I’m not sure why anyone hates this guy, he’s literally expressing his honest opinion on the products HE buys. If you can’t handle the truth then why are you here?
So many people in the comments are hating. Like, it doesn't matter if this stuff is good or not. He payed for it and wanted to give us a review. So let him. If you dont like his videos dont watch. Don't subscribe. Dont like. Whatever just leave him alone.
I love that you can hear the clicking of his dogs nails walking on the hard wood in the background.. He's a dog guy, that says a lot about a guy.. His opinion means so much more to me now.. haha
DocP91B, I love you dude. 100% my favorite RU-vidr right here. One of the only no bullshit youtubers left. There are so many people who have gotten so caught up in fame, money, and overall just themselves. I do not know you on a personal level. But i know you deserve way more then 25,000 subs.
I agree. I love this channel because he's not sponsored, or trying to sell certain products for companies. When he reviews stuff it's just his opinion and nothing else. Gotta respect that.
This was one of my favorite boxes, I wanted one of those solar power chargers and some of the stuff I wanted that came on the box. I camp and backpack a lot so it was pretty good IMO
Brandon Defend I’m guessing they throw in cheap shit to balance out their budget and quantity for the better stuff like the sleeping bag and blankets and knives.
I really do like MREs. They're not any worse than the stuff you get to stick in the microwave at home. I wouldn't want to eat them all the time, but I don't mind them at all.
I just can't help but have no interest in karambits. Outside of a fighting knife, I just dont see it as a practical blade and how many folks spend a good amount of their time throwing down in an impromptu West Side Story style knife fight? And definitely cannot use as an EDC blade. Looks cool on a rack or a display, but what else can you do with it? As a gift, I'd say it was cool, but wouldnt spend my money on one.
Hey Doc. Another great vid. Also,(and I say this knowing that I risk being the complainy guy) I really like your videos, so know when I comment it is only suggestions that I make because I want them to be better.... I might also be wrong so do what you will with my advice. You have been filming from closer and closer in during your unboxing vids for a while now. It used to be that we could actually see your, "like it," and, "don't like it," piles. This video was so close that the knife was longer than our perspective viewpoint could see. Maybe back it up a bit. Do you need a tripod? I have a spare one you could use if you need one.
+Thugorp I thought the same thing when I watched this one. Legit speaking, this box was so big it took up a big part of the frame. I ended up with some weird blocking for the rest of the items, and the problem is compounded by the fact that it's filmed with the box on a table. Back in FL I used to film on the ground such allowes for a lot more clearance with the tripod. The solution is simple - I should just film on the floor indoors like I do outdoors and then the distance from the camera won't be any problem. Thank for getting me on the right track thinking about it!
Thanks man. Oh, also that comment was made before the vid was done playing on my end. I should add that the full box presentation at the end is a GREAT! and welcome new feature. You moved? Where's the fam. living now? Good luck in your new digs.
Probably just me because I’m way too tall, but I was impressed by the sleeping bag! Hard to find good quality And price for that length! Keep up the great work Doc!
Like the Con Tigo! Solar Chargers are good. The lighter is always good. Wool blankets are always good. Nice note pad. Throw the utensils on the pile. I hate the rubber handle on the knife, it gets gooey after awhile. You can always get a better radio at Walmart. Socks are good for a number of things. I use the sleeping bag as liner for my sleeping bag. Jerky’s okay. Another K knife for the pile. Schrade needs to get out of the OTF business.
Don't serrations seem a bit impractical on a karambit? Also the serrations look as though they were machined for a straight blade. Not for the durastic curve of a karambit.
You're right about that. I didn't really even address that in the video. I don't think the serrations do much at all on the shape of a karambit. In my opinion those are there for looks more than anything.
DocP91B so doc, I was looking to buy a new cheap edc, and I was curious to hear your opinions on Schrade's M.A.G.I.C. assisted opening knives. Specifically the scha7b. It looks solid to me, but not too many RU-vidrs cover this particular knife
I have never put my hands on one. But if that is a request for a video, I'll see what I can do to get working on it because it does look like a different kind of Schrade. AUS-8 is not their typical steel and I'm curious.
It always amazes me how eager people are to throw away their hard earned money on boxes of crap. Throw the words “tactical”, “combat” or “field” on any garbage equipment and people go nuts over it. Great marketing aimed at the uninformed. Save the $80+ per month up for a few months and buy quality gear.
alex nguyen I hear you. I was in the military as well here in Canada. My point is, that there are people who think this stuff is the coolest stuff ever, and they’re willing to pay a mark up on cheap gear.
+powerhouse721 Mine just got sucked into a FedEx black hole in Georgia. They didn't even know what happrned to it. It disappeared for 8 days and then just showed up again.
If you catch this comment I just wanted to say thanks for your service and I'm sorry your not still in as you speak excitedly about your time in. Great vid as always and this box was much better than usual 👍
After learning & doing many courses & buying & trying gear I have become quite knowledgable & im quite jaw droppingly amazed how much crap is out there for people with no knowledge & think there experts to buy & sell... It was a box of utter crap that black knife is literally the last knife in the shop I'd use for survival as was his opening scene folder. If you want to be more Rambo then learn the real stuff...survival isn't about how big your knife is or how bright your torch is... Learn wild edibles..then learn it again..that's food for free it's better than 100 boxes of food hidden away..& not with you anyway.. Learn tree & plant ID & uses...then tree habits & wind effects & thus navigation by natural signs...thus you are the compass.. Learn what a knife is useful for...take a small scandi grind (3 inches) & a big survival knife out...live for 4 days in the woods..you will I guarantee stop reaching for then stop even carrying the big knife...even in a fight a small knife is not noticed thus your unpredictable & thus they often don't know what you have done where as a big knife is blocked & avoided etc... That curved knife on the box literally I would drop it as soon as I found a butter knife to sharpen on a stone or any straight thin metal I could sharpen into a tool.. Learn how to make fire don't just watch it actually do it & practice & learn your tinders as different places might not have the same materials.. Equipment is a death sentence if you have too much...& that is actually very little weight...don't think adding to your pack is adding to your survival kit it's decreasing the chances you can carry or keep it with you when you need the basics... Do courses learn & don't buy crap that says super survival terror hero military on it....if it says Tactical on it you should literally leave the shop & tell the owner he should be ashamed to sell hyped up crap & not actual survival gear. Your mind needs feeding you need the knowledge not tons of crap... Get a 3in folding non locking knife & you will be allowed to carry &I use it in most countries.. Get a 4 inch fixed scandi stainless (not carbon steel) fixed blade in a sheath..pref with a hard fire steel.. Get a rechargeable head torch & a fold out 15+w solar panel...this will charge your phone & torch & any shit you have..toy ones won't do it. Get a good bivvie bag the Dutch army one I can use in heavy rain without a tarp & its breathable & bug netted.. Get a good inflatable Matt like thermarest so you can sleep with it inside your bivvie on snow & its insulating you from the ground enough but still fits in your pocket & is tough enough to last.. Get a good Marino whool blanket or down blanket (some thermorest ones you can attach to the sleep matt). don't get a sleeping bag especially down as it compresses under you so 40% of the bag is not really insulating as it can't loft up under your body but you still have the bulk to carry...an inflatable thermarest sleep matt is enough to sleep on snow.. Water you need a stainless canteen about 1 litre so you can boil in it & you need a filter or knowledge of natural filters (sawyer mini & millbank bag can be DIY connected with an old bottle top cut off & used as a funnel).. That's it a tarp & cordage is good but you can make cordage fast from nettles or lime trees or whatever..can't you...no well learn it or your not going to last long...stop buying crap...
DocP91B...I was a 19D. Got hurt on my first deployment and got forced out on a medical discharge. I loved every day I was in the Army. I really miss it. Just wanted to know what your experience was. Thanks. Scouts out.
Zippos leak very easily .A good quality jet lighter will last year's I have 2 turbo flame military lighters .I lost one in an old jacket I don't wear often. found it again over a year later and it lit up first attempt (had bought a replacement in the meantime) highly recommend them. ( www.turboflame.co.uk/index.php/products/retail-packs/gx7rmilitary.html )exact one im on about
@@micmc8145 Zippos can leak, yes, but in my experience, they're a hell of a lot more reliable than the average jet lighter. Almost every one I've owned hasn't survived its first refill. They lose pressure, or something.
I think the basic box is well worth the money, but it goes downhill from there. I hate karambits. I have the same sleeping bag I got from Wish for $17.50 including shipping. I like it. Don't like OTF knives. I do like Shrade. Like the socks too.
That’s a solid box and you missed one thing in your like it pile. Not One bottle opener. Haha. Also I’m with you on Karambits. Cool knives but the vast majority of people carrying them don’t have a fraction of the training required to me them even marginally effective with them. Personally, I carry a knife as a tool. Self defense doesn’t factor very highly in my knife buying decision process. Overall great box and great video though.
Really good video keep u the good work, ok i'm wanting to start getting a box but what company do u sagest( SHTF Mystery Gear ELITE Box or Survival box gear only)
Shit.. this was a good box.. I wished I had subscribed for this box.. 1- it has a lot of awesome shit.. and 2- I could of given that bag.. socks and blanket to a homeless person down in center city... awesome unboxing .. great video..
Great Review doc I get the basic box and was really pleased. I thought the other levels were not as good. But was pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the items you showed. I almost wish the karambit was in place of the other fixed blade in The basic. I don't have much use for one but it did look a step above in quality than the other. Can't believe they even bothered sticking the radio in there. They should have called that one 0 value. Great review and spot on thanks Doc.
You make good vids. Plenty of good info on the box contents. As for this one, the karambit is the best thing in the box. If your giving it away, I would appreciate your consideration. Keep the good vlogs coming. OG out.
HA! I actually own the Schrade Assisted opening OTF. I bought it prolly 4 years ago and I did EDC it for a couple of years (but not heavy use) I still love it, but it ended up being to flashy for any kind of EDC. As soon as you open it, the sound it makes, people turn their heads and take notice. lol. But I still have it, and use it occasionally.
This doesn’t pertain to the box but can you tell me what kind of watch your wearing? It looks pretty cool and I’d like to go check it out on the website and get a better look at it. Is that your main survival watch?
Thanks for the video! I don't understand why the Karambit style knife should EVER be in a survival/SHTF box. 1. It is strictly a fighting knife, not multi use. 2. From my research it takes a completely non instinctual form of knife fighting to use it. 3. It's ugly as hell. I would go up against anyone that has a karambit using my Kershaw Camp 10 and win.
I love the videos and was wondering if you could do a review on the shrade otf because it's the only legal otf knife in Canada and there aren't that many reviews on it.
Canadian here, Shrade OTFs are legal here as long as they they're assisted opening. The thumb trigger HAS to be connected to the blade. I ordered one and have had to issues with it so far. I have a different model though
