In the Northern city of Turin stands the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist. Within this cathedral is a small chapel once associated with the House of Savoy, and which contains the famous Shroud of Turin. Believed to be the burial cloth of Christ following His Crucifixion, the Holy Shroud is seldom displayed to the public, but is visited nonetheless by thousands of pilgrims each year.
