Wish it had subtitles. I would like to watch this movie again. I saw it as a child, somewhere around 1975-76, at the old fashioned cinema. With subtitles, as I don't understand any language from India. I loved the movie. Very educational, too.

Watched this movies last night (this was my 2nd Raj Kapoor film which I've watched, the first being Mera Naam Joker). Shree 420 despite being released in 1955, the dialogues and situations in the movie are still relevant after almost 70 years. A movie which has sureshot aged well with time. The movie depicts life of Indians just after almost 7-8 years of independence from the Britishers but it's relevant even today.

What a fantastic movie! Compelling viewing from start to finish. Raj Kapoor & Nargis are rightly lauded for their outstanding performances but so should the beautiful Nadira as the selfish socialite, Maya, and Lalita Pawar as the mother figure. A film that highlights the divide between the spoilt high-society rich and the dignified poor. Superb songs, superb lyrics & superb music by Shankar-Jaikishan. They don't make films like this anymore. Or maybe they can't. Sadly. At least, we can go back and watch classics such as this masterpiece.

Those were the best days in Bollywood i wish i was born 70 years back and didn't see this shitty era where nudity and all kind of bad things are in trend. Love you Raj Kapoor and Nargis ji. What a film what superb characters... Can't get tired watching this million times.

Classic bollywood movie. Rajkapoor presented true picture of a common man .None can surpass Nargis. Music and lyrics always stored in your passive memory and emerge suddenly on your lips . Every dialogue and gesture of Kapoor Saheb makes lasting impression on your mind. A person of artistic nature can't resist to appreciate such a beautiful creation.
