I just picked up my first DuraPlex too, I’m eager to run it through its paces. I’ve always wanted to hear what the inside of a toilet flushing sounds like! Great video Curtis
Sand and fine dust is what you want to seal environmentally from. Obviously the ingress of very fine particulate over time is hard to measure in a short test.
Great video!!! Much looking forward to a review of the recently announced Tascam Portacapture X8. Much intrigued by the noise floor on the XLR and 1/8 inputs :)
Thanks Curtis. Trying to decide on a headset mic option for my entry BLX system. Occasional spoken word use. MX153, Duraplex, Twinplex, or a Countryman option. Thoughts?
Thanks. I actually ended up getting an open box DPA 4488 at a decent price. Wanted directional pickup and microdot flexibility and seemed like a nice option. Will be used in an outdoor location with fair amount of ambient noise around.
@@curtisjudd Hahahahah ------------ what Ive seen so far, this injects some competitive pressure for 32 bit floating point and nice large color touch screen tech. Zoom will have to step up or loose sales to Tascam for this handheld type of product.
@@claytonmoore2091 It will be interesting to see how ZOOM responds. I suspect they consider Tascam a "has been" and aren't too worried. But would be nice to see them respond.
I have a question about Duraplex vs Uniplex. They are price the same but one has a cardioid. I was concern with a cardioid that the sound might not be good if the talent turn his head?? Also, if I shoot indoor in small untreated room, is it better to have the Uniplex because of the cardioid? Thanks a lot!
I know it’s a bit off topic, but I remember owning some Shure hifi headphones about 10 years ago and the quality was so good. I’m yet to find a set to match them.
@@curtisjudd I can’t remember my wife’s birthday, so for reasons of personal safety, I’m also going to say I can’t remember the model number of my headphones either.
do you like the shure tl48 lavs over the tl 47 ...are the tl 48 newer model? are these tl48 your favorite shure lavs still or is there a better newer shure ones ? I want to use for various projects but they must work great for corporate and small business commercials . I want the best for corporate
@@curtisjudd would you say these tl48 are better on most voices than the cos11 ? I did see the tl48 are the high end model from Shure still till this day . For deity theos do I get the mdot version of the shure tl48?
@@creativegreatsvisuals No. Not better, necessarily. With lavalier microphones, placement is a HUGE factor. Yes, if you plan to get one for the THEOS system, you'll need the microdot version plus a microdot to Sennheiser locking TRS adapter.
@@creativegreatsvisuals For corporate video, I'd start with a Sanken COS-11D. They're tough and will hold up well over time. For any lavalier mic, you'll probably have to do some EQ in post.
Hi Curtis, Thanks for your amazing videos and courses. Just a silly question. I'm recording a series of interviews that will use them for my podcast. Most of the podcasts are happening in coffee shops or restaurants ( I know i'm crazy). Would you please help to reduce the background noises and meanwhile have them to give the sense of the environment? sorry for the trouble and thanks
