Shadow was his absolute best in Prime. Grumpy, irritable, vengeful, but loyal to his frenemies and homeland and the perfect protective big bro to Sonic

This Shadow is fleshed out. He is surely grumpy, awkward around strangers, pessimistic and all. But he can also be a loyal friend, sometimes a pain in the ass in the wrong moment. He can also be funny at times.

7:29 This is one of the best moments for Shadow's character. In a few seconds, he displayed so much emotion and genuine concern for another living being other than himself, more than a decade for the franchise.

I'm glad shadow didn't blindly attack sonic out of rage at the beginning, I thought they just reduced shadow's edginess for this show, but no, they full on improved him, he's matured, rational, smart, and as a result, even more badass than the guy we saw in sonic boom, sonic forces, and shadow the EDGEHOG.

Undeniably the best Shadow has been written in YEARS. All Sonic writers should take note, this is how you write Shadow.

Going from Boom Shadow to THIS was such a glow up. He isnt even in my top Sonic characters but he was so great in this show. I really love Prime and I wish the fandom was less harsh to it. It clearly does a lot of things right. Still very pleased with the season and show in general. The fact that we even got ROUGE and even BIG to come back in a Sonic show is amazing

Shadow talks up not needing to worry about Sonic's friends, but as soon as a version of Rouge talks him down from something, he listens. Man, I miss Team Dark.

I love this version of Shadow. He's more akin to Piccolo than Vegeta. He's not a particularly social hedgehog, no, but he's not actively angry. More, serious. He's no less heroic than Sonic, he's just not quite as talkative. Plus, Sonic IS his friend. He just won't admit it.

It was brief but the moment Rouge told Shadow to wait he listens. Its a bummer that Shadow doesn't acknowledge his friendship with Rouge, which is like literally the closests one to being his best friend. She's also the only one he really listens too.

Not the biggest fan of season three but Shadow’s presence rlly shined throughout this season. Not to mention he plays a bigger role

I really thought there was going to be a moment where Shadow would take off his inhibitor rings and go nuts, so imagine my disappointment when the writers seemed to forget that's a thing he can do. And also that he's perfectly capable of navigating the void himself and didn't really need that ride

Shadow is one of the best things in prime. Voice acting is incredible and they got his character down well. The scenes with him and sonic are my favourite interactions in this series. I know people are probably sad they didn’t get a super shadow or whatever but k didn’t mind. Hope they adapt him well in the 3rd movie and do him well in general for the rest of the games. 💙🖤

Prime did every character, ESPECIALLY Shadow, justice. It reminded me why I loved Shadow in the first place. I've been NEEDING for a good written/voiced Shadow for a long time, and they delivered. Shadow is grumpy, loyal, pessimistic but realistic/logical without coming off as annoying, caring, and funny without meaning to or breaking character. This was some good food 🤌🤌🤌.

"I never knew you were a hugger." "Do you want me to save you or not?" I absolutely love this part! Shadow showing he cares (some) but still being his angsty, grumpy self. 😁

I honestly didn’t expect Shadow’s rationality to lead the way for Sonic to wise up and make the right decisions for once. You don’t often get an antihero that gives their rival the motivation to fix their problems. Sure, he tried to just bypass Sonic and do it on his own, but when that failed, he wasn’t going to sit around and do nothing while the world was being torn apart. He didn’t give up on Sonic, let him make the calls, and had his back the whole time, and that’s a testament to how he’s the best character in the series.

his not even acting like an edgelord or an arrogant anti-hero like the other sonic series. He acts like a complete mature hero that cares when his home is destroyed and want to fix it alongside with sonic, no matter what the problem this shadow will do whatever it takes to save the world. This is probably one of the best adaptation of shadow the hedgehog ever in my opinion.

7:33 to 7:36 This genuinely left me speechless, and I LOVE IT.

Now THIS is the Shadow I like. Kinda grumpy, introverted and sarcastic, but is still loyal to his allies and actually does care deep down. He’s still the cool, dark and mysterious Shadow we know, but it’s balanced out with his softer side. He’s not a complete edge lord in this and I love it.

Shadow playing a bigger role in season 3 is genuinely what saved the season.

I love this show and season 3 mainly because of Shadow, he got a lot of screen time in these seasons but I kind of wished there was a bit more of him in season 1 and even season 2. But honestly I love Shadow and his character, and I hope in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 there’s more of his character and backstory

This is the *TRUE* Shadow! How he *SHOULD* be written.

I dislike that Shadow gets so little screen time through out the seasons, but it works to his benefit in some ways. Cause it means they use well in shorter bursts. Instead of potentially letting him fall into being an uninteresting edgelord who squabbles with Sonic CONSTANTLY. It would have gotten old very quick. It also interesting that his character is such a 'do it myself' kind of character and he's forced in the frustrating position where he must be a passive observer alot of the time, only making his anger at Sonic for screwing up and stuff all the more infuriating. But it makes it all the more satisfying for the audience, and himself, when he can finally get involved again. Also his writing in general was good. His slightly more subtle writing than Sonics blatent quipping ismore interesting. Also I like how the show just casually says Shadow was fighting an endless hoard of discount Sonics for several episodes, in a canyon and still had the energy to keep fighting, not be badly injured, take on more, plus the alpha and smash his way into stopping Nine again and drop his catchphrase. Shadow has a different kind of 'can-do' spirit.

You can say that again that shadow was the MVP of this season😂😂

Shadow has always been my favorite and I love how this show does his character so well… And I also love how Shadow cared for Sonic so much, like when his expression changed to horrified when he realized that Nine wanted to hurt Sonic, and then looked as if he was ready to literally murder Nine right there and then… And also looked so broken at that moment when he thought that Sonic was gone… It’s like after Shadow lost Maria, Sonic was all he had, and Shadow became like a big brother figure to Sonic and it’s adorable… I wish that Shadow got more screen time on the show though, like he was literally in the void for the first two seasons, and then when he got thrown into the pit, I just knew, I was like: ‘Great, won’t see him for five more episodes’…..

I don't know why it took me this long to realize that the best way to write Shadow was not to write him like *Vegeta* but to write him like *Hiei.*

Even though shadow has a hard time showing it and admitting it, he truly does care about sonic and does think of him as his friend, especially when he made sure to protect him from nine and get sonic back home before he disappeared forever, showed how much he would go to great lengths to help his friend
