I wanted to show off the full mountain range, I hope you like it.
You can really see all the climbers lining up on some of these tops. Most of them are camping down at the lake so they have a full day for climbing.
I intended to do a more chill sound but this thing popped up and I couldn't resist.
Sorry about the thumbnail. apparently this is how they should look ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The start is to try and please the 30 second retention on viewers that youtube likes.

@@MountainSurfer have you hiked up there and flown down the mountain?
@MountainSurfer
@MountainSurfer 3 года назад
@@insanethr It's a 5 hours hike from the road to the water. I hiked up there with the gear. I didn't need to go up for this. I might do another trip there for something special. But for this kind of flying it is better to have the angle or you would have to hang out of the cliff to get close.

Excellent 🤩🏆🤩! This phantastic flight and location blows me away. Very well done 👍!! I just did the maiden flight with my Chimera 5. A great quad ! Do you have some reasons, why to do any upgrade in the future to the Chimera 7 ? What makes the „7“ so valuable to spend another 650 $ (for the HD version) compared to the „5“ ?
@MountainSurfer
@MountainSurfer 2 года назад
Thank you :) Yea I love the Chimera5 The 7" is a huge quad, larger frame, motors, props, esc's. It can carry larger batteries meaning longer flight time. More power, more speed, steadier flights, steadier footage. With a 5Ah 6S I can hold 120km/h for 8 minutes while carrying a full-size gopro 10. Easily fly around the DJI FPV max range of 13.3km. And it is a lot of fun. But it is not for everyone, this thing is about 1.5kg, and the batteries can cost 150$ each. You need a large area to fly these things. Take a look at this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2KvYGGL9g-8.html it really shows how much ground they cover fast. If you need to hike to your spot then you need to carry all that weight all the way. And if your limited because of flight rules then this is not the way.

@@MountainSurfer Wow 🤩. Another great video 👌👏👏. You got another subscriber 😁😉. I checked some of your comments and I find they are very helpful for planning and doing long range flights 👍. Coming from analog, I‘m a big fan of crossfire. 4 of my 6 analog quads have crossfire. I‘ve now 2 digital quads with CADDX Vista Unit and the DJI remote. My goggles carry TrueRC X-air antennas. I think, long range should be possible with this equipment and the Chimera 5 … hopefully 😅. Did you ever have a failsave or did you need GPS rescue due to failsave or the loss of orientation ? And : always 1200 mW or sometimes 700 mW to avoid overheating issues ? So many things to take care … 😮‍💨😆
@MountainSurfer
@MountainSurfer 2 года назад
@@themoggidriver Thank you, TrueRC X-air are good. You should be fine. I have only had successful failsafe's while testing. Since I use crossfire the remote signal will always be better then the video, mine will increase to 2W if its dicey. And I usually just throttle up or follow thru if I know it will be better. But I have lost 2 quads. 1 that for some reason just vanished and 1 where I had disconnected the GPS and I lost orientation. It's like you say loss of orientation that is a huge danger in this, and that arrow helps a lot to pin down where your home is. I don't trust the DJI remote for signalling for long range, first the antenna is lower then the video so you can be in a situation where you have video but still failsafe. Something I experienced with the DJI FPV Quad. I live in Norway there is no overheating here 😅 It's mostly on the bench your going to overheat the air unit. Bardwell had a video where he even removed the aluminium plate of those vista things. But if you use some li-ion's 4s 3Ah on that Chimera 5 then you can cruze for 15-20 minutes, you easily do 6km with that.

@@MountainSurfer ups 😬… 2 quads lost … I feel with you 😪✊. I have similar experience … I did some flying, some flips & rolls and followed a pipeline, which was just under work. I was quite sure that I was on the way home but the analog video signal became worse and worse. So I turned, followed the pipeline and with all the rest in the battery I reached the place of liftoff. I was so happy to hear the sound of the props. It was my analog Chimera 4 with 3000 mAh 4S Li-ion and crossfire, GPS not working because of the lack of satellites when I started. I do strongly hope, that the Mbps will indicate when connection becomes critical 🙏. I just start now with digital and I fear that the day will come when I saw one of my quads at liftoff for the last time. But : no risk - no fun - and no phantastic videos 🤩🤗

@@themoggidriver You clearly notice it with choppy video when it gets bad, and if the mbps gets low you notice it clearly with the lack of detail, it gets pixelated. The choppy video is usually my que to throttle up or do something to get better line of sight. But yea, no risk no reward :)

nice video dude! love it, very nice flying as well! what is max range, battery time and speed for Chimera7?
@MountainSurfer
@MountainSurfer 3 года назад
Thanks. I think the DJI FPV will do some 10-13 km with the right antenna setup. And the crossfire will go longer. Battery time is subjective, I can drain a 8Ah battery in under 5 minutes and I can fly for 15 minutes with a 3Ah. My flights usually ends after 8-12 minutes on all my 3,4,5,6,8Ah batteries but I can stretch it on the 8Ah. If the mission is to fly 10 km then I cant push for higher speeds, in my flights running out of battery is a costly affair. The drain is some 60-80A at 120km/h its what I usually cruse at. The largest battery I have is a 8Ah 6s2p li-ion so doing the math that will be 6 minutes. But It can hover for 30... This video was with the chimera5 with a 3Ah 4s li-ion it's a lot slower and flies for 20 minutes if your careful.
