In this video, we are checking out the Shure BLX Wireless System. This will cover either the BLX4, BLX4R, or BLX88 receiver, as well as the wireless for handheld microphones, wireless for guitar/bass/instruments, or a lav mic or headset mic. Overall, the BLX is a fantastic entry-level wireless system that I definitely recommend if you are interested in taking the plunge into the world of wireless.

Just decided to upgrade from the cheap plug-n-plays and ordered the BLX14R with antennas. I have been using the Ammoon 5.8g with really good results but have not found a suitable back-up that has worked for my setup. My band is booking more shows this year so I knew it was time to upgrade. The 500mhz range should work well with our other 900mhz and 5.8g wireless gear.

“Too hot” can be at different stages on the signal chain depending on your setup. But these mics are very well designed and should not be too hot by default. Been going down the rabbit hole of your wireless videos. Great breakdowns. Thanks! I was curious your opinion. I have the BLX4/pg58. I need two cordless mics for my shows. So I was going to upgrade to a better dual system, but then I won another single wireless in a contest.😂🎉 my question is if I put the two together, side-by-side, being that the blx4 is lower quality with no antennas, do you think I will end up with interference?

I gave you only one thumbs up, but I wish RU-vid would let me give you 5. What an excellent, informative, and entertaining video! One question. How much delay is there from the time you press the power button until the microphone actually starts working? I am picking out a wireless mic system for a basketball gym, and they demand a system that comes on quickly.

Thank you so much bro great review, so five years ago i bought the same model for worship six mics to be exact and only recently i have been experiencing a few problems. 1 of the mics keep turning off whenever i turn it on, i turn it on and it just switches off on fully recharged batteries (same brand you suggested). 2 the other mic sometimes it turns red again on full charged batteries. Third question i have is what is the lifespan of these model and how can i service them. also what precautions should i mind just to increase its lifespan.

Hi! I have a question and I was wondering if you could help me with your recommendation. I currently have the Shure BLX14 H10 guitar wireless system. I’ve had it for a year now and recently I’ve been having issues with it. I’m a dancing violinist and I usually step away from my set up during gigs especially when I play at big venues. I had a gig this past weekend and it was the worse it’s ever been. It was a backyard party and when I would step a little bit away from my set up the volume would significantly get lower then all of a sudden the volume would return to normal and this would happen back and forth. It would also cut out when I stepped pretty far away from the wireless. I know it’s not a cable issue or a battery issue because I have a new backup cable and I tried it with that one and I tried changing the batteries and it still did the same thing. My question would be if you think I need to upgrade my wireless since the one I have you mentioned is only for small spaces not for using at big venues or concerts. Or what your recommendation on the matter would be. I move a lot when I play I like to go into the audience where people are sitting at venues and interact with them so I’m usually not close to my set up. I’ve been watching your videos and these wireless systems stood out to me and was wondering if any of these would be a good option or which ones you would recommend. 1. Shure BLX4R (Because it has the detachable antennas but would it be good for big venues?) 2. Shure QLXD14 Wireless Guitar System - G50 Band (Pro Level) 3. Senheiser EW100 or 500 (Your favorite / would it be good for big venues?) Thank you for your time!

I tried to look it up, but I couldn’t find info on that. I used to own a 288 and I swear I do remember there being a way to combine them, but I could be mixing it up with another system, so I honestly do not know. If there isn’t a way to do that in the system itself, you could always get a cable that can do that which would probably work best for you 👍

(How can the seller - professionnal and well-known on internet - make such an error while sending me a new mic without asking me before the range of my receiver ? Since this was already a product exchange because the first mic they sent me had a problem of saturation on high frequencies)

We are using a wireless mic at a vintage car cruise night. When we initially scan the air waves and you set the mic to the same channel does that get stored in non volatile memory so both devices remembers everything for the next weeks car show???? We want something that doesn't need a tech to configure every week. We have volunteers each week and we want plug and play each week. Love your video explanations. We want maximum range also so will BLX provide good range like higher end systems might? I got tasked with finding new wireless mic system for our cruise nights. Hi! Great video :) I’m just wondering, would you really recommend the sm58 wireless over the pg58? Does the SM58 sound as warm and bright wireless as it does wired? I can’t figure out if all the letters and numbers (S8/T11 etc) after mean much, and their all pretty similar or which would be the best to go with if the sm58 really is much better to go with? I read the sm58 is ‘a bit flatter in the mid-range while the pg58 is brighter and has more presence’ - would you agree or disagree on this?! Also, please tell me these mics don’t have a handling noise? 😊
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Год назад
The sm58 capsule will sound the same on any wireless. The quality of the audio doesn’t change from system to system. I’m not as in depth with the tone analysis… to me it’s “does it sound good? Then use it.” To me I like the beta 87, which you need to get an Slx or QLX or ULX to get those. I will say, even though I’m not as picky on tone, even I hear a difference from the pg58 to the sm58. The pg58 has a lot of handling noise
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Год назад
So if you don’t want handling noise, definitely avoid the pg58

@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks a mill for answering this!! Just ordered the BLX24 SM58 after all and by what you’re saying, it has little to no ‘handling noise’ ? It’s meant to sound great as a mic I’ve heard, and I’m sure it sounds lovely!! :) And you don’t need an XLR cable for that mic? If I’m correct, I appreciate your feedback and answers, so thank you! I’m glad I’ve chosen the SM58 over the PG58 over its ‘handling noise’ - I’m hoping the mic I’ve chosen really doesn’t have much handling noise after all! :)
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Год назад
@@maireadaine1635 All microphones have SOME handling noise. But the Sm58 is the industry standard for a reason. You do not need an XLR for the wireless mic. You will need a small one to go from the receiver unit into a mixer/speaker/etc. Enjoy the wireless!

BLX is analog. If you want Digital, you can look at the PGX system. And this one does not have encryption. The lowest level of Shure that has encryption is the QLXD system.... which is a great system!

@@ScottUhlMusic what if I’m “playing” bass for Bruno Mars, Ashlee Simpson, Mariah Carey or some other artist that doesn’t really sing live or have bands that play music. Hahaha. I guarantee you will not see a BLX system on stage at a Bruno Mars concert. They use the Axient system which is meant to use over 100 at a time. ULXD absolute minimum. Both of those have encryption and way more features too.
