I love love Love goldfish! I also love watching you with your little one, teaching her and creating such special bonds. Thank you for this share, I am bursting with good vibes! 🙏🌺
Love your goldfish videos. I’ve been into tropicals for a couple of years but in the last year have discovered my love for goldfish! It’s nice to see a channel that gives good info on the high and specific needs of goldfish!
I'm a new fish keeper. You're channel has been very informative, and helpful. I started with bettas than moved into African Cichlids. Currently sitting on a 70gal with a variety of fishes. A male and female betta, my main, a green terror, a convict, a Jack Dempsey, a yellow jacket, an oscar, a blue arcana, some cherry barbs, 2 pelcos, and giant danios. I also included a shubunkin, all of them are roughly about 2 to 3 plus inches now, excpt for the schools about 1 1/2 inch. It's been fascinating watching all of them get along and push hierarchy. I love my shubunkin. He's so flamboyant or she. He even pretends to push others around. Follow by their lead and it confuses the hell out of the cichlids. I think he helps keep the tank at balance. For my tank anyways. He dances, I see it as that. Sometimes he'll even get my green terror to join in and copy moves. As well as my Jack Dempsey. Someday I'll definitely put him with his kind but for now we're going to act like a family. Feeding time is when they are nicest to eachother. Keep up the videos.
I have 5 shubunkins in my outdoor pond (my first time keeping fish), they're so so beautiful!! They're super hardy and easy to care for! The only downside is they poop a lot, so regular water changes are a must. I don't regret having them at all, they're great!! 🤗❤
110 percent gonna be keeping Shubunkin. They’re interesting visually and their little personalities are fun. When I do a fish tank, it’s gonna be a Shubunkin.
I was looking into getting a goldfish after my friend told me they can last many years with proper care. I think my favorites that I've seen so far are the Shubunkin and red/white Wakin. They give the most koi fish look to me. I'd like a koi fish but they are a bit too expensive and large for my situation
Shabunkin goldfish are really a fantastic choice, I've got three in a 345 litre large tank. They don't really need to be kept in ponds and do well in a very large, well maintained tank. I do water change every two weeks and have pothos growing out of the top to help with water quality. Even without the plant, they'd still thrive. My scape is super simple with largish gravel and orange dragon stone in the centre. Leaves plenty of swim room for the fish.
If you do get a Moor I highly advise looking for the Shonka line to make sure it's one that will STAY black. I personally would lower a common to a 55 minimum tank. While the rare fish hits 12 inches most never pass 7 or 8.
Dude I find you very entertaining and informative which is the perfect combination for good video making. Try not to over think it and just be yourself. It works great for you!
very pretty shubunkin. I think you may have to keep an eye on things if you add fancy goldfish to the same tank - they tend to be much slower moving and could get out competed for the food. Looking forward to seeing what you get 😊
I don’t have shubunkins, but I do have wakin and common goldfish. I love the wakin for my pond because of their double tails and fancy red and white coloring! It’s a smallish pond that I regularly hand feed, so I know they get enough to eat. Goldfish are a wonderful fish!
When in temperatures consistently over 22-24 C long-term goldfish do actually become more succeptible to illnesses, because many pathogens prefer warm water. I saw this in personal experience. I think this is similar to temperate plants like many bonsai. They don't like not having winter rest.
I had African chiclid for yeeaarss stopped for 2 years and started again and just said screw it there beautiful I wanna try it and I LOVE them. Easy care and look great
Really nice Shubbie... I go on 50 gal for the first and 10 gal per inch added after...in new fish or first ones growth. Please get him a friend ...or even mountain minnows will do, all of the 'carp' family are shoaling or grouping fish x Oh and ultimately they are a pond fish in the end....got to give them a decent environment as they get bigger xx
3:00 i was feeding flake food, and this was happening. I switched to a pellet food and no more stability issues :) i got them from my brother. They're getting MASSIVE learned that he kept them with Koi so i think i might have a hybrid scenario haha but they're beautiful fish
Shubunkins are my favorite goldfish breed. Ironically, currently don’t have any, just commons, comets, orandas & fantails. You might want to look into Sarassas (my 2nd favorite goldfish), or Orandas, such as, Red Caps, Calicos, Red/Whites, Blues
I have some comet goldfish, which I will be adding a pair of shubunkins to their tank. I will have seven goldfish and two gold dojo loaches in total and they are being moved into a 125 gallon tank from a 40 breeder soon. I keep my tank at 70 degrees just to maintain consistent temperature
I live in a place where the summer its decently hot but in winter its extremely cold sometimes snowstorm and can shubunkin survive that, also i think i should put a heater made for 10 gallon tank in a 75 gal just to make fish safe from extreme conditions
This is a particularly handsome Shubunkin. I am surprised it has such a long tail peduncle. It gives it a particularly elegant profile. I hope you breed it. Is it possible for you to get it another Shubunkin mate, possibly of the opposite gender ? How about a good variety called a London Shubunkin? 😃
Hey Chris. I only have shubunkin goldfish and a calico fantail mama. I have way too many In 455 gallons of aquariums. Have all different coloring. I have no heaters in the tanks and the water is 70 degrees. I feed them a variety of foods from repashy super gold, frozen brine shrimp, tetra shubunkin pellets, xtreme pee wee. I am always looking for a good quality food for them .
What are the Dimensions of your 75 gallon tank? Looks like a good space you've got, comet heaven, am about to get a bigger tank, 75 gallon may be too large for my rack, would love to have something roomy enough for larger size fish. Also how are your old collected tank refurbs going?
hi i love this, i had a tropical tank it wasnt for me, i love goldfish, so ive had a cold water tank now for a year or so, i have shubunkins, with goldfish and blackk moors, they all get on so well but the biggest shubunkin is the daddy of the tank, well i think he is a he, how can i tell the female and males apart, and is there any chance they may have babies ?
I like gold fish, yet I would not keep them in an Aquarium unless the Aquarium is very Large. Thank you for sharing. Whether some one likes gold fish or not, I still respect that person, some people like to keep, Endler Guppies, I like them, but I have never kept them. From my understanding it is about what people prefer. Some people prefer to keep insects, I prefer to keep fish. I have kept gold fish in the past, the question is, would I keep them again some time in the future?, yes but not in an Aquarium unless it is for breeding and growing up Fry.
I love Shubukin,Black Moor & Redcap and all Gold fish and hate people using them as feeder fish..infack i liked an arrowana and decided to pick a couple but on checkin found they would eat my other fish so not blaming the Arrowana its the nature..but my tank. Is a community tank and i want the fishes to live in harmony🙏
I have a large shubunkin and I recently got another that’s about an inch and a half long and I have a tank that was given to me so I don’t know the exact amount of gallons it is but the tank gets really dirty and I am not very experienced with them could you make a video giving a lot of info about them I haven’t been able to find any informative videos particularly on shubunkins
Just spotted this video on shubunkins. I discovered this variety of goldfish last year and I am crazy about them! What's not to love about them? I am currently seeking a reputable breeder to add more to my two I have now.
I was reading up about shubunkins and I figures out that they rarely reach sizes of 12+ inches. They typically reach 4-7 inches so I say if you're keeping a lone shubunkin it would be fine to keep it in a 30/35 gallon.
Great video! Is there any way you can do a video on moving fish from one house to another? I have to move soon and it’s about three hours a way! Just wanted your input on how the best way to go about this is!! Thanks and love your channel, it has helped me so much ! Can’t wait to get my 125 gallon!!
Can u please tell me how to set up the tank like what should I do with the water, what kind, etc, because I just got two and when I put them in the water they literally died the next day. I’m pretty sure the water was way too cold for them but I’m not sure how to warm it up if they don’t need a heater.
i used to hate goldfish, now they are my best aquaponic fodder. cheap, easy to take care of, hardy, and easy enough to adjust to alkaline water so my plants can produce a fuckton of food.
my orandas and fantails goldfish easily lives in 32-33 celcius in summers, and i never keep them below 24 celcius, and they enjoy it without any diseases.
All goldfish dont need heaters, and all koi dont either, they're all carp and it's all why they're so easy I have 2 30 gallons and now a 75, gone with my 55 I dont think you should mix style goldfish tho like fancy styles with commons like common goldfish or shubunkins, but they all dont need heaters too! They all carp ^^ and I day get RANCHUS if you want something SUPER Expensive looking that has that VIBE to them
Any tips for catching tiny cichlid fry? They’re in a 75 that’s at a weird height. I’ve tried netting and using a siphon but they’re too fast. Anything helps thanks.
Hey, I need some help, so I just got an Angel fish from a store, put it in my aquarium to aclimate, I left it for about 30 mins and then came back to add some water to keep the process going, everything was going great until I came back and noticed the back had fluffed over and all the water from the bag spill in my aquarium, is this bad? What should I do next please help
Hi can u help me please? So I’m after treating my tank with para quard. And it says take out carbon but I have the marina i25 cartridges and it’s all compacted together. Can I cut the carbon out?
Been there done that moved on from goldfish. I can't respect people that show disrespect for people that just don't want to keep goldfish. I love all fish but It don't mean I will keep them all. 😑
Right! Like not every wants to keep rare fish with specific needs like feeding live food or being kept at 4ph but are we gonna trash fish keepers who don't want to do that??
I have a 2-year old 12" Shubunkin in a 45 gal tank. Tank has optimal dimensions-- 36" X 24" deep X 12", so he can move around okay. Have gravel filters that keep the water clear.
If it stays really hot and you don't have air conditioning, I'd make chillers out of empty water bottles. Freeze several, depending on tank size. Make sure you remove any labels. Just drop the frozen bottle in the tank or pond, with the caps on. As long as the water isn't much over 70° F for too long they should be fine.
Hey dude!!! Power was out so... im not first😭😭😭😂😂😂 but im getting rid of all my cichlids but the jag cuz the jags is trying to kill everything and almost ate one of my convicts
