retain their oxidation / petinas

14:30 The density rod holder looks like it is made of oak. Red oak has an acid that accelerates oxidation. When stacking boards, if a millwright were to stack one oak board across a layer of maple, the maple would get a dark stain from the oak oxidising the wood. @@joetheblind1 Like the other guy said it oxidizes in exactly the same way but just slower. Like the name implies it's because oxygen burns it, the acid in the oak just accelerates this process. While oxygen is necessary for our lives, it's vile because it also degrades everything it touches.

Karthikeyan Iyer no it isnt because you are spending much more time without blinking so just a rabdom guess but if you use 16 minutes blinking everyday you just - 16 from 1424 (the time you spend not blinking) and use that instead (this is though without taking in account the amount of time your eyes are closed when sleeping) ;)
