*Sonic and Shadow Vs. Phantom Shadow, pre fight cutscene:* Sonic: Alright Shadow, what's the deal?! P. Shadow: *prepares to attack* Sonic: *tries to dodge but is interrupted by real Shadow* Shadow: CHAOS CONTROL! *roundhouse kicks the fake* Sonic: Wha-? Shadow: It's a fake. *P. Shadow gets up* Shadow: I'll explain later. Now you run back to the base and- Sonic: Wait! We'll take him on together! (At this point the player gets to chose who will be the leader during the fight) (If Sonic was chosen) Sonic: Show me what you've got, faker! (If Shadow was chosen) Shadow: Time to finish you off! *fight begins* *fight intro* *Phantom Shadow does a "ready to fight" pose as his healthbar fills up and the song intro plays* (His fighting style consists of homing attacks, dash punches, and spin dashes, with an occasional boost.) *After taking enough damage he starts glitching, and the following dialogue plays:* Sonic: What's wrong with this guy?! Shadow: Just keep attacking, he's weakened! (after taking down his first phase, he gets knocked out but gets up again, and a gun forms from red cubes in his hand, complete with the Phantom Ruby sound. A dubstep remix of "I am all of me" starts playing) Sonic: Did he just... Shadow: I didn't think that an illusion would be able to- Sonic: An illusion? You mean he's not even real?! Shadow: He was created by Infinite, just like the rest. Sonic: You'll tell me more later, now we've gotta focus on this guy! (during phase 2, he has the same moveset as before, but firing three shots on the ground or in the air is added. He also performs his attacks faster) *halfway through phase 2:* P. Shadow: *Tosses the gun at the leader* (If the attack is avoided, while Sonic is the leader) Sonic: Whoa! Shadow: Seems like that's not all what he can do. Keep your guard up! (If Sonic gets hit with the attack) Sonic: Oof! Shadow: Seems like that's not all what he can do. Keep your guard up! (If the attack is avoided while Shadow is the leader) Shadow: Hmpf. Sonic: He probably has some other tricks up his sleeve. Keep your guard up! (if Shadow gets hit by the attack) Shadow: Darn! Sonic: He probably has some other tricks up his sleeve. (after that moment, he starts teleporting around the stage, occasionally stopping and creating a Chaos Blast when he's close, or a volley of Chaos Spears when he's far) (after taking down heis second phase, a "Boost duel", similar to the one in the Sonic Vs. Blaze fight in Rush, happens. If you win that, The fake gets knocked up further away and starts glitching even more) (If Sonic is the leader) Sonic: Now's our chance Shadow! Let's team up! (If Shadow is the leader) Shadow: Time to take you down! Sonic and Shadow then unleash a Double Boost, (which only plays Fist Bump if Sonic is the leader. If Shadow is the leader, it plays the chorus to All Hail Shadow) and try to take the fake down. During this sequence, they have to avoid a barrage of Chaos Spears. *after the fight* Sonic: Huff... Huff... Alright. Can you tell me what just happened now? Shadow: Infinite's power comes from the Phantom Ruby. It is that gem on his chest. Its power allows him to create illusions so real that they can hurt you. That fake was one of such illusions. Sonic: Well then. We should better hurry back to the base and give this info to the rest. Let's go!

With all the nostalgia pandering this game had, I was genuinely surprised when Shadow or Chaos didn't get a boss. Not even a crappy re-skin! Though to be fair I should've known SEGA would go out of their way to make me sad.

The reason why we can't have Chaos 0 and Shadow boss fight in Sonic Forces, because Sega has always fear that which is different.

This feels like it'd be right at home in the "sonic forces reimagined" mod in sunset hights with the pseudo shadow fight during the stage. Once you encounter shadow the first time, this would kick in until the end of the stage

Here's how I'd imagine the fight would go: Sonic: alright shadow, what's the deal? Phantom Shadow: Sorry, not telling you, let's get him, Mephiles. Sonic: Mephiles? **Phantom Shadow prepares to spindash into sonic while Phantom Mephiles prepares a energy blast** **Shadow uses chaos control and spindashes into Phantom Shadow and Phantom Mephiles** Sonic: Another shadow? **Phantom Shadow is helped up by Phantom Mephiles** Phantom Mephiles: Foolish. We will crush both of you. Phantom Shadow: This is goodbye. Shadow: They're fakes. Shadow: I'll explain later. Head to the resistance base, you'll have prote- Sonic: No, we're fighting them 2 vs 2! Shadow: Hmph, fine. **Phantom ruby sound effects play as a light flash begins, then it ends and sonic and shadow are in the place they were the last time they fought each other from sonic generations, and the cutscenes is exactly like in generations except shadow is with sonic on the rail and phantom shadow is by himself as his healthbar fills up, once they reach the moon the player gets to choose who will be the leader during the fight** *if Shadow is chosen:* Shadow: Bring it on, Faker! *if Sonic is chosen:* Sonic: You stand no chance! The fight is like infinite's first fight as sonic and shadow move forward without your control, however after half of Phantom shadow's HP is down, he does something similar to metal sonic's maximum overdrive except after you dodge him he slams into anything above the road and thus making it fall in an attempt to slow you down. Some dialogue would play here depending on who the leader is. *if Shadow is the leader:* Shadow: Gah! How can he copy Metal Sonic's maximum overdrive? He replicated it perfectly! Sonic: Keep your guard up! *if Sonic is the leader:* Sonic: that was a perfect replica of Metal Sonic's- how did he- Shadow: I don't know, but don't get distracted again, or we'll both be hurt! Following this Phantom Shadow would have red cubes slam down on both of his hands, transforming them into cannons that can blast red lasers that have to be dodged on the battlefield, and once you get close enough to Phantom Shadow he would put up an energy shield that had to be destroyed by homing attacks so you could attack Phantom shadow. When Phantom Shadow puts the shield up an extra healthbar exclusively for the shield pops up. Once you beat Phantom Shadow the battle becomes a Phantom Mephiles boss fight, the same happens if you get hit during the shadow part of the boss fight, and if you haven't beaten the shadow phase but make it to the Mephiles phase Mephiles hitting you takes you back to the shadow phase, you never lose rings. Once you get to the Mephiles part he does a "ready to homing attack" pose as his healthbar fills up. He then turns into his base form and splits and 3 copies of him emerge, the real Phantom Mephiles and one of the copies absorb Shadow's shadow while 2 copies absorb Sonic's shadow, The Shadow Mephiles's attack from the skies where as the sonic variations attempt to spindash at you, If you dodge they hit each other and are stunned, causing you to be able to attack them, defeating the 2 Sonic Mephiles's depletes half of Phantom Mephiles' Healthbar, leaving you with the 2 Shadow Mephiles's, whom will energy blast you but will homing attack you after 8 minutes, dodging will cause them to hit the ground and become stunned, defeating just one depletes a 4th of Phantom Mephiles's Healthbar, leaving you with one left, who will homing attack you after just 1 energy blast, allowing you to hit him much quicker. Cutscene after you beat Phantom Shadow and Phantom Mephiles: Shadow: Using the Phantom Ruby, Infinite can create illusions so real they can hurt you. Those 2 were 2 of such illusions. Infinite can create unlimited numbers of them. Sonic: So he can just keep cranking out counterfeits? Shadow: Indeed.

Ok if I made the game this is how I would have written the phantom ruby. For its abilities it can still have powers such as making illusions and copies but with a catch. It can only make copies if the user has used the rubies powers on those the user wants to copy. This would allow the phantom ruby to collect data so it can replicate it perfectly. But not only is it able to make illusions but It could also use mind control. This could give a better reason on why Eggman has people like Chaos,Zavok,and Shadow on his side other then just saying they are fakes. Why so many prototypes: I was thinking that the reason Eggman would create different phantom rubies is because the one that was from mania was completely uncontrollable. This could lead to Eggman studying the original phantom ruby and creating more until he made one he could control. But even after making the final one it still has its limits. At the beginning of the game Infinite is at his weakest and only being able to make illusions as well as use mind control. But later in the game he becomes much stronger to the point where he doesn’t need data to make copies and can make as many copies as he wants and of anyone he wants. This can not only be shown through Infinite but also with the bosses as each boss you face with gradually show powers never shown before. ( and I also had an idea that throughout the game it will become more apparent to the player that infinite is not in control but the phantom ruby is.) I am not a master at writing by any means so if there are any mistakes or plot holes that I made please tell me it could help me a lot!

Sonic: I'm gonna kick you so bad in the butt just like i did it back in space colony A.R.K.! Well, except by the fact that we're fighting on a theme park rather than outer space... (after the first fight) *Both sonic and shadow were launched into a boat like the one in sonic the fighters at a water ride but the water is replaced by lava* Eggman voice: Welcome to Mr Robotnik's rowdy river of lava. Please remain sit during the ride and please don't take flash pictures, bring any type of food and drink or smoking during the ride. Sonic: *Pant* *Pant* Don't know what's with you suddendly becoming baldy mcnosehair's lackey. but if it means to end you for the sake of the world, i'm willing to do it... *The fake shadow then tries to trow Sonic into the lava, but then..." Shadow: I found you, FAKER! *Shadow uses chaos control to push the faker from sonic* Sonic: Another shadow? Shadow: It seems that you need to rest sonic. I'll take if from here. Besides, i have some unfinished business with that imposter. *Sonic then leaves. The 2 shadows then looked at each other" Shadow: You're really are comparing yourself to me? Ha! You're not even good enought to be my faker. *the fake shadow then starts o emit an evil red aura so we can know who's the real shadow* (2nd phase is where the player now takes control of shadow. the fight will be similar to the first sonic vs shadow in sonic adventure 2) (After the boss) Sonic: Hold on. Did i just saw 2 shadows at the same time? Shadow: No sonic. the shadow you fought was a fake. I think it could be better if i explain this villain team-up back at the resistance's base. Sonic: either way, the resistance will be really happy to discover its newest member. EDIT: i corrected spelling errors and put more lines to make the dialogue more consistent.
