To anyone (like me) who couldn't get that damn golden round thingy to seed in correctly, what he does with the knife is gently push around the plastic washer. You need to make sure the plastic washer is actually in the middle and not slightly off in any direction. Hope that helps, and great video btw.

Bro....amazing comment. I couldn't exactly follow what he was doing with the butter knife. Once I read your comment, I took a tiny flathead screw drive, pushed the plastic wash a smidgen and then the ring dropped right into place. What a pain in the ass! Thanks!

This is a brilliant video, thanks so much for taking the efforts to make it. Went with your recommended approach to swap the bracket and it worked a treat. As per what some others have said in the comments, watch out for the small golden washer that sits between the five pieces, it's really important that this is in tight with the first two that go in (2:10 in the video for an image of how these go together, it literally sits between these two and goes inside the two on the left). I found that putting these two on first, then the bracket, then getting the golden washer to sit between the bracket and the first two, was the ticket). Then afterwards, add the others and hand tighten.

Great Tutorial I recently used this tutorial and found it incredibly helpful. However, there's one issue I encountered that I want to highlight. The lever on the front side was obstructing, making it difficult to insert the XLR cable without risking damage. Even a slight movement could potentially harm the XLR connector. After some searching, I discovered that there are extension tubes available, but dealing with two connections seemed like an unnecessary hassle, especially considering the possibility of loose screws causing additional problems. Thankfully, I found a simple solution: flipping the XLR connector. Thanks to this workaround, I was able to use my mount without any further issues since the connector now sits behind, avoiding any obstruction. Overall, the tutorial was excellent, but I wanted to share this tip for anyone facing similar challenges.

One more thing to add to this: the Shure plate that comes in the box, you can mount it on the back by removing two of the screws (it hides the switches) great video! When I switched the yoke around, I had that same problem. Wish I would've seen this video when I did it. It wouldn't of taken as long haha

I understood I needed to get the brass cylinder through the washers, but was having trouble. The butter knife was the "light bulb" I needed. Good looking out 👍 I came up with another SM7B "hack"...I put a little rubber foot off of a guitar stomp box pedal on the part of the mic where it comes into contact top of the XLR cylinder. It prevents the metal-on-metal contact
