The shepherd community festival celebrated in Pattan kodoli in Kolhapur.
People gather around here walking from a long distances and play with Bandara.
Large colorfully decorated cloth umbrellas and drums are the main highlights.
Ferande Baba walks from a nearby village which takes him around 10 days to reach Pattan kodoli.
He's there as a messenger of God predicting the future of the people.
The main highlight is Baba gets into trance and dance like he's possessed by God holding the sword. People shouting and throwing Bandara & drums around, the craziest vibe I've felt in recent times.
It is usually celebrated from November 1st to November 4th. But the 1st is important and that's when you can see the God's possession.
This Yatra is also referred as The Yellow Festival because of the BANDARA they play with.
But I got to know that it's an unofficial name given by the outsiders. But the local people prefer it to be called as Vittal Birdev Yatra.
