Saw this in Atlanta and was so disappointed. The creepy puppets for the young Fionas and young Shrek and the creepier ventriloquist heads for Shrek's parents were just a start. Costumes and set designs were subpar. I wouldn't waste your money on this version.
Unfortunately not, it’s an official professional non-union tour. This is the second variation of this tour, the first half looked a lot worse. I recommend a RU-vid video by Sully about all the details.
No they decided that it was mean to make fun of conditions that people can’t control so they decided not to make him short anymore because it’s mean spirited. They replaced those jokes with jokes about him wearing pumps, so they’re still making fun of being short, makes no sense.
@@jonathanspray2362 The character is short. That's the joke. His dad was a dwarf, literally. Having him portrayed as a regular sized dude, even a short one, isn't the way you address any concerns over it. They could've hired a little person if they didn't want to go the knees route, but also, the actor singing and dancing on his knees almost the entire show is a huge part of what makes Shrek the Musical so great.
Glad you changed the costumes so it's not so high school. Oh wait. And Farquaad being short is half his schtick. Also what's with the changing of the line at the end of Freak Flag?
