When we think about carrying our gear for whatever reasons and purpose we have to think carefully. One way to carry gear in a patrol situation is the British military P.L.C.E. a great piece of gear.
I was issued this webbing back in the day. We would carry our mags on the left set of pouches and grenades on the right. Extra ammo was bandoliered up on clips and would be carried in our day sack or slung. Great webbing never failed and with the short back PLCE bergan was a bit of kit.
Ordered an excellent one from Kit Monster in the UK a couple of years ago. It had been custom built to include a sewn buttpack. The waist padding (enabling you to run and march with little bouncing or abrasion) and ability to quickly size to the layers of clothing you are wearing (winter/summer) blew away the old Alice gear I was issued in the 80/90's in the US Army. The other plus is you can carry 12 mags of 30rds of 5.56 easily or 6 mags of 20rd 7.62 mags. Being sewn limits modularity but more than makes up in comfort and lumbar support.
That fold down velcro flap in the mag pouch is to cover the velcro if you want the pouch to open silently, but you lose the ability to quickly close the flap and expect it to be somewhat secure without reinserting the tab.
See I took the left right had ammo pouches and replaces it for a command pouch cut the the them in half and used it as a single because it fit a civvy water bottle perfectly and I got an old USA Vietnam water bottle pouch on the rear right because they fit the British army water battle and metal mug perfectly and looked retro
Thanks for sharing. Do you know the other way to fasten the British PLCE pouches more secure? It´s just using both ends of the closure through the U shape buckle thing (yes, it´s somewhat difficult to explain, but very easy to do when you know it)
New sub. Say eh to da up eh?! I like the 165 truncated 40 cal bullet too.. perfect defense and woods gun for our great state! Keep the vids coming. We need some new material!!
I think it's worth the money especially for a defensive scenario in a SHTF situation where you might be only a few hundred or so yards from your main place.
Dude you won't regret it. I have a few sets of webb8ng I use it for hiking mot carrying ammo mags. I m Australian I use an Alice harness, made here. I also use a molly system with Brit pouches. The similarity to plce is this. Aust Alice has extra D ring and Aust pouches have 2 D ring per minimi pouch. So you can add more points of load bearing .The Molle has a harness the same as this 6 points of Load bearing. Aside from the belt locking of pouches, the main attraction of plce is the 6 points load bearing. That makes it sooo much more comfortable. If you want a cheap way out if you have Alice. 1. Get a pad sewn up that is as wide as pouches top to bottom. 2. Sew a d ring onto your harness and onto 2 pouches just ass a strap 6 points happy days
@@loneoaksurvival Actually I might be wrong!! Sorry. I thought it came with Kidney pouches but now I think we just had extra water bottle pouches!! The 58 pattern webbing had kidney pouches. Sorry again
I’m ex an ex British infantry man and took a lot of pride into my belt kit I’d love to give you a little advice on how to set it up for you were it would work well for you if your interested I’ve still got mine from my 13years in the mil mind it is 20 odd years old now lol
Excellent info. I just bought a plce setup off of eBay. All of my pouches (8 total) are sewn into the hip pad. I wasn’t expecting that, but I don’t mind it. The belt is sewn into the hip pad as well. Mines a metal glider style of buckle. The only issue I have is that the two “A” rings closest to my kidneys dig into my back when fully loaded. If I adjust it- the weight distribution is off. Have you had any issues with the A rings digging into your back?
