I don't care what anyone else thinks about this. The actors obviously put a lot of hard work into this production, and the sets were very cute. ^.^ A big thumbs up to this production, and especially to the actor who played Shrek! :D

This was a great, fun musical and I can definitely tell the actors really had their hearts in it, and that's what theater is. In a way community theater productions can be more fun than Broadway productions :) Great job to everybody!

also, don't listen to the people making hurtful comments. This is not Broadway, and they shouldn't be expecting Broadway. It was a community theater production, and a damn good one too.

Marc Christopher that's what theater is supposed to be :) my community theater just did Diamond in the Rough (i didn't do it) and this production was light years ahead of that. And the music from this is really catchy!

The set was some cardboard but mostly made of flats. The concept was coloring book pages with "children's scribbles". Thank you for the nice comments. For community theatre, this show was amazing!!!

It's actually not that bad for a community theater. We are expecting to do this show (I'll audition for Fiona :D ) this summer and our show will likely look like this. You guys have wonderful voices and your orchestra sounds amazing for everyone to be volunteer. And your prosthetics for the Ogre's doesn't look like crap, so thats a huge plus. Haha! I'd say if you had a bigger budget, it would look professional with your cast.

No one said this was broadway lol...All volunteers at a community theatre. It was meant to be done for fun...not for pay....i promise if this was paid show with a heavy budget you'd be watching a different show. All I know is we had a great time doing this show.

I have somewhat mixed feelings on this musical. The jokes were hit or miss, but the songs were decent (With some exceptions. I mean there's a song with Shrek and Fiona farting, that is just melts my brain thinking about how horribly stupid that was) but it did have a lot of cute moments here and there, so yeah, I have a love-hate relationship with it.

The concept of the set was "Coloring Book" So Cardboard was the perfect material to create that 2 dimensional set. :D

The theatre company that I am a part of is performing Shrek the Musical at the beginning of next month, so it is cool that this is available for me watch and learn from!! Thank you for sharing all of your talent and hard work :o) your sets and characters were so unique,impressive, and creative, I loved it! It's always fun "comparing" shows, and seeing how different directors/performers tweak things to make it their own, and of course, seeing all the similarities. So much talent from the whole cast, really well casted, wish I could individually comment on everyone. Congrats on a fun and successful production!

Wow, I really don't understand why people make such nasty and rude comments about videos such as this. To me this was a thoughtfully produced and well rehearsed community theatre production. Might I have made different choices in spots? Perhaps. Were there some "weak links"? Yes. There were also a LOT of very creative and inexpensive scenic and costume designs that were incredibly effective. I especially loved the puppet idea for the dragon. Might be stealing that! :) Had I paid $20 to see this at a local community theatre I would have gone away feeling entertained and very proud of my local company.

Its such a fun show! I had a blast playing Shrek! Your brother will have a great experience put this show together. Our cast still keeps in contact. Its like a family. We miss it. Plus Donkey is probably the character that can have the most fun. I wish your brother many broken legs and great performances! :D

A lot of the pieces are too slow! And the pit is way too small for this show. I conducted this show for a High School, and our pit had 15 musicians, plus myself (conductor). If I had the rate this I would give it 1 star out of 5.

I agree completely, as a musical director and pit musician too (Keys and woodwind) I think the pit was too small. If budget was the problem and your pit were being paid (I hope they were) then you should have prioritised instruments. All you can hear throughout is the trombone and when that provides the harmony to the trumpet part it sounds odd without the trumpet etc. just something to think about for next time

I loved this version of Shrek the Musical! My only complaint is Donkey. He wasn't really that funny and his voice was a little too deep for Donkey. But besides that, it was an amazing production. I'd give it an A-.

Actually the tour version is different from the broadway version... The version we did had the dragon singing "Forever" and the lyrics of "Build a Wall" were different.

I wanted to apologize, a good friend of mine who think he is the world's only critic that matters was on my laptop and commented on your play, he did so without logging out of my youtube account and logging into his. I'm guessing you all didn't have a huge budget to work with and with what you had i think it was quit good myself. Remember the original play and tour had a budget in the millions. Not bad.

A valiant effort, but some really odd choices. Where are Shrek and Fiona for the opening sequence, they should be onstage not just voice over. Why cut the Knights from the Dragon sequence? Why have a puppet with moving mouth and then rarely use the moving mouth? Why do a show with a large expensive dragon puppet when you know you can't pull it off? And no directorial choice on how they escape the dragon other than just eventually walking away from it. Not a terrible show, some good singing, but directing choices and a lack of lighting choices make it very stagnate.

Saying that you are a community theatre with a limited budget is no excuse. I work at a community theatre that makes better sets than this and we are doing just fine. We also have a seriously limited budget because we put on about 10 shows a season!. We make everything at the theatre with only 4 production staff: a lighting/scenic designer, a technical director, a costume designer, and an assistant costume designer. Most of the work is done by volunteers and yes we do have some stock platforms and flats but most of the things you see in a show are built by hand. If you don't believe me google "raleigh little theatre" and click on archives then photos. I'm not trying to insult you or anything I just feel that too many community theatres use the "limited budget excuse" for putting on a bad show. There are SOOO many other community theatres that have limited budgets and they put on great shows! It just bothers me that some theatres just complain about having a small budget while others suck it up and use it to their advantage.
