A look at Shrewsbury railway station on Saturday 23rd November 2019.
Shrewsbury station is a key junction station and at the time of visiting, still retains semaphore signalling which can be seen in this video. Transport for Wales are the core provider of services with routes running between Cardiff, Swansea, Carmarthen, Holyhead and Manchester Piccadilly and also between Birmingham International, Birmingham New Street, Aberystwyth and Pwllheli, Chester and Holyhead as well as a stopping service to Crewe and to Swansea via the mid Wales line. Virgin Trains also operate a service between here and London Euston. West Midlands Trains operate a stopping service between here, Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street.
During this video, two steam charters are featured. Firstly, LMS 5MT 44871 is seen terminating with the outward working of 'The Ludlow Medieval Christmas Fair' from Slough before departing for Crewe. Then LNER A1 60163 'Tornado' is seen terminating with 'The Marches & Severn Express' from Eastleigh.
