Puss in Boots when singing the La Vida Loca, when he was in the chair spraying water on himself was a direct reference to one of the dancing scenes in the movie Flashdance (1983) with Jennifer Beals.
Credit where it's due, the FFA knights might have been against Shrek, but damn, were they good at their jobs. The fact that they were able to beat Mongo, even if Mongo was able to get Shrek into the castle is proof that they were at least a few cuts above your average soldier. Not to mention how they came to the solution to defeat Mongo. Either they were brilliant enough to come up with that on the spot, they were aware of what the Muffin Man could do, and had a counter ready in case he went nuts, or the MM had ALREADY gone nuts bedore and they were prepared for a repeat incident. Whatever the case, hats off to them!
Seeing Donkey as a horse really reminded me of the horse in Tangled. That is another animated movie with some great snarky humor. And if you haven't gotten to them yet, the Mission Impossible movies are really good.
Very cool. I live in Palo Alto, California. The donkey who was the model for "Donkey" in the Shrek movies lives in a park in our town. His name is "Perry." Once you meet him, you'd immediately know that he's the right donkey. He looks identical to Donkey and is very friendly (and loves hanging out with people).
When donkey said "I'm coming, Elizabeth," prior to fainting, he was making reference to a familiar running gag from the 1970s sitcom Sanford and Son. Fred Sanford, the owner of a salvage yard, was in his 60s or 70s, and would sometimes fake a heart attack, look upwards and say the phrase to his deceased wife.
I think I've heard that Dragon became a unicorn after Donkey drank the potion. She was originally the one who was going to rescue Shrek and Donkey but they decided not to.
I couldn't tell if you got the reference, but the "white Bronco" is from O.J. Simpson's famous police chase. I know you said "Cops", but it was more specific than that. 🤣
I'm surprised Fiona's parents weren't asking why they weren't invited to the wedding. In case you didn't get the reference in the dinner scene, that scene was a parody of the dinner scene from THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.
Hi Miss Verowak, that quote would be from Yoda in "Return of the Jedi".🙂I think the running in the fields scene may be a call back to "The Sound of Music" (1965). That was a nice mashup between fairytale and modern day scenes combined. Great reactions to this very enjoyable second Shrek film, Miss Verowak!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽The Shrek films are all well made and enjoyable!🙂
I love that crack on Donkey by Puss. Shrek: How do ya feel? Donkey: I don't...feel any different. I look any different? Puss: You still look like an ass to me. 😁😂🤣☠️ The quote of the day is from Yoda in Return Of The Jedi
@@VerowakReacts I was going to put The Empire Strikes Back, until I remembered that that's one of the last things Yoda said before he died, and he died in Return Of The Jedi
21:22 I'm kinda late to the party but this is a reference to the O.J. Simpson car chase from the mid 90s. The suspect was driving a white Bronco and filmed by police from above by helicopter; pretty much like here in the movie. Edit: 31:11 So I guess I shouldnt have commented before finishing the whole video first, oops!
19 years later and it's still as great as it was than if a bit better when it came out in 2004. Verowak you are absolutely beautiful and always do great at reactions. Quote trivia was also Yoda
The "We need a Hero" song gets me in every movie. It's used better in only one other movie, but I can't recommend the movie. It will ruin the surprise.
You'd be surprised, it's used in a lot of movies and trailers, including one of my favorite movies that came out in 1988. Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For A Hero" is a very popular and overused song in media. SPOILER MOVIE BELOW: SHORT CIRCUIT 2 (1988)
OMG I completely missed the end credit scene!! I usually always check movies to see if they have them, but the one time I don't, there is one! Those Donkey-Dragons are adorable!!
@@VerowakReacts Michael Myers is on Another Level in this, I mean I guess, If you must... but Austin Powers is Wayyyy more Entertaining... Comedy Gold... Seriously. All Three!!!
27:24 in the first draft of the script it was said that she became a Pegasus and that the dronkeys could only be born because of that. I am from Germany.
Is The Dark Half your favorite King novel? I have a collection of his first drafts; Needful Things and The Stand are my favorites :) The thong scene is a great one!
I haven't read many King novels, but The Dark Half is one of them. I started the Dark Tower when I was younger but couldn't find the rest of the books, so it's a series I want to get back to at some point
Is that Joda from the fifth star wars movie? He says something about "when old as me you are, not as good you look I think" So I think he also said that one you told us. Donkey as a horse? He is a noble steed!
To break into a castle that is protected so well, in order to get to a woman who is not thrilled about the man being pushed upon her, I think it could have been better with a plan that some might find...inconceivable. If only they had made a movie reference like that. The movie needs some good movie references. Oh, wait... tons of references, but just not that one. But some Inigo Montoya would have been nice.
Its simply unbelievable that the bird was able to account for every potion, but one, didn't they pretty much destroy the whole factory with that spill?
Shrek 2 basically took the success of the first movie and literally made the franchise shine even better than ever. Is Shrek your favorite franchise? I know it's definitely one of my favorites
@@VerowakReacts I’m glad you’re enjoying the franchise so far :)). Shrek 1 and 2 are the best of the franchise with 4 coming very close and 3 being very decent. I consider Shrek and Toy Story to be on the same tier in terms of very entertaining computer animated movies. I still rewatch them every now and then for nostalgia hahaha.
Why does Disney keep booting its talent out? This began in the Twenties when Walt's animators were hired out from underneath him the time he lost Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Good help is hard to find, and more difficult to hold onto.
The Incredibles is... incredible. Shame on me. My favorite “animated” film is Kubo and the Two Strings. It is stop-motion (not computer) animated and looks fantastic!
@@VerowakReacts the main things that I've known Julie Andrews from over the years are "Mary Poppins", "The Sound of Music" and "The Princess Diaries" with Anne Hathaway. If you haven't seen it yet, Mary Poppins is a Disney Classic.
@@VerowakReacts oh, she does so much more than just fly with an umbrella. lol I enjoyed growing up watching Mary Poppins. I don't want to say anything about the movie in case you decide to watch it. I will say this though only because this is separate from the movie. Dick Van Dyke is also in the movie and one day, when they were filming, he was in costume playing the part of an old man when they took their lunch break. He decided to walk a couple of blocks to a cafe for lunch. On his walk, he crossed the street at the corner in front of a tour buss full of tourists so he decided to play the part that he was dressed for and he started hobbling with his cane trying to cross the street. Once he got across and the light changed and the bus started going he picked up his cane and started sprinting down the street. He said the looks on those tourist's faces were priceless. He got a good laugh out of it.
If you rewatch this movie you’ll see a lilly pad motif in the kings attire and bedroom. Also the Fairy Godmothers version of “I need a hero” is the only version better than the original.
Holding out for a Hero sung by Jennifer Saunders herself imo is as better, if not even a bit better than Bonnie Tyler’s. This movie will always be remembered by that amazing scene and how much of a good sequel it is!
@@VerowakReacts The M:I movies are outstanding! The first three are great, but starting with the fourth, they take things to an all new level! Can’t wait to see Dead Reckoning. I hope my broken leg is healed by then.
@@VerowakReacts Yes, the M:I movies do get better. M:I 2 is a bit of a downturn. Still good, just weird. But M:I III takes it up a notch, then M:I 4-8 are amazing. Tom Cruise found a great director who just knew what he was doing with the series and made it amazing. As for my leg, I am well on the way to recovery. I should be able to put 100% body weight on it by next week, so I'm hoping I can drive by July.
Did you watch puss in boots...You gotta watched it... It's my childhood dreamworks or Disney pixar movies? 😓🥹I watched puss in boots when i was 6 or 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 11 or 12 or something like that...i forgot my age of when i watch that...., And Now I'm Big Now I Am Now 17😶🥲
Godmother 9:56 was right, saying "Gender-Confused". 20 years ago it was fine to say, but not today in this crazy world, where anyone can change their gender. Sick
