I do like your video style and energy, but i would have preferred to listen to both recordings first and then to your comment to both microphones. This would make the comparison for the viewer easier as there isn't a third microphone (the one you're actually using) in between. But other than that it's a nice video.
Yes, I would like to see this too, just talking into one microphone first and then another, without interference in between. But even so I could see the difference between them.
mv7 sound much softer, maybe for youtubers that are chill or maybe even singing, and the rode podmic sound more like you are trying to get the viewers attention and you are talking a lot and screaming. Two different personalities, I prefer the mv7, because it feels cozy.
The sound is more natural & balanced with the MV7. high frequencies especially “s” consonants sounded almost overcooked with the rode, as if the gain might have been set too high. The high frequencies are more subdued/ better handled with the MV7 & it sounds naturally De-essed. The MV7 captures the frequency range more evenly. I’ve had issues with high frequencies on my previous mic so I prefer to have something with a subdued response that I can edit if need be in post. Also, I’ve heard that using the shure SM7B foam pop shield can reduce plosives & sibilance even further.
Глубже звук , обьёмней , что несомненно нравится , но звучание «С» свистящее . Не смотрю на цену . Если есть возможность смягчить звук , то Rode выигрывает еще и в конструкции корпуса
The Rode sounded slightly better in my opionion as well. If I went with Shure, it would be the jump to a MV7db and if needed, buy the Shure USB adaptor than settle for MV7 in comparrison to this Rode mic. USBc connection on the rode is also future proof and better, another RU-vidr that also reviewd them both said the Shure micro USB connection came apart...poor quality at the connection.
I use the mv7 with xlr on a maonocaster e2 my gain at 8 and low eq up high with mid and trble about halfway.. i then record thru audacity and the way i create my audio profile before editing really helps with a higher pitch female voice. It was a toss up between these 2 mics. Reason i like the xlr with the shure is because I don’t have to eat the mic to get that rich sound. I do wonder if rode is better tho
This is a comparison I wanted I was originally planning on buying a mv7 last year but the podmic won me over price wise but while I'm unhappy with the price point of the podmic usb the price point can still win me over despite ut not being a budget mic anymore
Thanks for watching and happy the video brought you value! I have both the podmic and podmic USB for different applications. The USB function is really helpful, especially if you don't have an interface.
So I had ordered 4Mv7 but they don’t have 4 black in stock and in the time frame I need them. So the supplier suggested the Rode. I wasn’t sure about which way to go but the Rode definitely sounds “better” to my ear. Listening through an iPhone speaker. Great video.
Which software are you using to create your video here with the PIP? Also, which would you recommend for a mic used for online classes/recording/podcasting? Something i can travel with and USB? Which do you prefer? Thanks Nice vid..
they sound identical enough to my ear. is there a way to switch between XLR and USB without unplugging? (I want to have the mic connected to two devices)
Hello sir can we connect 02 same rode podmic usb with same 💻 laptop for recording of podcast Can we record 02 recording from different mics connected.at same time to obs or audacity sir
@RobertMTeegarden Take it as constructive criticism. I even subscribed to your channel. All I had to say was that the commentary in between the samples makes it a little difficult to compare them.
@@JobyClarkFullSail thanks I figured it works with Android well, iPhone users stock cable won't do it, but works with a rode cable usb type c to lightning
@@RobertMTeegarden Thank you. I thought you would recommend only one of the options, but this answer is very satisfying that you can't choose wrong. Greetings from rainy Oslo.
If the mv7 is cheaper then I'd take it 100%, only reason to consider podmic is it is cheaper in most places. That's what I have and it is many times better than anything I had before. Great voice sound with zero postprocessing, which is very rare for affordable mic. Maybe not as good as sm7b or other expensive mic but a good value. Rode is also good but they often have small but annoying flaws and you can read about it in some of the bad reviews. That has kept me away from their products even though they have pretty good sound.
