Shunned by Our Four Kids - Joe and Fran's Story 

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Joe and Fran are a lovely couple. So sorry for the pain and grief you have endured. I just got home from consoling my mom because my sister got married today and since we are no longer Jehovah’s Witnesses, we were not invited to her wedding. My mom showed me all the loving texts she has sent my sister. They have all been unanswered. My mom was a great mom to us we never lacked love, support, or kindness. This man made organization is atrocious, it divides families and promotes shunning. The love that they promote is conditional.

Praise God that many are seeing the light and leaving this evil organization. I hope this platform will minister to many who need the courage and strength to escape. Gods Blessings to you!

I was there the first night Joe and Fran called into the six screens show. It was very exciting to hear an older couple leave the Jehovah's witness cult together. You two do an awesome job exposing the watchtower cult. Thank you Jude for offering your platform.

They are such a sweet couple. They don’t deserve this treatment. Many people don’t have parents or lost them and some just shun-how heartbreaking and cold!

When I first started listening to apostates, I felt absolute, real love for this group of people. There was such a fear and hate surrounding apostate as put out by JW org. I had, years ago, taken an interest in understanding cultures and people. Becoming one of JWs blocked that out of me. The Org has a veneer of love, care, and concern, but it is shallow.

My husband and I had a marriage like Joe and Fran. Thanks for sharing. It was soo hard to be married to my husband and the organisation. It’s a toxic 3 way relationship. Our true authentic personality was not congruent to the way they want you to be. Now that we are out we have such a beautiful marriage because we are able to leave our toxic narcissist abusive third wheel in our marriage.

Thankyou so much for the wonderful interview with the three of you. So many pimos still in and yes they are in agony and seems the only way out for them to stop going to meetings is to say they are suffering from mental distress. The sheeple think it is caused by outsideproblems the pimos are not strong enough to tell the insiders that the whole angst is caused by the org. Anyhow if they do tell them they are soft shunned. Just like what happened to me complete shunning. I am so fortunate because not one of my family went into the cult they put up with my being in it for 35 years and they all congratulated me for my strength. I am so sad pimos are stuck in because they don’t want to lose their family and have to continue living a lie. It must be horrendous. I am from queensland in australia. First of all: Love to see Joe & Fran. Second: @13:27: When you get the elders involved in your marriage everything goes south! When I was in I had a wayward wife that loved her independence. She would leave me for a month or so and live with her mom across town a couple times a year over the most trivial, petty disagreement. So the next to last time she did that, unbeknown to me she complained to the elders behind my back that I was being verbally abusive to her (a lie). She would also attend the Sunday meeting at our hall and not sit next to me. An elder invited me to a meeting at the Hall at the end of the book study. I thought I was going to be encouraged to persevere despite her waywardness... NOPE! I was accused of being verbally abusive and neglectful to my marital duties ect., ect... They also didn't like the fact that the whole congregation observed us not sitting together at the Sunday meetings. I was disfellowshipped that evening. Things went upside down! It took me 9 years to get over the anger, hurt and programming. Ray Franz's second book automatically turned off the programming for me instantly. I was finally free. You are right. They do play mates against eachother. It's disgusting. Disfellowshipping didn't hit me very hard because I only had 1 aunt in and she never shunned me. I was also good at making friends outside of the org. So if these people shunned me it was no big deal. Glad to seeJoe & Fran come out intact and close with eachother. I hope their kids wake up soon too.

They are so stupid to loose anyone(s money). Spend the inheritance on loving yourselves dear parents. I never neglected my mom.

Joe and Fran are beautiful loving people and so giving! I strive to follow their examples! If you ever doubt this is an Evil Destructive Controlling Cult, their experience will set matters straight! Gotta love this couple!

I was a single mum of four one escaped the other three in still. I tried to leave but my kids are my world and they are held ransom so I went back in after 10 years of hell being shunned. I so resonated with what you say about being overbearing parent because I didn’t want my kids to die but to have paradise. It’s different being back in, as the people are beautiful and I’m way more knowledgable, stronger and recognise I no longer have to be the people pleaser I was. I’m not there out of fear anymore but there for the love of my kids in their 30s now. Sending love n hugs 🤩🫶🏼✌🏼

Thank you for this conversation. A religion of people practicing imagination, empathy, and intuition, if I have that right. Maybe this is the normal progression of religious expression, from polytheism to monotheism, to finally seeing that the morality within us all, is all we ever needed. A belief in our better half.

Oh my! I am also one who "faded", the only reason my siblings and I have not sent in resignation letters was because of my parents still being devote JW and we all know they would need their kids ( they are in 80s). My mother has since died. Though, she did ask many questions on why we stopped believing, my dad was adamant yo never allow any of us to talk alone with mom to make sure "her faith" was not compromised. My dad finally left us and moved to his "witness" part of family. None of us can have a regular conversation with him. I would love to personally message any who are in same type situation. My siblings and I need so much support that we just don't have. Any who want to contact up, please feel free to. We all need that social network. Would love to find people in our area just for real fellowship.

I'm in Africa and fortunate to be an independent thinker, and now a critical thinker. What bothers me the most is not so much the shunning as the slandering that follows the shunning. As if they have to give themselves an excuse to shun! And we do not really address that so much as it is done in such a very backstabbing way. It could be years before you hear what was being said about you. I have at least 5 letters written about me that they still are to cowardly to show me, one Elder actually telling me it was all hearsay when I demanded a judicial to address the lies written by Elders to other Congregations. Were not talking about decent people these Elder's are trained backstabbing individuals without consciences.

Wonderful people (Joe, Fran, and June). I always enjoy the privilege of talking to them on Vern's channel. Going to my first EXJW meetup in the San Diego area yesterday (3/9/24), I can confidently say that the EXJW community are regular people just like the rest of us. The depiction of how EXJW's are view being angry, is totally inaccurate. If there is anger I would call it more "Righteous Indignation" considering how many crimes against children have been swept under the run and the lies (watch the legal department and Geoffrey Jackson's testimony at the Australian Royal Commission). My experience meeting Stef in person (I think we knew each other about 20 years ago) was wonderful, and not only did I bump into a friend of mine I hadn't seen in about 10 years, I found out Stef and I are acquainted with some of the same people who are now EXJW's but other PIMO's. Take that first step and the next ones are easier.

Religion is doing something over and over again. Its about a relationship with Jesus, our Savior, our Hope. May you find this relationship with Him. Blessings to you.

I live in a highly JW populated area. Met so many since moving here. They treat me great. Amazing if I was part of the group, they would shun me if I was my contrary, outspoken self. They're not shunning me as a non member. I really appreciate the groups of JW that come to the nursing home and visit and read with their members who are incapable of attending meetings.

That damn cult destroyed my family. The man that started it was a liar and we all know who the father of lies is. I know they don’t believe in satan but he believes in them. It’s so painful to lose family this way!

It is only part of the 36 years that we were in. Most importantly is what we are doing now.

Being a witness at one time I never understood the shunning policy I always thought it was stupid nobody should have to shun their family or friends.

If Jesus belonged to any sort of religion, it would be one based on LOVE. Thats it, extending love for all of mankind, so we too should follow his example.

I'm thankful , I had one daughter. My ex husband was Irish catholic, and Im Protestant. Less headaches. She was planned. Plus, i didnt want ,more kids, so birth control. I couldn't afford more children, also. I worked for 36 yrs.

My family are JWs and I left years ago. I’m not saying it wasn’t hard at the time because my family were worried about me. I think sometimes it’s about how families interpret things and also family dynamics. I would not be left out of significant family occasions and my family still love me. My dad is an elder and I don’t have JW friends as such because we would have little in common anyway. Honestly when I see how some of my friends were brought up, I am happy to have been brought up as a JW even though I am not religious now. We didn’t have traditional present giving days like Christmas and birthdays but had other present giving days so I never really felt I was missing out. I hear how others have been treated and it is so different from my experience.

Open honest information I think the road to healing in any situation is honest open communication with oneself I was raised Church of God of Prophecy. I don’t attend my local church anymore. I have no issues with my upbringing in the church. I attend a Missionary Baptist due to its close to my home,the people there are very kind and welcoming The Pastor seems to really care. Mostly there is Only on God and that’s who I love and now to His will and way. Keep strong read your Bible trust and obey

The last thing I want to see is the JW Org!!! learning how to be more deceptive by the ones who woke up. The thing I would love to see is how to live life after!!! I have gone into isolation. I don't trust anything or anyone. I don't know how to live life, how to go on. I have struggled with finding a job, and sticking with it, I just keep quitting jobs. I finely started my own cleaning business, and when there is a little hint of control, I flip and ready to run to the door. (even though I myself fight to control my small amount of controlling personality) Truthfully, I don't know how to live on the outside, but I don't ever want to go back. My head is mest up even now, and I've been out for 20 years. I was very suicidal for most of my life! feeling never good enough as God's child, or dad&mom's child,a wife and a mother all I want to do was die. I am not suicidal now with lots of work and keeping people at a distance. That's the help people need, that have left, is how to live in society.

My aunt became JW many years ago and no one in the family is in that cult. But she never disavowed any of us, she still kept normal tight family relationships with all of us. She had JW friends and network but somehow they did not coerce her away from her original tribe. She”s in Italy, maybe it”s different there. JWs tried hard to capture my mom here in the States, when they found out she was Italian they sent Italian speaking saleswomen. I was home one day when they showed up andI Itold them they weren’t”t welcome so the older lady started to argue with me. I said : oh it”s like that? I”ll have you arrested for trespassing.” So they left. I tried to get in touch with their boss to tell him never to send any of those trolls to our house again, but the guy who answered the phone was really tight lipped and gave me no info about who was in charge at all . That”s how I knew they are a criminal mob.

Oh my so hurtful that your JW children are brained wash to not love & like you as parents just because NOT the same faith. I hope they wake up. Thank you for such bravery to help others. Just June and Joe & Fran thank you for your hard work

My friend and I tried to help a Jewish woman who became a J W. Her husband and children were aghast. We listened and comforted her, but when we wouldn’t join JW she sent me ugly texts. Not godly at all. Sadly, no religion is needed. An intimate relationship with Jesus, the Triune God, through our Advocate The Holy Spirit, is our strength and not man’s methods and traditions, rituals.

Maybe your dad know he's not getting any younger.it will all pass over,just keep hanging on there.my husband is @ elderly am not into that,i went 2 time,did not like at all,they don't like peace.if all of u all working together on this,some good will come out of this.

Mother whom I've not had contact since 2012 invited me to the memorial. Why now? Got me interested. Have been binge watching exjw videos. I guess the monetary judgment from Norway hit them hard. New light is just a way keep old money.

If you just read the Bible, the story is about Jesus coming to earth to die on the Cross to save mankind from their sins because man will always fall short of God's glory!! When you Give Your life to Him as Savior and Lord of your Life!! He will come into your heart and create in you a New heart!! John 3:16 For God SoLoved the World that He gave His Only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him has Everlasting Life!! I Person ally lived by a JW and It was alot like they said!! We can do nothing to Save Ourselves!! I would love the Opportunity to talk to these wonderful people!!🙏🙏

Prayers for you to seek personal relationship with Jesus. Read your Bible and understand it’s only God and Hos Word that we should be concerned with. No organization or religion will give you that. Glory to God that you’re out of that place! 🙏🧡🙏

Actually, from what I understand, according to the Encyclopedia of Wars (1916), of some 1,763 wars recorded over history, only 123 (6.98%) have been religious in nature.

The practice of shunning whether it's the JW's or the Amish is not biblical or Christian. It's practiced by cults and is divisive and harmful.
